JUST WATCHED SOME OF THE PRESS CONFERENCE WITH PHILADELPHIA EAGLES OWNER JEFFREY LURIE ON THE VICK SIGNING...MUST SAY AM IMPRESSED WITH HIS APPROACH ON ADDRESSING THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE CRIMES VICK COMMITED...NOT SUGAR-COATING IT OR TRYING TO DOWNPLAY THE SITUATION...ON DESCRIBING VICK'S ACTIVITIES AS "CRIMINALLY" & "MURDEROUSLY"...ALSO STATING THAT VICK MUST BE PROACTIVE IN ADDRESSING THE HEINOUS ACTIVITY OF DOGFIGHTING THAT GOES ON IN MANY CITIES AND COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE U.S., OR HE WILL NOT BE ON THE TEAM...WELL DONE MR. LURIE ... AS FOR THE SPORTS ASPECT OF THE SIGNING,PROBABLY A LOGICAL PLACE,DUE TO WHERE McNABB IS IN HIS CAREER,BUT THIS WHOLE 'VICK' HOOPLA IS QUITE OVERBLOWN IN MY OPINION. |

CUBS PICK UP PAIR OF PIRATE LEFTIES
The Cubs beefed up their pitching staff on Thursday, one day before the trade deadline, by picking up left-handers John Grabow and Tom Gorzelanny from the Pirates in exchange for right-handers Kevin Hart and Jose Ascanio and third baseman Josh Harrison. Grabow, 29, is 3-0 with a 3.42 ERA in 45 relief appearances this season. Gorzelanny, 27, was 3-1 with a 5.19 ERA in nine relief appearances with the Pirates before being optioned to AAA Indianapolis, where he has gone 4-3 with a 2.48 ERA in 15 starts. |

Today in the Tour De France Jens Voigt (german rider for Saxobank) had what I think is the most horrific accident that I've seen.
He crashed going 80 km an hour on a mountain decent. He's got severe injuries. Head, neck, arm and face (he has just been stabalized and still needs to be scanned to see the extent of his injuries)
I thought I was going to throw up when I saw him go down. Truly a horrific injury. This could either take his life or end his career. I'm praying for him. He is one of the good ones. Nobody should go out like this.

I still cannot beleive that Arturo Gatti has died... exactly he was murdered. He was one of my favourite boxers, true warrior, fought with passion and brave. If he was knocked down he always got up and didn't surrender... He was the quintessence of valour and honour - a real boxer, real spectacular person! He has took part in four "fights of the year", and many of his fights were also very great and very interesting, he has several WBC and IBF champion belts and three unbelievable fights against Mickey Ward. But now he's gone... 37 years old... RIP. Sorry that I posted it here, just haven't found needed thread. Everyone who likes professional boxing must knows this great guy and remember him.

"Fight of the year 2002" http://www.dailymotion.com/video/k4JqySmh9XQotGiv3Z - Gatti vs. Ward (the 3rd fight), the last fight of Ward in his career and of course "Fight of the year 2003" Edited at: Tuesday, July 14, 2009 12:16:00 PM |

Well, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time staying with my mother, sister and her two young boys who "just can't wait to meet Unkie Freeze." I told them that you just LOVE to give airplane rides and that you are big like a tree so they can scale you to swing from your arms. Oh yes, being my relatives, you can guess that they have the tendency to get a bit hyper.
I'll be sure to "wind them up" for you right before I leave for the hotel. |

Hey, Pip, Just for you.
I wasn't kidding when I said that I was a fan of Pittsburgh (or the freakin' Coyotes, either!!). Look what I just found. My ORIGINAL "Terrible Towel" and '79 Steelers beercan opened from the bottom, to be sure. Too bad my trashcan is still in Detroit. I was a kid growing up with the Lions, FFS! HAAAAA!! Of COURSE my generation was the Mean Joe Greene era!
Now then...make me an offer...haaa!!!
