My mother's birthday is Aug. 16th. May 8th would mean you were a Taurus, but I don't get that "vibe" from you. I know some Taurus' and they are, shall we say, difficult. I've always tried to be uniquely me, never followed trends. I like what I like and don't care who agrees with me. I've been called strange and wierd and to those people I say "Thanks for the compliment!'. They get confused and wait while I explain that being called strange and wierd means that I'm unique and different, unlike most people, and that's exactly what I was aiming for!

You mentioned United We Stand. After my fiance died this past June, I was trying to think of a way to pay tribute to him. Here in N.Y. on Friday nights we listened to the Eddie Trunk metal show on Q104.3 together. So I wrote an e-mail to Eddie about my fiance dieing, and about being a fan of the show and a huge Judas Priest fan (if you've heard the show then you know Eddie is also a huge Priest fan and has them on the show often). Eddie wrote back that he would say something on the air to pay tribute to Michael (my fiance), and that I should call in once the show began to remind him. Well after saying some really nice words about Michael, the first song he played that he dedicated to him was, United We Stand. So now everytime I hear that song it has special meaning for me.

I gained a lot of respect when Dee went to the Congressional hearings and represented Metal and Rock in general....and having to explain on Capitol Hill what SMF stood for....and the way he shot down Tipper Gore (of the PMRC)....what's not to love about Dee Snyder and Twisted Sister....they're one of the few bands that didn't cower to legislation and 'what's popular'....they never 'sold us out'..

Morning Caron, you will never be alone here!! Never!! Never, ever put any stock in those that try to bring you down or try change you. You have to live with you, and that's all that matters. True friends will love you through thick and thin, no matter what, and that's the greatest gift one can give to another.
It looks like the 40+ crowd (?) has been chimming in (I'm 42), and even though you 'don't have to be old to be wise', there is something to be said for enduring life's challenges (God knows they never stop).
I don't get into a lot of today's trends, never have been a follower, and that comes with the ridicule of be 'stuck', but I see it differently. Our age changes, what makes us happy and comfortable doesn't.
As for being shy?! I couldn't tell!!

Darl you are so far from alone here, Even though we are all from different parts of the world i feel that we all have a special connection - It's great how music can bring people together... UNITED WE STAND!
I can totally relate to being shy at first, but once im in my comfort zone i let loose.. im a wild child every part a 20 year old chick with no boundaries.
Another thing to add, we are all here for each other and will be there when your feeling blue.. to quote Judas Priest: "So when you get those blue days, here's just what to do... Switch into this lifeline and feel it rushing through. Before you know it blue days are better left behind. By juicin' up your system with this beat of a heavy kind.." IM GONNA ROCK FOREVER! From a band who knows the true value of playing their musical instruments with talent and a guy who knows how to sing like the heavens are opening up! We love the Priest.

Very well said mate. I guess i'm still feeling a bit burnt by what happened between me and my best mate. We had been close friends for 6 years, went overseas together spent heaps of time together, have heaps of awesome memories, then one day out of the blue she starts ignoring me - when i finally got to talk to her she was not the same person. She'd gone the way of the trend. I think i suddenly became uncool to her.  We never had a fight prior to this happeneing, there was no indication anything was wrong. I feel like she was reprogrammed.. perhaps by them UFO people HA! I have other friends, i just don't have much in common with them - which can get a bit annoying. I will say though i work with a guy who's around the age of a few of you "oldies" he's great, loves all the music i do. So at work we communicate through song lyrics and no-one has a clue. .
I will add to my defence.. i am a shy person to begin with, alot of people tell me that i don't seem intrested in much. I guess i just have to come out of my shell a little more, which i am trying hard to do.
