Thanks! New glasses. Bought 'em at the runner's fair last night. Didn't run in that outfit but I did use the glasses (as opposed to my own eyeglasses that I kinda need to see).
While they matched my "after the event" gear, the damn things fogged up on me from the heat mid-race. As I said, DAMN cold! Race started at 7:45am. Still looking for my official time / picture online. I posed with one with a bunch of "Elvises" at the end of the race. Should be funny. They started out the race BLARING "Hunka hunka burnin' Love," btw. Made for a nice start. They had musical groups all along the course and I'd pull out an earphone every now and again to take in some of the sounds. I certainly could have done without BOC "Godzilla" at one corner. Could have been worse, I suppose. At least they were not playing "Don't Fear the Reaper!" LOL!!!

The compound radius neck you have,it`s standard on all jackson`s. what that is the is the curvature or the neck from the first fret down to the body. It increases in radius to give you a wider ,flatter fretboard for ease in playing and bending the shit out of the strings. Works great for metal as you tend to not be as sloppy. Trust me,you`ll never want to change away from that neck once you really begin to learn things. There are other fine necks out there,but those Jackson`s are my favorite.
As for a distortion pedal,get a name brand (Boss,Ibanez,Line6,Digitech or a DoD as they`re known to my generation) There are also boutique pedals like Toadworks. But skip the no name pawn shop shit as it doesn`t give the tone you`ll love. It may sound good at first,but as you improve and learn about tone,you`ll start to hear the short comings .
Strings... that would be like debating what beer is best!!! Nickel is the most popular and it comes so many ways it`ll make your head spin.
Brands like ...Ernie Ball,D`Addario and Dean Markely are just some.
You probably could add a Floyd,but it`s goimg to make kore sense to just buy another one with it allready installed. then keep your V as a second guitar for "alternate" tunings or a backup.
You`ve walked into a worls that will boggle your mind with choices. Best advice I can give you is just ask around and see what people use. Just don`t ask a salesman when he`s at work,you allready know the answer as to why not!!

I got the guitar second hand at the local music store for 300.30$ Didn't come with anything. Just the guitar and nothing else. But I went back a couple days later for a guitar case and they gave me one for free haha. And it's a nice case too. So all I need now I guess is an amp, my own strap, guitar chords, and a stand too for convience at home instead of pulling it in or out of the case all the time or leaning it against something.
I've been fiddlin' around with guitars since about last Christmas, a little after.
I don't know really much about anything to get for my guitar.
I know when I see a strap I want, I'm definitly gonna get it.
I don't really know about strings for whenever mine wear out or break.
Not too sure about amps but I really like these Line 6 ones at the music store. Got a lot of good preset tones that are heavy as fuck.
Couldn't tell ya about distortion pedals though. Or ANY kind of pedal haha.
There is two small chips in the paint right on the lower point of the V and another about an inch or so away from it. But you gotta expect that second hand.
I was wondering too, with my kind of guitar and the way the strings go into the body, would I be able to get a Floyd put on it or would I just be better off buying another guitar like that with one already on it? |

Nice guitar Joe. Been playing long? When you feel the need,find you a luthier(may be tough where you are) and get that dual compund radius neck adjusted. You`ll be amazed at how low of action you can get with those wide flat necks. They have been my favorites for years.
