Oh yeah, but that's part of the deal...she's a good kitty, get's lonely and wants a lot of attention at times...very nice temperment...will let me gently stroke her paws, which is rare in my experiences with cats...I have been viscously attacked by a couple of different cats at different times, have the scars to prove it...but this one likes having a home and wants to cuddle when ppl are over...very shy...

...and before breakfast...wtf spapad...ewwwe...that's messed up...my aunt Kathy use to have 2 skunks as pets...put them in a ckicken wire coop with housing and all...pretty high class actually...but I'd never go near 'em nor did she bring them in the house...she lives on a farm so she'd have the animal doctor keep an eye on them as well as the rest of the animals...the smell is hideous...
[Becks] Saturday, March 21, 2009 3:57:56 AM
Ah the joys of living in a country where there are no really poisonous or stinky animals LOL. Skunks, the best way I could describe the smell, is think of the worst smell you've ever encountered, and times it by 100. It's horrid lol.

LOL.... I have always wondered what Skunk smell could be compared too.... Here we don't have rancid smelling animals, we just have one's that will sting and bite...

It is the "bog of eternal stench". I see why wild animals stay away from the skunk because to get that mess on you would completly ruin your chances, as a predator, of ever catching anything when they can smell you comming a mile away! LOL

That's nothing. My Wendy could have curled anyones hair when she decided to attack a skunk. I came home from work that day and about a quarter mile before pulling in the driveway I smelled skunk and I thought, ah gross, someone hit a skunk. Rolled up in the drive with the window down and Wendy was home to greet me. She had taken a direct hit!!! I almost threw up in my car and was yelling for her to back off. Tried every remedy I could for it and nothing worked. Finally wet her down and Packed 4 boxes of baking soda into her hair, left it on her and just let her dry that way. It cut it in half, but she was not allowed to stay in the house anywhere but the basement for the next 4 months because she stank that long.

The bad part is it still didn't rid her of the tape worm. She kept it. She killed anyting that moved. Groundhogs, turtles, fish, rabbits. She was wild as a wild dog, but she always knew to come home at night.

OH, what happened to my Husky Wendy many years ago shouldn't happen anywhere, anytime! She had to be wormed for tape worm because she hunted all the time and stay infested with tape worm. The Dr. gave her 4 worm pills and she Exploded!!!! In the laundry room! It was half way up the washer and a pool of disgust about two yards wide all over the floor. Took me over and hour to clean it up due to the stench. My mother loved this dog till that morning, and she came and got me out of bed, and said, "Your dog shit all over everything, you go clean it up!!!" Up till then she was my mom's baby! and was again I soon as I faced the mess in the basement.

HA!! Even my betta fish has her gassy moments. On those rare occasions when I overfeed her on accident, she literally inflates and emits bubbles all day. While they're not smelly, they do leave a strange liquid. Thankfully I don't get so close to the water as to smell it!! I can't imagine what she might be "smelling" at that very moment!!

You know, I do think I had a Beamish before. Comes in a can, right? Next time I am up in the big city, I'll look for it again. Have a store that sells some 350 beers from around the world.

I am NOT a huge fan of Guiness. Were I forced to choose between that and a Bud, though, end of story. HAS to be the extra-stout they sell here, not the "paintball can / bottle" one.

Nope, personal fav still stays the same. Sheaf stout from Australia. Just a damn shame they don't sell it in this damn state!!

Tasting about, well back then it was 178 beers from around the world, But shit happened and I didn't have the money to go then, and now, I really can't afford to go for all sorts of reasons.

Oooooh Shirls Soloman is GORGEOUS! What a handsome doggy.
I agree with you Guido, our doggy is a rescue dog mutt and he is the most loveliest dog ever, such a happy boy and as luck would have it a good watch dog too, which is very good for me when home alone

So happy to hear it. You know that all my animals now are "rescue" friends.

Personally, I can understand it when people (cough...my father) spends a mini-fortune to get a "purebred" dog but I'll take my good ol' Tennessee mutt anyday. BEST dog in the world (despite his occasional "munching" habits!).

It is rather strange isn't it.  They don't even live in the same state both muts and look that similar. Bout blew my mind when I saw Calvin's pic again and looked over at Lucy and then back to the board! I was shocked at the similarities between the two.

HOLY CRAP, BATMAN!!!! That is uncany!
While the vid doesn't look much like him THAT shot sure does! Markings on the face are almost identical!

I hope you have the great friend I have here with Calvin. Just gave him a long brush-fest and he is now happily chomping on a biscuit filled kong. One of the best days of my life when he walked up my drive.

Lucy is as big as Bella was as far as hieght, but she is no skinny I don't think she weighs more than 25. Last 48 hours, I think she gained a few pounds and is leaving the biggest piles in the yard! LOL I hope to get her up to 35 or 40, whichever she looks best at. Right now she's so tiny I feel like I'm gonna break her if I pat her too hard.
So probably that speckling on both come from Bluetick, a familiar animal in these parts of the world. I can see beagle, but must be bluetick to get the marks, and she's not stuburn like a beagle! LOL

KEWL vid Spa!

Vet said that his best guess was that Calvin was some sort of beagle / birddog mix. Too tall for a regular beagle but still has the bark and digging tendencies (lunar landscape backyard, IOW).

As for your doggie gate, be creative...like me! (damned if that hound didn't chew up one of the clamps I had hooking it onto the stairs, though. Babygate in the doorway to my great room and this kept him from jumping the stairs!

Check out the innovation (and mess...thank you shoe muncher!).

She's so skiny she has eaten more and shit more than any dog I have seen in my life! LOL I can actually see a difference today from the night I brought her home. I can't wait till she gains enough weight that I can pat her down her back not feel like I'm going to break her. Her digging habits are funny, if you pick up a blanket and put it over what she's trying to bury she will quit and be satisfied.  Ah..........Just love her.

I hate it when my dog buries stuff, then goes back ages later and eats it, oh MAN does his breath stink after that!
[devils_child] Sunday, March 15, 2009 7:52:38 PM
LOL!!! It's so funny when they bury stuff, they use their nose to push it into the dirt (well not in lucy's case)... hehehe. I love stirring my dog up, whenever he buries something i follow him, then dig it up... give it back to him and watch him try and find another hiding place. (LOL, i can be so mean). He seems to like burying beef bones, and those dried out pigs ears. Although he has buried some dog biscuits, i think for once he didn't have the munchies.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by spapad from Sunday, March 15, 2009 3:50:15 PM)

That's because cat lovers like myself tend to look over those flaws.  I only had one indoor cat out of the many strays I used to feed. His name was "kirito" and man, did my mom hate him. I heard her complain about him and the fur he left on her work clothes everyday. Me? I loved him to death. It's a real shame as he escaped from the house one day and didn't come back, but he did hang out around the house several times (he never went inside even when I coaxed him) . I hope he's okay.

Well, obviously I have never owned one due to the allergy problem but cat fans have told me they are great. I shall have to rethink that now?!

That's true, but cats do tend to leave fur wherever they rest. Cooler would have to keep a lint roller ready, since cats tend to sleep on clothing, sheets, etc. Then he'll have to deal with a cat's territory "marks", which don't smell particularly nice. Then there's the clawing on the furniture thing. As much as I love cats, they do have their setbacks.
[Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by spapad from Saturday, March 14, 2009 2:21:40 PM)
[spapad] Saturday, March 14, 2009 2:21:40 PM
At cat would work out for you cooler. I'm allergic to them, so I don't have one, but they are fairly low maintenance. Keep the litter box clean and feed them when they ask and they are very content, afterall they decide when they want attension for the most part. Very independent animals.

Maple, Cooler, that is ok to not have pets. It is better to not have pets if you are not equipped to take of them (time, etc.).
[Maple Syrup] Saturday, March 14, 2009 12:54:39 AM
no pets...
[Cooler] Saturday, March 14, 2009 12:50:13 AM
As much I would like to have a pet... I love animals way too much to get one as pet.
The reason? I'm not sure I could take care well ENOUGH for one.

Please, don't ask me anything aboud so called purebreeds etc.!
Natural breeding for a pratical purpose is not so wrong as... oh, well.
Oh, I tend to get carried away sometimes. Ok... usually...

Still... I would r e a l l y like to have a pet... but the need of any such animal is more important to me than my... well... likes.

Edit: Dang typos...
