DP - that co-worker sounds like an absolute tool. I can't stand racisim or sexism (or any negative -ism lol). I got hit with sexist remarks so often through my last job. One dude we were doing an inspection on found out I was in charge of my male co-worker and said 'pfffft! subordinate to a woman!' then started going on about women causing problems or some nonsense. A few men within the organisation even completely ignored me during meetings etc - I was a young female, I didn't matter. Arseholes lol.
Hopefully that co-worker gets the boot soon DP - for your sanity! lol.

Bev, we thought for sure that our boss would flip and the punk would be canned inside of a New York minute.  The aforementioned Ivy Leaguer already made a ridiculously sexist comment that tried to lamely pass off as joke about women and sports yesterday to another caucasian co-worker.  It's just getting deeper and deeper here.  This is a lawsuit just waiting to happen, because I don't see the company doing anything about it.

I just found out that some newbie (caucasian) to our Internet Client Assistance Team has been saying racial jokes to black people on that team who are trying to train him!  It's a testament to the gentlemen who this ridiculous stuff is being said to, that they haven't gone off and whupped this sorry f***ers ass yet, and that things are being done through the proper channels.  Now that our manager has the email (saw it on his desk), I don't see this idiot hanging around much longer.  You don't piss my boss off.

Anyone want to take bets as to how much longer said douchebag will last here?  I'm shooting for noon.

I thought I'd drop this bit of insight I gained from a party I helped to host Saturday night.  It was a birthday party for a (now) 22 year old niece of a friend, and because of space issues, the party was here.  Originally I was going to go out and play poker with the guys and avoid this 'younger' crowd as I don't have much in common with them, but once ppl started flowing in (some as much as an hour early) there was just to much to do so I stayed.  As much as I hate to admit this, I really had a good time.  I had my music playing as I was doing some preparations, and as they came I didn't hear one complaint...as a matter of fact, the station (Boneyard) never changed all night!!  For the most part, it was all new to them.  Everyone drank and had a really good time.  It was a very mixed crowd as well...white, black and latino and with the birthday girl being gay, that added a whole new dimension to it.  I must admit that it was a lively night full of fun and laughter...a very pleasant suprise.  I am very happy to say that (after a day of recuperating) that there is a part of the younger crowd that does know how to have a good time and let loose without going overboard and losing it in the wee hours...much to my suprise!!...I was also happy to realize that at 42, I can still hang with the young pups!!!...lol...

naah, it's not strange. normal for most people-most of the jobs are provided by the casinos. if you grew up here you're used to it.  the casino workers make money and go home or to the local bars and tip lots! so everybody's happy! however the recession has hit vegas too and lots of people have been laid off.  sucky.

No I use New Zealand based search engines and the local paper. Plus my sister in law works for Fonterra, which is one of the worlds hugest dairy companies, so she keeps an ear to the ground regarding jobs coming up down here. So I have a few avenues, but it's a small city so not much comes up.

I know exactly how you feel Becks! A few years back, I went back to school, got out, and looked for months for a job. Just when I started to wonder why I even bothered, I got a call for an interview. I was actually cleaning a Dr.'s house that day because that was one of my side jobs I did to try to make some cash. I was alone with Flora and I needed to work only days so it put my former Bar job out of the question. But I digress! I was cleaning this house and my cell rang and the girl on the phone was like, get over here now the boss likes your resume you got the job if you want it! Been there ever since and while it didn't start at the wage I wanted it soon went up to liveable.
Don't give up Becks, there is a place for all who want to truely work, and your's will come along soon enough, and probably when you least expect it!

Hopefully it's only badly bruised! and that hurts so bad sometimes! I once slipped in water and had a loaded tray come down on my forearm, it buised it someting awful and for months, I get getting little bruise bumps on my forearm from that giant deep bruise breaking up.

I don't blame for not wanting to rely on them too much, but to sleep, they do come in handy for that. 
Ya know they say most accidents happen in the home where we are most comfortable and less likely to pay attention to our surroundings.
