Saxon - "Demon Sweeny Todd" from the new album Into The Labyrinth 2009. At least Saxon has not experimented with something out of the ordinary, thier goal is to release consistant heavy metal/rock albums year after year because they have established themselves as a consistant british heavy metal band. "I am the Demon Sweeny Todd"!!!!!!!!!

They open up with "Motorcycle Man" and it just kicks fuckin balls!! The atmosphere of this DVD is absolutely supurb!! From start to finish...it will make you wish you were there I can promise! This live DVD is one of my favorites ever. Thanks to Tina from Walsall England(missing member...a friend of mine whom I speak with off the site on the phone from time to time )for introducing me to this DVD!

THANKS J.D.!! This song kicks ass - I love the drumming! We had all the old Saxon albums (Saxon through Power and the Glory) when I was growing up and I loved them (don't know what happened to them though). But then the mid 80's hit and I didn't like their albums and I guess I just gave up and only listened to the old stuff. It's funny, I was reading the CD insert to the Heavy Metal Thunder CD and Biff calls the Innocence Is No Excuse album "Our Def Leppard album"! LMAO! They still sound fantastic. I'm going to buy the Heavy Metal Thunder CD for my brother as one of his Christmas presents. Now I need to buy some more Saxon and I think I'll start with Lionheart!

Hey right on HRMG!!!!!! Yeah thier first album through Power and the Glory(5 albums) are classic Saxon. If you wanted to start with an album yeah I would buy Lionheart(2004)
....every song is classic Saxon..."perfect" .Then I would buy "The Inner Sanctum"(2007)....that album is totally excellent and I think every song on that album is awsome too...another
perfect album with absolutely no lame tracks. Then I would buy "Metalhead"(1999)....that album only has one lame song on it called "Prisoner"..but all the rest of the tracks are cool.
They really mix thier albums with classic hard rock songs and traditional heavy metal songs.....and yeah I really like the Heavy Metal Thunder CD as well.............I love that version of
"And The Bands Played On" much better than the original track on the Denim & Leather album....and the "Power & The Glory" version is also better than the one of the original CD.
And the track "Crusader" kicks ass....its just the Crusader album that is not that great...but the song is a very traditional heavy metal song.
THANKS J.D.!! This song kicks ass - I love the drumming! We had all the old Saxon albums (Saxon through Power and the Glory) when I was growing up and I loved them (don't know what happened to them though). Hey Hot Rockin' Metal Goddess! Cool to hear that you got some Saxon!! Yeah the Heavy Metal Thunder CD is very cool.....I love that version of Motorcycle Man!!!!!!!
They have 18 studio albums and definately stay away from 4 albums: 1984 Crusader, 1985 Innocense Is No Excuse, 1986 Rock The Nations and 1988 Destiny.
Those 4 albums are Saxon's "hair band era" and the song writting is an attempt at the commercial american market at that time...something Biff wishes he could
go back and change!! lol! Thanks to my friend "Tina" from Walsall England,I've been into Saxon for 5 years now!!! I've always known thier name, heard some songs
back in the day but never payed attention to them untill Tina got me into them.....they are the most underrated heavy metal band in the world in my opinion. The first 5
studio albums from Saxon are classic Saxon....then they changed beginning with 1984 Crusader album - through 1988 Destiny....but they started to get better in 1990
when they released "Solid Ball Of Rock" and 1992 "Forever Free"...those albums are half good and half bad.......then starting with 1995 "Dogs Of War" album all the way
up till now...7 studio albums in a row are very worthy Saxon and is the best era of Saxon in my opinion. 2004 "Lionheart" is Saxon's best LP if I had to chose one.
Hey J.D.! Glad to see you are back and had a great vacation! Thanks for the recommendation a while back about getting Saxon's Heavy Metal Thunder CD. I just got it from Amazon and it kicks ass! I don't know what happened to all my Saxon albums - maybe my brother took them, I don't know. I put this in and God it sounds so good! All my favorites on one CD sounding better than ever Now I'm wondering why the hell it took me so long in the first place!
