Wouldn't it be nice if all metal bands were as perfect as Saxon. It would be a perfect world ...

Hey Jimmy, you forgot to mention that set cost a hundred bucks. ouch!
[Becks] Thursday, June 09, 2011 2:12:31 PM
Yeah I think the point of these box sets is that they are for collectors - your every day fan is certainly not going to buy it lol. The artwork is cool, I agree LOL I still haven't listened to all of Final Frontier, I'm just not that in to Maiden to be honest. Pre-1990 Maiden, yes, post 1990? Nah. I see Maiden have just released a greatest hits from 1990-2010 actually.

I understand your frustrations Becks. I'm guitly or what Jimmy does on a regular basis(lol). The problem is Priest has set themselves up for this kind of fall by waiting too long to release new material. I really don't think these kind of box sets sell that much, sure some die hards collect it but over all I don't think they sell that well.

From 2004 till now Priest has released only 2 studio albums while Saxon has released 4 of them, they don't give the fans a chance to get angry waiting for new material and that with sticking to the same formula has givin Saxon the best albums of thier career while Priest and Maiden is like pulling teeth to get a release from them....Maiden's took 4 long years(2006-2010) and it turned out like crap.  I just can't wait for this new release from Judas Priest,I think it will be the last studio album of thier career,I really mean that as I don't think they have more than 1 studio album left in them,so lets hope its a good one.

Also...the only thing cool about the box set is the metallic hands grasping the Priest cross,is it the Painkiller or the Angel Of Retribution or a new mystical being? Who knows but thats the only cool thing about it.....makes us itch for a new album art work!!!

Fucking hell, there's new stuff on the way FFS!!!! It won't be released anytime soon, but I for one am willing to wait for it. If you hate this stuff so much, IGNORE IT rather than go on about how shitty you think it is etc etc!!!! Honestly, sometimes I wonder if you are really a fan when 99% of your posts are wailing on Priest. Yeah you've said before, if they do something you think is stupid you'll call them out (as most of us do, but I also think most of us focus on the positive), but MAN if I have seen you write one good thing I can't think of it. Just being honest - like you always are.

Wow!!! That boxset of singles looks really shitty. Seriously, who the fuck would want a whole bunch of cds with two or three songs on. Especially songs that are already on the albums. Priest fail again. Release a new album you greedy, lazy, money grabbing pack of c***s.

other than 9 of the songs being live, I have all the songs, and if it all runs true to form I probably have the live versions anyway.

for $100 (asuming canada gets the USA pricing I didnt notice price before) its a damn pricy paperweight.

Yeah, it does cost 70 euros, so it's on the more expensive side. But it's an easier and cheaper way for us newer fans to get all those single B-sides.

well, I dont realy see a reason to shell out for this.  with 20 discs it must be costly as all heck, and I have all the contents already

You would have to say that the classic Priest line-up included Dave Holland. He was the drummer when they were at the peak of their success and played on more classic albums than anyone else. Binks played on three classic albums and Travis has only played on one.

It's common knowledge that the classic lineup is Halford, Tipton, Downing and Hill with whatever drummer at the time.
[Head banger] Thursday, May 26, 2011 8:30:31 AM
you mean the line up with binks on drums?  phillips?  holland?  who?  which line up?  some of those box sets are kinda small for one lineup....

All five members of JUDAS PRIEST — Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, Ian Hill, Scott Travis, and the band's latest addition, 31-year-old guitarist Richie Faulkner (LAUREN HARRIS, DIRTY DEEDS) — took part in a press conference this afternoon (Tuesday, May 24) at the Renaissance Hotel at Highland and Hollywood in Los Angeles to answer questions about the upcoming "Epitaph" U.S. tour and to formally introduce Faulkner. During the event, it was revealed that JUDAS PRIEST will release the "Single Cuts" CD-singles box set and the "Classic Albums Collection" later this year containing the following material:

1. "Single Cuts" CD-singles box set:

* The complete U.K. CBS/Columbia singles from 1977-2008 featuring all 7" and 12" tracks.
* All singles will carry original artwork.
* This box will only be available online and sold through the official JUDAS PRIEST web site.
* Fans can pre-order the box starting in June; the product will ship later in the summer.

2. The "Classic Albums Collection":

* Timed for the start of the U.S. tour
* Box set featuring all the albums from the classic lineup years, including first two Gull records
* Includes 17 albums (19 discs in total)
* All remastered albums with original artwork

Hopefully they'll release the complete singles and not just the lead tracks, because then we'd get a live version of Evil Fantasies, full version of Freewheel Burning (with extended intro) and a lot of other rarities!

I also wonder how much they had to pay to Gull for those first two albums...
[jimmyjames] Wednesday, May 25, 2011 12:25:44 AM
This is a joke right?
[the highway terror] Tuesday, May 24, 2011 11:55:36 PM
the singles collection will include all 7 & 12 inch releases so there will probably be some rare stuff in there
some of those 12 inch maxi singles didn't get a very wide release and are kinda rare
[Bazookajoe_666] Tuesday, May 24, 2011 9:35:06 PM
If you read the entire press conference coverage, Rob himself said that several tracks are completely done and ready to be released, and the new album will be released next year. They're also thinking of playing a new song or two on the tour coming up.

Helps prove Jimmy's point doesn't it?
