I guess they are doing a cover song EP from what I hear. Every song they have covered that I have heard I have not been impressed by. I'm glad I didn't hear their version of Straight Through The Heart! They just aren't talented enough to do these songs justice. I like them, but I'm not happy with what they are doing now.

@Headbanger ...I like Killswitch's "Holy Diver". At least no one can say they tried to copy him, it's definitely their own, butchered vocals and all. (lol)

Absolutely right HB - Priest can cover a song and make it better by putting their own spin on it. If you can't improve the song, then don't cover it when you are an established band, IMO. Halestorm taking a song played by 2 awesome guitarists, and playing it with one mediocre guitarist is just a bad decision.

At least Priest could cover a song and make it their own version.

Funny thing is that she STILL seems to have to to sing at a lower register than Rob! Certainly doesn't come close to his emotion.
Hell, I hated Slayer's version and I'd peg this version a notch higher. NOT to be confused with me actually enjoying either.....

It completely SUCKS and should NEVER EVER be released!! The guitar solo? Sounded absolulely nothing like KKs solo. No surprise there because Joe is no where near talented enough to pull that off. I thought their version of the Lita Ford/Ozzy deut of Close My Eyes Forever was bad, but this was so much worse.

Lzzy sings it better in this vid than she did last night. She was screaming it last night rather than singing and it sounded horrible, you couldn't understand a word. The guitar work is still just as pitiful here as it was last night. Wonder what kind of "studio magic" they will use to make it sound better. They definitely need to stop playing it live

I just scroll down, any I want to answer rightclick the reply button and hit open link in new tab..... Ah, well. While I didn't order the Epitaph DVD, fur sure I'll get it at the local FYE...along with a new Chickenfoot CD. ANOTHER thing that is pissing me off. I can't find my Chickenfoot CD!!!

Damn, just ran through the whole day on Vh1 too. No other showing. 7am JP Behind the Music Revisited if I am still awake. HAAA!
Tough call. Got speed delivery on Epitaph and, as you say, I can watch it as many times over as I want. Moral? Yeah, I'll probably be flipping channels! CERTAINLY watching the curtain drop for intro into "Rapid Fire."

Hmmm...when you receive the Epitaph DVD and Blu-Ray you will get to watch the concert as many times as you want, and who knows if they'll show that particular hockey game ever again. Eh, I'd go with watching the game. Unless, of course, you like spoilers and wouldn't mind switching back and forth during commercials.

Seeing that the spam here has been saturating YouTube as well. Absolutely insane.
At least those are being identified and removed as spam.

I couldn't agree more.
I've reduced my posts to almost nothing and considered posting today mentioning some of the same things you did only
to change my mind because it's useless. I've been here 3 years and have been the problem on more than one occasion
but to me this site is at it's lowest point since I've been here. Interaction is minimal and who can go through the posts. I know
I've missed things because of all the incessant posts in every thread. Screw it. I just try to ignore it (without the button) and
post what I can. It really seems like a waste of time though.

Truth is, no-one has the right to judge that - it's a very individual and personal thing. I'm leaning more towards the latter option, and admit that Priest has made some very poor decisions in their career and not every song by them is a masterpiece (some of them are hideously bad), but I also respect the opinion at the other end of the spectrum.
Arguing about this matter is even more stupider than the more common arguments among metal fans - that of the purpoted superiority of a certain subgenre or band. At least in those cases it's the fans of different bands that are arguing, but here we have fans of the same band attacking each other, claiming their view is correct. And when the argument slows down a bit, instead of trying to settle either one of the sides will start flogging the proverbial dead horse again and spark up the same discussion. This furthers nothing but the declination of this site's importance.
I don't care who started all of this, but it's really making the site feel inhospitable. So could you all please put an end to it? Stop replying to each others' messages, and if it's too hard to do it on your own, use the ignore button so you won't see the messages of whomever you think is offending your own views too much.

Amen. You'll notice that I stopped with two words: "good riddance." I mean what I say.
It was very nice to have a real convo going last night. Hadn't had one that wasn't interrupted in quite a while.

So I had this conferance call at work today. happens about once every 6 weeks. its suposed to be the senior opperations managers accross north america. so I was annoyed, no one bothered to find out that today was a holiday in canada. whatever. then for an hour we try to listen thru all kinds of background noise because of the 400 people on the damn call a significant number cant figure out how to mute their damn phone. fuck me, if you cant figure that out how can they possibly actualy fucking lead people. |
