Exactly. What we needed was an album like Angel Of Retribution with other tracks either never before heard or just haven't heard in a long time. Imagine a set list in 2005 like this:
Judas Rising
Deep Freeze (K.K. solo intro)
Cheater
Island Of Domination
Deceiver
Deal With The Devil
Starbreaker
Invader
Hero's End
Demonizer
Killing Machine
Steeler
Wheels Of Fire
Solar Angels
Pain And Pleasure
Eulegy
Heavy Duty
Leather Rebel
Hellrider
That would be more interesting than the same ole' songs.

I can tell you right now what were gonna hear....
Breaking the Law
Living after Midnight
YGATC
Diamonds and rust
VOC........
In other words the same tired old tunes they have been doing each and every tour since they recorded the damned things!! What I want to hear is something they either havent done in forever or never did live. I'd love to hear Never Satisfied or Blood Red Skies Tyrant, Stained Class, Genocide. They could do a NEVER DONE IT BEFORE tour! Anything other than the aforementioned. I probably will not go if its the same ole same ole. The thing that has really turned me off to seeing them live is the very thing I mention here. How many more times are they going to play Breaking the Law!!! I guess ONE now... BRING IT ON! But I'm realistic, so I'll hope for 2 hours with all their classic cuts, songs from every album and ones that I was not old enough to go to show and see live. I just really hope that their management makes this a celebration and looks at what other bands are doing out on the road. Look at OzzTV, that's a fantastic idea! Queensryche does a raffle for the fan club and you can win meet and greets, which is a party with all the guys milling around - not a 2 minute red carpet photo op, or you can also win the opportunity to be at their soundcheck. How COOL would that be? I've also heard of bands recording every show and you can buy that shows audio recording. There are SO MANY very cool things that they could do.

Are you kidding me here?
They take 3 and a half long years just to create Nostradamus,an album that is anything but "Judas Priest" and then since they couldn't cash in on the tour because the album sucked that much they pull a switcheroo and strike up a 30 year old album and tour it for a year and a half? And then 3 years after the Nostradamus LP they talk shit here and there about possibly making another studio LP just to pull a "Nah....we've decided to do another carbon copy tour again with no album" crap? And we are supposed to jump for fuckin joy because they are going out on tour again? AGAIN?
Rob came back and did a reunion tour, the Angel Of Retribution tour, the 6 week Nostradamus tour because it sucked that bad,the British Steel reunion tour and now a fuckin farewell Epitaph tour? And alls this band really has to show for it is the 2005's Angel Of Retribution album in which ironically the biggest Priest fan of them all(Hellrider) hates it! I however love the album, but they could of done way better, but thats the only thing that has come from this 7 years with Rob being back, and I for one think it "sucks". I think it sucks "big time".
Judas Priest will always be the Godfathers of heavy metal but they have not upheld that title at all,not even close. The last 20 years has only 2 albums worth a shit,Painkiller and Angel of Retribution, they had a huge opportunity when Rob came back, they should of had a blistering album out after Angel Of retribution for 2007,should of had another one out in 2009 and we should of been waiting for the final LP in 2011 and like John Belushi always said: "But Nooooooooooooooo" we ain't got "shit" and we are supposed to jump up and down because they decided to tour again with no LP? Bullshit.
Priest will always be the masters of heavy metal and the Godfathers of heavy metal but they are anything but defenders of the faith, not even close. Since Motorhead isn't really heavy metal and how Iron Maiden sucks as bad as they do(yes Brian, they fucking SUCK!) Saxon have been the band that upholds "consistancy" because thier last 7 studio LPs are great and consistant, they actually blow away Judas Priest and Iron Maiden put together and it shouldn't be like this even though I like Saxon,it should of been Judas Priest who should of had the last 7 studio albums top notch, but they did this to themselves. What a sad ending to a once great band. Priest SUCKS for not giving thier fans a real heavy metal album to go out on,they will be forever looked at as this end of thier career fizzling out like a dud firecracker, its fucking "sad".

THIS is the place where details and explanations should be found ... not in one-member interviews on his solo tour or in snippets from other on-line heavy metal music news sources.
Do the guys "owe" us an explanation? No.
Not anymore than Guido "owes" an explanation as to why he wears the shoes he wears.
(Sorry - Guido - had to pick on you a little bit).
Using the guise of a "big" announcement in December was pretty crummy though.
I don't fault the guys for wanting to retire ... I cannot imagine how hard it is to leave your families for months/years at a time ... BUT there was a better way to do it. I imagine this is how it felt to get Rob's "fax" when he wanted to pursue his solo career (again ... that's the story of how he left - I'm not putting any real credence into it).
Nobody's self-sites are saying much either (obviously).
Unfortunately, I remember the JP site when Ripper was in the band ... and there was no love for Ms Andrews then either. Heck - I don't even SEE any of those folks on this noticeboard...unless, of course, you're using aliases now.
Sad. Still deeply saddened.
I joke about why my cover band broke up ("creative differences" ... I know, in a freakin' cover band?!) - but I wonder if there is some thread of that throughout the albums many of you gripe about. You've got a writing team solidly built of 3 people - with different perspectives, interests, agendas (not meant in a bad way) and personalities. Could that be why "we" aren't getting the exact music "we" think "we" want? Do we really know how much input Ian and Scott have on the new songs? How about the in-studio producers/engineers? I love most of the stuff Rob has done on his own ... and Glenn too. And I love the RacerX stuff Scott's done. But not EVERY song is my favorite ... we've all just got different tastes. I don't know - just a rambling.

I get fucking emails from the Halford camp every day sometimes twice a day about a show or a sale or whatever. I got tired of getting them and cancelled the email alerts!! I am thinking now that that has been the problem all along. God knows he was doing shows and recording in tandem with Priest.
Who knows! I wish it were different. I wish they would come back and melt every speaker I have with another Painkiller. But I guess not..... | | J.D.

With the exception of the people on this noticeboard, I tend to think the majority of fans would rather not have the band plugging a new album on their final tour. I personally couldn't care less if they ever came out with another album. They have enough great material out there for me to enjoy for the rest of my life. |

HeadBanger, I agree totally.
Grieving. We're all just grieving ... |

At the end of the day we can only hope to see the boys again, pray for an album or 2 too apear magicly. they have the right to retire, we have the right to wish they never did. we can also express opinions on their past works, and the way their publicity team handled this. if the thoughts on this website, with a few hundred at most fans posting is much of an influence, I am amazed. these outstanding musicians have been plying their craft for decades, seeing the audience responce, which at any show outnumbers the members of the website would make me want to continue. but I cant put myself in their shoes, dont know the cause, and probably we will never know. its a shame though. |

This is the same quote that I've seen in a few places. If this is really official, then why isn't it on their OFFICIAL website? You know, the place fans go to find out info??? It would seem that touring a "farewell" tour with a brand new studio album that would be the band's last would be better marketing than touring a farewell tour of greatest hits(including some of the 3 year old Nostradamus album) without a new album, but I guess Kiss did it for 10 years and the fans just kept showing up to hear the same tracks each year. Even if by luck (and I know none of us are that lucky) the band comes out with a statement sometime next year of a new studio album we still should be either sad, pissed or confused by this news of the 'Epitaph" tour.
It just killed it for me because I haven't seen Judas Priest live since the 1988 Ram It Down tour. They didn't come here for the Painkiller tour and I missed both the reunion tour in 2004 and the Angel Of Retribution tour in 2005 which sucks. I was aching for this new studio album to be "normal" heavy metal so I could enjoy seeing them, and now its totally lame....I know its crazy to those who are going because of the love for the band but it is what it is,I just can't see this band live without a studio album.I'm totally "butt hurt and bent" over this. I'm not as much of a fan as most on here, however the band is still my all time favorite.
Well if this is it then at least they can't unleash any more "bad news" for us to hear eh? Fuckin Priest anyways |

I heard in an interview that ozzy dosnt do back to back shows to protect his voice, and rob likes to do several nights straight to keep his voice in shape, that explains the headlining aditions.
I do agree with the in like a lion, out like a lamb thing. but... what to do. hope for a 4 hour set this tour? THIS is what they should be doing with Priest, but instead we have Jayne.... don't get me started. I don't think that the Halford band got in the way at all. I don't think Rob wants to sit around and do nothing, he just isn't that kind of guy. He gets bored. The other guys obviously want their downtime, which is perfectly fine. Looking at how Halfords touring went this year, he only committed to the summer. I think he was waiting to see what Priest was going to do. When it was clear they wouldn't be doing anything, he then booked with Ozzy and during this tour is also doing headline shows. If Halford was his main focus, I think he would have booked dates next year as well. I could be totally off base though, who really knows? JT,Head Banger,HRMG and Metal Meltdown all have it right 100%. Especially Metal Meltdown: "In like a lion, out like a lamb". As I keep saying the Nostradamus album is an incredible achievement and its a well rounded album of epic master piece even I can see that although I don't care for the album, its still a masterpiece and it looks like they busted thier asses creating it.
But its not "Judas Priest" its just not and why is it so hard for K.K. to accept this? The Nostradamus album is K.K.'s baby as he is the one that thought of this entire concept and that is a "fact" not an opinion. Rob and Glenn then jumped in and the rest is history. This may be the "worst ending" of any band's career here guys. Its left a bitter taste in my mouth and its left this forum saddened, angry and confused.
ALL of us and I mean "ALL" of us can handle that the band is retireing,it sucks but each and every one of us can deal with that, but we "ALL" were waiting on pins and needles for this next massive rush of power as Hellrider says with pride,we have all really been waiting for this since 3 weeks after the release of Nostradamus for 2 and a half years and now just to read some shit "BIG NEWS" of the band doing a final world tour with NO ALBUM.
And do you like the way Jayne worded it: "However, the Priest will be going out strong playing all the songs that made them famous blah blah blah"ect...ect... Going out strong? With the nostradamus album being thier last? "STRONG"? Who the fuck does she think she is fooling here? They aint going out "strong" with a stadium full of fans that are half and half: Half of them will be excited to see them one last time and the other half is sad that they have no new album". I think it would be "better" if they just said "fuck the tour" and fuck the new album and the fans as well and just go home and golf for christ's sake. FUCK IT.
Ozzy's fans got a new album even though it sucks, they still got an album....Iron Maiden's fans got a new album,Motorhead's fans will have a new album in January,Saxon's fans will get one in March and if Dio didn't pass away he was working on "2" new Dio records and another Heaven & Hell studio album and was planning on recording into his 70's.
But Priest's fans get "nothing". Yes we are all freaking glad that we have the past albums blah blah fucking blah but after 2 and a half years waiting for this next album with reading interviews of Glenn hinting about the next studio LP perhaps sounding "retro" and with Halford mentioning a possible new album a while ago....it gave us all hope and got our hopes up extremly high and now this shit. Judas Priest have turned into "Fun Vampiers" as they suck the fun out of everything lately.
