so about the pushing in front of the benches. simple fix. move the benches to oposing sides of the rink. not that hard, it used to be that way at most rinks till someone decided it made for beter TV if they could pan from one bench to another.
Every game I watch they have this camera to show replays from the oposite angle, therefore on the other side of the ice. one could think that camera could show the bench, like it now shows the penalty boxes.
sure its a bit of work, but think of the savings in injuries and bullshit

As for the ref situation, if the calls go our way in game 7, then I'll have no complaints!
Until then, maybe you could ask Hellrider to start welding some robots. Complete with flamethrowers, of course. LOL!

I guess its easier for the players, they know that ref a calls it one way ref B another. they can learn the refs...
apparently in baseball its the same for umps and strike zones. but yes consistancy would be nice. the comentators here talk about the ref not intruding in the game, but if a penalty is earned, call the damn thing.
maybe one day we can have robotic refs? | | guidogodoy wrote: | | Personally, I enjoy the post-Vienna intelligent convo time here.
That said, be consistent in the calls!!!! Is that too much to ask? Crossing fingers and toes for the Wings already.

And thats the problem. either you say these are the definitions, call every one, or say we will use judgment. they say that these are the rules, yet every ref is different. I dont mind so much them missing a call because they were screened or something, so be it. the puck got an inch outside the line, the linesman is on the other side, again, fine so be it. no one is perfect.
the crosschecking. thats a penalty. the first time, to the back, to the chest to the neck, to the head, whatever. call it.
oh well, glad to see LA won, hoping for detroit. would like to see detroit boston in the final. Funny, they never replayed the offsides that everyone in The Joe saw. Last night, we came home and they were talking about it on the NHL channel. The closest anyone came to saying it was offsides was, "Franzen threw the puck out of the zone and Toews doesn't appear to clear the zone." I also noticed that they never replayed any of the penalties/no calls that we had issues with. Wonder why Abby and the Hawk were given 2 minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct? Abby was crosschecked 3 times to the ice - NO CALL. Which is funny because he got a 2 minute penalty for the exact same thing the game before and they said, "They'll give you 1 time, but you can't crosscheck him twice or they will call it." Uh huh. Abby went after the guy and I don't blame him. It's hard not knowing what will be called in each game, depending on the refs. People are talking about the Penalty Shot call against the Wings. Yes, it fits the definition. However, a lot worse has been done in the playoffs in the same situation and no call was made at all. They are also saying it's a problem with consistency and the lack of it makes fans very suspicious. YUP!!

I have been told hockey is the hardest sport to referee. I would argue soccer is, but both are damned hard. not sure how you do a later review. Watched the 10 worst calls in playoff history the other day, some calls were amazing. one was 4 feet offside. but thats a 30 year study of however many games per year to come up with 10 calls that bad.
I wish they could stop changing the damn rules. one year you can slash the stick, next year you cant. imagine the hooking of the late 80's going on today. shit the box would never be empty.
still pissed off about the trapazoid.

At least that way games wouldn't be decided because of bad calls or no calls.

We tried to tape it while at the game, but of course a huge storm rolled in and nothing recorded. Looked to us like the Hawks were offsides on the play that resulted in a goal (Franzen threw the puck out of the zone and Toews never cleared out of the zone before it was brought back in). Smith needs to start wearing a Hawks sweater, Jesus he is horrible! Too bad DeKeyser had his thumb broken by the Ducks or this might be a different series.
