WOULDN'T SAY CLASSIC PRIEST,BUT IN NO WAY CRAP EITHER...I FIND THESE TWO IDEAL TO INTRODUCE NEWCOMERS TO PRIEST,THEN EDGE THEM UP THE LADDER TOWARDS THE LIKES OF "DEFENDERS" AND "SCREAMING" FOR EXAMPLE.... FIND THIS WORKS VERY WELL. |

They're neither. Both albums have some excellent songs, but also contain average/below part songs. POE is superior to Turbo, but it's nowhere near their best |

I love POE. Not too crazy about Turbo.
I think POE was inspired by the state of Arizona, which is an awesome place. I like all the songs on it and play it all the time. |

Point of Entry is very hit and miss for me. I don't HATE anything that Priest have done, but this album is at the tail end of their releases, if I were ranking them top to bottom. Turbo, Ram It Down and Rocka Rolla (sorry) would be below it. That said, Heading Out to the Highway and Rough Desert Plains are classics. Hot Rockin, Solar Angels, All the Way and On the Run are good. The rest, especially You Say Yes, Don't Go and Troubleshooter are getting just a bare pass.
Turbo opens really well with two great songs. I liked the experiment with the synth guitar. I also liked Out in the Cold. A lot of the other songs were to teen oriented and I have to admit it felt like I was listening to a KISS album. Lots of anthems, but not up to the standards of British Steels anthems. Parental Guidance? Private Property? Rock You All Around The World? Not one of JP's shining moments. |

POE was a great album and even better tour. I was there in 1981 and I'll never forget the Palladium in NYC. Priest & Maiden (Killers). Nuff said. MpleSyrp |

Turbo was a major disappointment (to me). I never did understand the criticism of Point of Entry
though. I like that album alot. That was also the first Priest tour that I saw and they totally kicked ass
on that one. That concert made them my favorite band. |

I know that some JP fans have a problem with these two albums ( maybe cus they are not as heavy as the others?) but i gotta say that i really like both!!
POE and Turbo contain some killer songs such as....Desert Plains,Heading Out To The Highway, Hot Rockin,Turbo Lover,Out In The Cold and the veeerrry underated 'Reckless'.
I would love to see Priest play more songs from these albums on the next tour.
ANYONE AGREE?? |
