I swear to Buddha....I heard "Holy Wars" while in college back when Headbangers's ball / Ricki Rachtman was nothing but a joke.

Hearing the intro to Holy Wars got me running from the back of my double wide (yeah, I lived in a "mobile home" that had NEVER been mobile more than once) and I had that album in my hands the next day. Took a Spaniard with me next time they blew throught Detroit, in fact. As luck would have it they opened for Priest!

Oh...I agree Metallica's first 4 albums blow away Megadeth's whole catalogue from Start to Present...hell, I didn't even become something of a Megadeth fan until they did Cryptic Writings.  Even after that, it was a long time until I heard anything other than Peace Sells, Symphony of Destruction or the hits off Cryptic Writings.  Even then, I'm not overly impressed with a lot of Megadeth's early stuff.  There are some good songs like Mechanix, Hangar 18, Train of Consequences, Wake Up Dead.  But like a select few bands, I think Megadeth has gotten better with age.

Yes Darth,I agree that "Megadeth" is better than "Metallica" after Metallica's 1988 album "And Justice For All". Starting with "The Black Album"...and up till now...Megadeth is better but I still don't have an ear for Megadeth,just not my flavor,thats all. Metallica's first 4 albums are much better than Megadeth's entire career in my opinion.But not saying that Megadeth are not good.

Okay...I take issue with your dislike of Megadeth.  I think Youthanasia and  United Abominations are kickass from start to finish!  Aside from Risk and Cryptic Writings, Dave Mustaine has stayed true to metal and has written some really cool songs.   Go listen to Sleepwalker, Gears of War or Americakistan off United Abominations....No comparison to Craptallica!

Just a heads up for those who are "butt hurt" about me comparing Mustaine's voice with Quagmire........just to let you know that I am a huge fan of Norwegian black metal artists "Immortal".Lead vocalist/guitarist "Abbath" sounds like "Popeye"!!!! lol!! Well he does at times,I admit it...but it does'nt change the fact that it does'nt bother me and I will always like "Abbath" and "Immortal"!!  Just like Megadeth fans will always like Mustaine and Megadeth.
Popeye can take the place of Abbath if he ever leaves Immortal!! LOL!   Immortal fuckin' smokes!!!!

I would probably listen to Megadeth if they had a slightly heavier sound (face it everyone, there like "lite-thrash") and someone else was singing. In my opinion, they would probably be a great thrash band then and have sold a LOT more records haha.

Dave Mustaine's voice sounds like "Glen Quagmire" from "Family Guy"!!!!!!!!!!   Thats why I can't stand "Megadeth"!!!!!!  His whining voice actually sounds like Quagmire!!  Not trying to start a fight with you man,just trying to let people know why "I" do not like this band and it's because of his Quagmire voice. The second reason is thier songwritting,just is not my cup of tea......just like Metallica's songwritting after Master Of Puppets.

Rust In Peace destroys anything Metallica ever have done. But I do agree the Cliff era Metallica was awsome. After Cliff died it was like Game Over.   Listen to the eraly Megadeth albums, they are great. IDK if Killing is my Buissness is better than Kill em All. Peace Sells overall is better than Ride the Lightning, to me. Ride the Lightning is still a great album, but Peace Sells is mind blowing.

Metallica's "Master Of Puppets" album blows away any Megadeth recording by soooooooooo far its not even funny to mention. Metallica's first 3 albums "Kill "Em All"..........."Ride The Lightning"......and "Master Of Puppets" are classic metal albums and excellent song writting.  "And Justice For All"  the band's 4th LP was no where near these first 3 albums by Metallica but it still blows away any record by the overrated Megadeth.     

Now if you want to talk about starting from "The Black Album" and up till' now...then "Megadeth" is far better than Metallica of course,but I still can't stand Megadeth and own none of thier recordings.Thats just my opinion and I know yours is different but just giving you my perspective on my taste in quality metal.

I find Metallica to be totally monotone and uncreative. The only time I ever spent any money on them was buying Master Of Puppets, and I gave that away to my house mate because I hated it. ICM: I just saw Metallica last Sat. Night (01/31/09) in NJ. They kicked major ass, best fuckin show Ive seen in 15 years. Better than JP & Maiden this past summer.. Their new album is pretty damn good. The other thing that is very comendable by Tallica is the fact they mix up their old stuff on the setlist every night (something Priest doesnt do either). Finally, they give you a free download of the show you attended as part of the ticket purchase! And Priest gave us what this past summer for the money? Meet & Greet at an outrageous price, Too many bands on the bill (which shortened Priest's set.. No Sinner etc.) and the bullcock & lame NSTRDMS release! If you ask me, Metallica does not suck!

I think the popular media is always looking for a darling or a pretty boy/girl.  Metallica for the most part, since the "Black Album" have been metal's media darlings and pretty boys.  It doesn't surprise me they won the grammy for Best Metal Song.  I don't think Metallica necessarily sucks, but they have released some generally crappy albums since the "Black Album", and for the most part Hetfield's lost that signature growl in his voice when he does certain songs.  Even Whiplash seems a little wimpy now when he sings it.  I wonder if he has Rob Trujillo help him sing that like he did with Jason Newsted?
