I don't try to pose and say " I love the old stuff " ( meaning the material from the 70's ) . It's good and I enjoy it, but  I went to high school in the 80's and to me the best Priest albums are British Steel, Point of Entry, Screaming for Vengeance and Defenders of the Faith.  I include Hell Bent for Leather ( 1979, close enough ) in that group. That's when the guitars were loud and proud and Rob's vocals were at their prime.

I have to say that I'm surprised at the rank that people have given Point of Entry.  To me it has at least two "classic" tunes and yes I said "classic".  Obviously there is "Heading Out to the Highway" which probably has one of the all time best intro's when it comes to overall sound and power, but there is also "Desert Plains" which is an awsome song !  Just listen to the drums on that tune and Rob's vocals are top notch.  Some people may say that "Hot Rockin'  "  should be on that list too.

Before the Rage:

I'm just curious, why don't you have "Screaming..." closer to the top? I'm curious because another poster put Defenders and Screaming in almost identical positions as you did. Is it because the album seemed just a hair commercial, or just because the ones you listed before Screaming it just really blow you away?

Screaming is many times considered their best, and I'm always curious when I see someone who doesn't have it ranked at or near the very top. I find it interesting when people have different reactions to movies or music than what you'd expect.

Obviously these rankings change , but consistently Priest ... Live has been my favourite album for 20 years, if just for the huge crowd sound, always give me goosebumps, even if the setlist isn't the greatest at times. Outside of that, heres my current ranking;

2] Defenders of the faith
3] Nostrodamus
4] Painkiller
5] Angel of reitrubution
6] Briyish Steel
7] Ram it down
8] Screaming for vengeance
9] Point if entry
10] Sin after sin]
11] demolition
12] Rocka rolla
13] Jugulator
14] Sad wings ...

Rank the Priest albums from Best to "Least Best" (It's sacrilege to say "the worst"). To keep it simple, stick to regular studio releases, not live albums or dvds.

Here's my rank:

1. Defenders of the Faith
2. Screaming for Vengeance
3. Hell Bent for Leather
4. British Steel
5. Angel of Retribution
6. Stained Class
7. Painkiller
8. Nostradamus
9. Point of Entry
10. Sad Wings of Destiny
11. Turbo
12. Sin After Sin
13. Ram It Down
14. Rocka Rolla
15. Jugulator
16. Demolition
