Congratulations HB...you've been a great friend to me!! We will keep in touch!! [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Head banger from Friday, June 12, 2009 10:20:48 PM) | | Head banger wrote: | | 20,000 posts (depending on how you view this, I might be past, or almost there, taking the average, close enough)
The tradition was that to mark a milestone like this a long post would ensue. I think that tradition seems to have gone by the wayside, but I wanted to take this opportunity to say a few words.
Wow, who would have ever thought I would get to this level. From the time I joined this site in 2003 to today there have been many changes. Some band named Judas Priest released 2 albums, toured the world a few times, even managed to get in front of me twice. Here on the site, the whole layout has changed, with the result that people like me can make tens of thousands of posts. When I joined Priest_Hammer was by far the most prolific poster, well on his way to a lofty 2000 posts. I have defended Priests replacement singer, debated socialism, crime, capitalism, ice cream, told people off and been told off, discussed all sorts of music, and posted a whole lot of meaningless trivial stuff from what are you drinking to pictures of models in skimpy clothing. Sometimes I think the latter might be my most important contribution, how sad…
The board changed formats a few years ago, and at first I didn’t like it, but now I do. The change in format brought out good and bad, people had the ability to post more, create topics, and post and create they did. Some good, some bad, but the old format had some good, some bad too. People came with the point of causing trouble, and respect points were introduced. I spent some time as the most ignored, and even a brief moment as most respected, but the points were quickly abused and became kind of irrelevant.
The change in format did allow people to get to know each other better, and for a lot of you, we did get to know each other much better. Those of you that I have gotten to know are great people, and it has enriched my life to know you. Some of my best friends are people that I have met on this site. I won’t create a list of names as I will surely forget someone, but you are all great friends. As a group we have seen many members come and go, many changes happen, many friends join, some leave. While we miss all those who chose to leave, we understand why they do so, and hope that they come back to us. For myself, I find that of late I seem to have less and less to say and am putting more and more topics on ignore. What started as ignoring the topics in languages I couldn’t read spread to ignoring word and song association threads, and now on to threads that are dedicated to all kinds of things I find a lack of interest in.
I never thought I would have the most posts here, and am sure I won’t for long. The next 20000 will take a lot longer, priest will either have to have to make 3-4 more discs, or keep the site up a long time after retirement. As it stands now, I am going to change the way I visit here. I am not leaving, but I don’t plan on doing as much chatting or visiting here as often. Since the view all posts tab was introduced I have used it, read as many posts as I can. I don’t plan on doing that anymore, I will view a few select threads, but I am not going to spend as much time on this site. If you want to chat, send me a pm, email, note on facebook, whatever, I will probably find it one of those ways. If you see a post or thread that you think I would find interesting, let me know.
Play nice with each other, ignore the idiots, make friends, and love the band. |

I FIND MYSELF ROOTING A LITTLE MORE FOR THE PENGUINS. DON'T REALLY HAVE A ROOTING INTEREST, JUST WANT TO SEE GOOD GAME - OVERTIME.
RED WINGS HAVE WON 4 TIMES RECENTLY SO I'D LIKE TO SEE SOMEONE ELSE WIN.
ALSO BEING AN ISLANDER FAN, THE ISLANDERS WILL GET A BETTER DRAFT PICK FROM PITTSBURGH FOR THE BILL GUERIN TRADE IF THE PENGUINS WIN.
BUT IF IT'S A GOOD GAME AND DETRIOT WINS, I WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED. TWO GREAT TEAMS. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by pip from Friday, June 12, 2009 9:08:00 AM) | | pip wrote: | | WHO'RE YOU ROOTING FOR SCORPION ??

Becks.. you'll absolutely love an acoustic kit.. So far my neighbours haven't complained but I think it's because we have an 'understanding' lol.. I have considered looking into an electronic kit for when I would like some quiet practice time etc and also with the built in metranome I think it would do wonders for timing etc. I agree that the internet tabs suck.. half of them are indeciferable. Making your own notations are much easier I reckon.. And good to write up some stuff you come up with on your own too. Feck.. I better get going.. lesson in 10 minutes time!
Hang on.. Maybe we can commision Scott to publish a book of notations for us?? If we asked really, really nicely.. lol [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Becks from Wednesday, June 10, 2009 5:25:32 PM) | | Becks wrote: | | Morning everyone!
Oh yay for new drumming stuff Joe! If I get this job I'm after, I'm going to tell Craig I want a proper drum kit - although my electronic one is good for keeping quiet when I have my headphones on, I want a regular kit! I'm going to get some notation books sometime soon too and will try to write down JP drum notation as best I can, seen as I can't find anything other than crappy tabs online.
Oooh San Diego is nice Freeze! I've been there a couple of times, mind you the last time was many years ago, I remember my mum trying to take a photo of my sister and I at the old town and we were being stupid, and this cop saw us and came over looking like 'WTF are these kids up to?' LOL! You can see him in the photo too | | joedraper wrote: | | Hello Defenders!!
Had my patches taken off today and I'm feelling relieved already! OMG.. The itching... indescriptive.. I'm so glad that part of the test is over with.. now I'm just left with the red burns, welts and blisters on my back that I'm still not allowed to scratch lol.. I've already from less than 48 hours got some results of what is causing the allergies but some are still 'cultivating' and I'll know the full list by Friday.. then the madness can stop lol.
I'm going shopping for new drumming stuff tomorrow!! Yay!!

Sorry to post this here folks, but in line with my conversation with Freeze, I will do it this once and not again...
CHICAGO -- The Triple-A Iowa Cubs will play the Las Vegas 51s at Wrigley Field on Aug. 9 in an official Pacific Coast League game.
"What a fun thing for young kids to get a chance to see guys who are not far away from playing at Wrigley Field," said Cubs player development director Oneri Fleita. "It's a great thing for our players. You can't replicate that atmosphere anywhere but at Wrigley Field."
The "Road to Wrigley," presented by National City, will include family-friendly priced tickets, activities for children of all ages and traditional Minor League attractions. The game will start at 1:20 p.m. CT, and tickets are available at cubs.com and start as low as $5.
Last July 29, the Class A Peoria Chiefs and Kane County Cougars played in the first "Road to Wrigley," which drew 32,103 fans for a Midwest League game. It was believed to be the only Minor League game ever played at Wrigley Field.
Iowa is in its 29th season as a Cubs affiliate. Through Tuesday, the Iowa Cubs were 1 1/2 games out of first place in the Northern Division

Yo Ron!! Yeah , the 51s are the Vegas franchise. Used to be the Dodger's affiliate but the owner refused to upgrade the ANCIENT facilities we have here so the Dodgers left after last season. They now have the Blue Jays here!! The owner here is a moron but..., well, it is minor league. Still, I do enjoy going to the games. You can ALWAYS get a great seat and the price is unbeatable.
Funny thing about ticket prices, I paid over $100 a piece for Dodger seats in LA. Paid $70 a piece for the San Francisco seats (luxury area!) and in San Diego, I got the same field level box seats for $55 a piece!!!!

Through Tuesday, the Iowa Cubs were 1 1/2 games out of first place in the Northern Division | | Deep Freeze wrote: | | Hey joe! Glad to hear you are feeling better!!!!
Paid $70 a piece for the San Francisco seats (luxury area!) and in San Diego, I got the same field level box seats for $55 a piece!!!! | | ronhartsell wrote: | | Hi Scorp!! Good hearing from you!!
Freeze...you're Las Vegas AAA club will be at Wrigley in August against our AAA club. Gonna try to make it. | | Deep Freeze wrote: | | Ah, Promotions! You may recall that I went to a local 51's game a few weeks ago and was somewhat confused as to why it started at 10 in the morning until I arrived to find that it was ELEMENTARY SCHOOL day!!! HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still, always love a good game!
We really enjoyed our trip to AT&T Park in San Francisco! GREAT time in a beautiful park. PETCO park is really nice as well. I have been there a few times and I am really looking forward to this game!!!! | | scorpion01 wrote: | | THAT SHOULD BE A LOT OF FUN. I ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE MORE GAVES IN OTHER CITIES. I'VE ONLY BEEN TO BOSTON. BALTIMORE, WASHINGTON, PHILADELPHIA ARE ALL WITHIN A 5 HOUR DRIVE. PITTSBURGH AND CINCINNATTI ARE ALSO WITHIN DRIVING DISTANCE. I SHOULD TAKE MY SON AND TRY TO DO A TRIP ONCE A YEAR.
BROOKLYN CYCLONES OPEN UP NEXT FRIDAY. I HAVE 3 GAMES IN THE FIRST WEEK. IT'S ALWAY GREAT TO SEE THE FANS THAT SIT IN OUR SECTION THAT WE HAVEN'T SEEN SINCE SEPTEMBER. THEY HAVE A LOT OF GREAT PROMOTION WHERE THE KIDS GET VERY INVOLVED. OUR LITTLE LEAGUE HAS A NIGHT THERE WHERE THE KIDS IN UNIFORM GET TO TAKE THE FIELD WITH THE PLAYERS FOR THE NATIONAL ANTHEM.
