Good Morn, Today Is not a holiday in Canada,, last monday was our celebration.. of the dearly departed,,,
But I always think of My Uncle on this day who has passed on, He was a medic in world war 2, and had to help both sides, he was given many gifts even from german soldiers for saving their lives, I have a authentic world war 2 german dagger, that was given to him, for saving a life during that time. along with all the gifts the american soldiers had given him, I loved hearing the stories, from him, since he was there... He Is missed by all in the family.
Blessed are we all to have such brave men/women in our countries.
~MG~
Have a wonderful day

Hrmph... I will skip the memorial day thingy... We have our own holiday today. Or we would have, if our old country was still together.
So, to all 20 million, in all six republics, I wish a happy youth day, for what its worth, in hopes that we can keep ourselves from blowing eachother to bits for at least a few more decades.
Also explains a little modification to my profile:) |

Tho, as far as bad driving is concerned, Ive never seen it worse than in Italy. You should see Florence! Not a single car there that wouldnt be bumped or damaged in one way or the other. | | spapad wrote: | | Remind me to stay off the roads there! I once drove in Greece in a the city of pirgos (I think) and no one pays attention to the lines on the road there! It is two lanes, well just make it three because they want to! I was such a wreak after a few blocks I got out and switched sides with my then husband and gave up completely, cant imagine mayhem like that and half of them drunk. NO!!!!!!!!! | | _strat_ wrote: | | Well, not the country... My countrymen, lol.
Seriously tho, when it comes to drunk driving, we are setting new low standards. Ive heard somewhere (and I quite believe it) that half of all accidents are caused by alcohol. Not something to be proud of, I guess, but there it is. | | spapad wrote: | | So your country drunk drives? Do you have the drunken 500 there? Does it have tradition to go with it? Just curious. As it was not only do they make up their own lanes half the time, the motorbikes just glide right between already tightly packed cars. It's damn scary driving in europe in some countries. Heard Portugal is the worse, but never had the pleasure of such a scare! LOL
In the US the one thing we do have is organized roads and interstates for the most part, you would never see the bahaviors I saw there happen here without someone getting a ticket. | | _strat_ wrote: | | Oh, well, we dont have it quite so bad. But we are on the edge of the Balkans, and some of the mentality crosses over, I guess.
