I just don't think that Whitesnake are a good band for opening up a heavy metal show....I just don't "get it". Yeah they can play..ect...and I'm not saying that they don't
put on a good show or anything like that,....but really guys..."whitesnake" at a Judas Priest concert? This is nothing "new"as this has always been like this..........
I remember "Greate White" opening up for the Defenders Of The Faith tour...."Greate White"? Yuk. So it goes to show...this has always been the case.
You would think after 30 years in the buisness...they would LEARN to assemble a freaking REAL HEAVY METAL tour! They had it right at least when
they had Judas Priest,Heaven & Hell,Motorhead and Testament....thats the way it :should be". But Popevil? What the fuck kinda bullshit are they throwing
at us here for christ's sake? Popevil? HAHAHA!! That band is sooo "LAME" it makes my stomach turn! YUK! Did we miss them? I have no confirmation that they even played at all!
Seems funny to me that at a Michigan venue, their supposed "home state," there was hardly a SOUL in their seat when they should have been playing. Reminded me of Insane Clown Posse (another Detroit..ahem.."band") on the ticket with Priest and Alice Cooper. Most of the crowd just laughed at their antics and the five people who were "REEEALLLY" into ICP! Yo yo! Yeah hellrider I feel the same....."Manowar" would be better to see than Popevil...I do not like "Manowar" but at least they are a "heavy metal" band.
If I were going to Judas Priest,Whitesnake and Popevil....I would DEFINATELY 100% skip Popevil and Whitesnake and just show up for Priest!! Went to the San Antonio show and walked around and checked out all of the Spurs stuff when Popevil was on stage. Then when Whitesnake came on we went in and watched them. Yeah they might not be heavy metal but Doug Aldrich and Reb Beech were f...ing awesome! Two great guitarist. Bad Boys, Crying In The Rain and of course In The Still Of The Night were the highlights of their set and of course I must mention the dueling guitar solos. All in all I thought Whitesnake was pretty damn good. You are not going to find many bands that can back up Priest. It's impossible. The Priest is the Priest!! |

It was disappointing! Especially since I took pics of Whitesnake and didn't really want to be bothered with a camera when Priest hit the stage! I just wanted to be there and present and not be staring at a screen of something I just wanted to WATCH!!
But yeh, I would have liked better bands backing them up. Would have loved to see Disturbed as their only opening act, that would have been a kick ass show, that I would have been there for all the time! *Entering the thread holding up a shield*
Uh, Hi!!...I saw Popevil while waiting for the Priest in Concord. I have to say that they're not that bad...they're pretty energetic, to say the least. The guitarist did a pretty decent guitar solo mid-way through their set. Unfortunately, the fact that their music isn't even close to that of Whitesnake, much less Judas Priest, makes them seem a bit out of place, especially since they weren't wearing much Heavy Metal attire. I think someone else said this already, but Popevil would be better off opening for modern, younger ROCK bands. They have potential to make it big, but next time they should direct their music to a different audience (and maybe get a new booking agent). |

Well we heard them from the outside area while walking around and getting gear, but it was certainly not something I was in any hurry to go witness. Didn't want to feel the same way I felt when I was forced to endure BonJovi so many years ago as an opening act! The complete revulsion I felt was endless! Just hearing it was bad enough, but at least I have a way of tuning unplesant noise out. LOL [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. off the stage. Not trying to upset any Popevil fans, just trying to explain that this band does not belong with Judas Priest.....its bad enough that Whitesnake are
