Moral of the story is, Don't leave anything you love within Lucy's grasp, and perhaps cover your ancient Lazyboy when it gets too old! LOL
[spapad] Monday, September 07, 2009 2:50:14 PM
Yes, and Lucy chewed on a pair of prized Chucks I have owned just for 4th of July for 20 years ! They are still wearable, but I could not take her to task in the yard and hurt her for it, just as Guid cannot kill his LazyBoy! LOL

They are hard to get rid of. Even when something breaks. I had one for an embarassing amount of years, even had it welded once so it still reclined! LOL Just so nice a chair to sit and read books in, watch TV in, or just fall into a coma in. LOL

I was thinking of just hauling to the corner for the trash man to pick up, but I guess it would weigh less if you assaulted it and then burnt it! Easier to move after that! LOL

Ah, no harm, no foul there Grasshopper. Plus it worked. Just wanted to throw in my 2cents, though. Believe it or not, that is almost one of the first things we have to teach newbies at work. Not for the data but more to protect the high-tech machines. HAVE to wash them frequently as we have some readers that cost around 10,000 bucks. Management would NOT be happy if we blew a laser because of freakin' lint!

I'll send you the pdf I had to make up on the procedure / frequency of cleaning discs if more info is required!

Ed note that should have been mentioned. NEVER wash CDs or DVDs like "plates" in a circular motion. Always grab it by the edges and start with a lint free cloth (ones that are made for cleaning glasses or TVs are great..3M has a good one) and wipe it a radial manner. NEVER circles. It is really easy to screw up the data that way. Especially on a virgin disc that is new.

If THAT doesn't work, use soap and warm water or rubbing alcohol. if THAT doesn't work (deep scratches) get a product called "Disc Dr." It grinds off a fine layer of the coating of a disc. Works like a CHARM, even on the worst I have ever seen....my brothers!
[spapad] Sunday, August 23, 2009 6:03:18 PM
Oh, god don't thank me! That was my knee jerk response to the first time a CD failed on me. Works good for DVD's too. I figure they are pretty sturdy and can have food, crap, whatnot, on their surface we cant' see. Im sure people would say to use other means to clean them, but it works just fine.

OK. Just finished cleaning the CD with soap, dried it up, and gave the first track a spin. All I gotta say is: no more skipping!! Looks like all it needed was a good cleaning. Thanks, Spapad!!!!

Now, off to Dokken-land I go. I'll be back.
