I posted this video before but didn't know the date it was from. It is from MARCH 10, 2011!! KK is talking about the upcoming Epitaph tour and is obviously ONBOARD for it!!! So what the hell happened between March 10 and April 20???? Seems to me KK didn't like how the writing of the new album was going and some management decisions, so he decided to leave the band sometime AFTER March 10th. So many of those tickets were not sold under false pretenses as we believed (unless KK isn't telling us here that he had already made up his mind to leave the band).

I haven't posted about KK's departure in more than two weeks. Why? Because the discussion is over for me. KK out: fine, Richie in: fine. KK and the band have probably thought about this for months, so there ain't no way he's going to make a surprise return. A reason that causes someone to retire from his very own band after forty years is not something he'll forget about in a couple of weeks and say "hey guys, mind if I join back?". Of course I, like every other fan, have that little hope that one day he'd come back, but that's something I know to be as likely as winning millions in a national lottery. Unlike some I'm not pointing out any fingers to whom should be held responsible for this turn of events: maybe it was the management, maybe they did argue about Nostradamus or money or some other shit, or maybe KK just doesn't want to do it anymore. But who the fuck knows? Knowing the true reason wouldn't make the situation any better than it is now.
Yeah, it could have been handled better and they could have announced the thing earlier, but I certainly wouldn't have wanted to hear in February just after I bought the tickets that "yeah so KK ain't coming along and we might not tour at all because we still aren't sure about a replacement, sorry for the inconvenience and leaving you in doubt for the next few months". At least now we know what the band is going to do, even if it was slapped on our faces. Yeah, it sucks with the farewell tour and all, but it's not the end of the world. There's still four old members you can say goodbye to, and KK is so exceptionally easy to contact that you can easily say your goodbye to him as well. Maybe you can't give him a goodbye in a concert but the idea is still the same, it might lack some feeling but that's life, it's not good all the time.
Those who think that the band's over for them when one member is replaced, especially when it's a key member, fine. Move on, listen to the old albums and watch the old DVDs, don't buy the new album and don't buy tickets for the new tour. But don't start bitching about it to us who still wan't to support the band. And especially don't say that everything Priest will do in the future will be crap if you haven't yet heard a single song where Richie plays with Priest. Who knows, it might turn a lot better than people are expecting.
Believe me I was just as much shocked about the news as everyone else, in fact I mourned all the way through 20th April when I heard this. KK was probably my most favourite member of the band and I still like him, largely due to the fact that he's so positive, easy to contact, and has kept his feet on the ground. Not saying that the other members are the opposite, but there's a little percent of something in KK that makes him my favorite slightly more than other members. I'm still supporting both the band and KK, there's no way even a serious matter like this would change that. If life gives you lemons, eat them of at least make some fucking juice out of them, don't just throw them away and let them rot.
I'm sure that many will disagree with the above text. But hey, everyone's entitled to opinion, and I don't think I attacked anyone in my post. In fact I think that I'll ignore this thread just to make sure I don't start arguing with someone, because there is not one correct opinion about this one.

I hope you are wrong about it being like the Halford band, that would blow huge chuncks. I would rather they just call it quits like K.K. Downing did. But now that you say that it makes sense because Halford will probably have more pull now with K.K. gone. Personally I can't believe people are blaming management alone for what has happened. The guys in the band are just as much to blame if not more so. I don't believe for one second that they have absolutely zero control over their band, the direction it takes and the decisions they make. This is just the latest in 30 years of crappy decisions Priest have made since 1981. The tour is a farce, the tickets were sold under false pretences and I am predicting a rather boring, metal by numbers kind of album in the vein of the Halford band. By that I mean competant but not spectacular.

I do like the new photo of the band. Everyone knows, except Osama Bin Laden, that KK left Judas Priest. But they still needed to put a guitar in this hand during the photo shoot to make us feel... he must sleep with his guitar. That is the only way, we the fans, will feel if he is a near equal replacement guitarist for KK ... by taking a picture of him while holding a "WHITE" guitar (NICE ALSO THAT HE HAS THE SAME HAIR COLOUR AS KK)...similar to one of KK's guitar colours? IT would have been classic to have also in his photo INCLUDE... drum sticks in his hair and a wireless head-set micriphone and foot pedals for bass chords...then he could have replaced Rob, Glenn,Ian,and Scott. The new album everyone is referencing to is in the CAN. Nortradamus was produced by Glenn Tipton and KK Downing. The new album is most likely in limbo or being recut because of KK's departure. I new guy keeps the bank going. When Rob left it wasn't the same with Ripper. THAT IS WHY ROB CAME BACK. Now that KK is out we can only hope for the day when KK COMES BACK. When that day is I don't know.

I know it sounds sad and I ll probably get told to get off the forum but I agree. The last tour should have KK stood there not some other guy. It s just not gonna be the same without him. After the last tour they could then hire who the hell they liked and carry on. I can;t believe that KK is not gonna be there. We are just sick and tired of these trolls that come on here and bitch and stir things up on purpose to make people angry. They are a waste of time. Those are the people that I was talking about and I'm sure J.D. was too. They are trolls and not real fans of Priest. The "true fans" of Priest are more than welcome to speak their mind and J.D. has told them that. It's obvious when people are not true fans, like brian_evans for example. There are many of us here, including you, that are supporting Priest through this, although many of us with a heavy heart. It's a very hard time for many of us and to have these assholes come on here that claim to know Priest when they clearly don't and think they are going to "teach" us something is just ridiculous. They are not true fans and that is who I was referring to and I'm sure J.D. was too.
Bitching? Who's bitching? Some true fans are sincerely upset. They're simply voicing their opinions. They're entitled to it. Like you do JD. And have done since Nostradamus was released. Of course some are here to stir the pot a little. The Vets seem to take care to mediate. And thankfully, too.

The only thing KK might be guilty of is standing behind whatever project the band were issued, making the best of it, AND letting fans get close (via meet&greets). I wonder whose idea that was. Nah. I don't. I know whose idea it was

I listen a lot to Classical music and film themes. I love Film music, I find it big and dramatic and it really touches my emotions. I love the fact that you can put together a piece of video footage and music and the combination transforms the whole thing into something very special or emotional.
So you can see my influences, through the years and currently, are a mixed bag, but I believe that’s necessary to really give you the depth and inspiration you need to compose songs or play guitar. My main love is, of course, Metal. But i genuinely believe it really helps when writing if you take your inspiration from a wide choice of music so that what you create is very different and unique.

If the album turns out like Nostradamus then perhaps K.K. wanted to do a traditional album,if the album turns out like a typical heavy briitish metal album then it must of been K.K. who wanted to continue more experimental material,we will see.
My money is laying on Rob and Glenn putting out a kick ass heavy metal Judas Priest album,especially with new blood in the band. Last time they got a new member(Ripper) the album "Jugulator" was heavy as hell,it may not of been all that great of material but it was heavy as hell and I'd lay money on that Rob and Glenn will come up with something better than Jugulator.
I am excited about the new lineup and tour,I am in full support of Mr.Faulkner and in support of Rob,Glenn,Ian and Scott as I'm glad they are continueing Judas Priest for us "true fans".

Actually, I think Curbishly stuck Nos in their laps. Remember the Who's years of doing rock operas? That all quit, when they quit Curbishly, the fact that they produced those records in the only years rock opera was widely accepted is the only way they made it. His management is like death to any band. The fact JP are even surviving under his management team is a miracle! Why do they stay with them??? Last time they got a new member(Ripper) the album "Jugulator" was heavy as hell,it may not of been all that great of material but it was heavy as hell and I'd lay money on that Rob and Glenn will come up with something better than Jugulator.
I am excited about the new lineup and tour,I am in full support of Mr.Faulkner and in support of Rob,Glenn,Ian and Scott as I'm glad they are continueing Judas Priest for us "true fans".

Whatever you've written...."cool"...good for you,but the Nostradamus album was "K.K.'s creations" and it was his idea,not managements,I know this for a bold faced fact. And define true fans? Those of us that post here that are not bitching about the band moving forwards without fucking K.K. Downing.

I am looking forwards to seeing Riche Faulkner in the band,and Judas Priest moving forwards and I really think this next album is going to silence a lot of these people who think they should of retired once K.K. left.

Downing,but when Graham Oliver left Saxon in 1995 Saxon fans thought the sound would be destroyed,but they got Doug Scaratt and in my opinion Doug fits in Saxon better than Oliver did,but I don't think Faulkner fits "better" than K.K. I'm not saying that,but the "sound" and albums may be better with Faulkner than the Nostradamus album "with K.K.".
K.K. leaving the band in my opinion is a blessing in disguise because had he stayed the band would be ruined and we would never get another studio album. Wait untill the next LP is released,you may be eating your words.

Guido I agree. I know this could of been handled better and that could of been handled better but the overall point is "it is what it is". So what if they held out the information on K.K. leaving so they could get more ticket sales,maybe they did maybe they didn't but if they did,so what.
The management sucks thats obvious but if it bothered me that much as some of these people then why keep posting here? Its not like Rob or Glenn are going to read a few people's comments and change thier mind and retire the band cause some poeple think they should?

Man guys wake up and boycott this farce, and let Big Business know you won't accept it.. If Priest had any class they would get it together for the fans. And don't blame Scott, being the newest guy obviously he is the 'stooge' in this, I feel bad for him having to be the face on this debacle. You are so right about JP Management missing the boat. Instead of worring about the boat full of fans...they are worring about a boat full of cash. If the band of Judas Priest was on a boat and they only had one life vest between the five of them...who should get it? Well, if JP management had their way they would : let the boat sink, collect the five bodies, clone the dna of KK,IAN,ROB,GLENN,SCOTT, replicate full size drones, put the life vest on the KK clone, tell the world HE(the KK clone acting as the real KK) selfishly put the life vest on when the boat was sinking, publically execute KK's clone, Find a replacement guitarist that looks like KK, put the replacement on a boat promissing him RICHie RICH, sink the boat killing the replacement, collect the dna of RICHie RICH, replicate a full size drone, publically annouce they have a replacement for the Selfish and Bad ex-member of Judas Priest KK Downing, then have drone Scott make a public announcement about how JP is an institution that needs to continue without KK and that we owe it to the fans to tour without him.
Does that sound about right? Now if a boat full of true JP fans were in JP management control....we all would : over throw JP management, resisitate the corpuses of the original boat sinking to less than 7 days expired, ask Jesus Christ to bring back the real and true Judas Priest Band of KK,IAN ROB,GLENN,SCOTT, and invite Christ to the back stage party and Rob's Christmas bash.

Like my brother, Tom, said on KK's 'Steel Mill' website blog is "WHO THE FUCK IS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE STAGE TOUR" NOT THE "EPITAPH TOUR"! Excuse me if I misspell any musician in the next sentence because I am pissed off right now. I don't care if you replaced KK with fucking Eddy Van Halen, Michael Schanker, Joe Santriani, Sammy Hagar, Neal Sean, Toni Iomi, the other Schanker brother and goddam Jesus Christ in his follow robe. I can't believe Scott Travis said that Judas Priest must go on with out KK. Shit, why don't we just bring back Les Binks and tell Scott to take a hike. You saw what happen when Rob left the band. The band and him were in limbo. I was shocked when he said he was leaving JP. Now, KK. This is unbelieveable. I just hope that they are not hiding something more from us than just a management issue here. Of course there is Ian's Blues / Jazz roots as well. At the end of the day, if I recall RockNRoll history, the genre's roots are in R&B.
