Do we actually read posts before posting.  I wrote that I vote based on the candidates past voting record.  What did I post that makes you post that the union buys this or tells you to do that.  It's nowhere in my postings.
I do what I do in my union because I believe in workers rights, fair representation, and having a say in my working conditions.  Unions allow workers to do that.  A business?  As long as there's an IRS, everything is a business.  There are costs involved in forming a union.  There's rental of space for meetings, travel and training expenses.  Let's not kid ourselves here, nothing is free, my friends.
I posted some facts and quotes to support my position, and I have plenty more.  All this generalizing just leads me to believe that some postings on this issue is just the same old rhetoric I hear from my bosses.
Please, if we're going to discuss things, then let's just do that.

unions are a business now, trying to gain members to make money.  there is no true care for the individual, but the way they package that is to try to apeal to the lower achievers, and bring the higher achivers down to that level.  of course reducing output is not helpfull in the long run to them, or their members, but short term they look good.

what once had its place, was even a good thing, is now destroying most of the gains they helped create.

In a nation with free enterprise as it's infrastructure, the need for unionization is rarely needed. Survival of the fittest. Work hard and you eat. Become lazy and your position is terminated. Simple. But in a democracy, everyone is equal. Backwards communism that America packages to your masses. The government of the day buys and pays for your vote through your union. And as long as oyu remain a member, they do influence your vote. And you are bought and paid for, too. Think about it.

Do you believe that your character devolpes along with the friends you keep? Like if your friends drink, more then likley you do. If you friends do drugs, you might try them? In other words can your friends be an influence in your life, and cause you to make decisions based on their influence? And taxing the rich means taxing the employers. You know, the people that employ us. Sounds like more cut backs to me. Besides giving himself a raise, and some buddies in his state, what has he done? And do tell me of all these rightwing channels, please name the co-hosts also, lol. I think we are more alike Ron when it comes to politics, i just wouldn't let a union decide who i'm going to vote for. I was in a union, my father too, his father also. But i'm an indivdual, and nobody makes or tells me who to vote for. I'am not a zombie for any party. As far as the media being fair, i think you can be more honest then that. I bet you think the radio is all far right, lol? But that's fine, right? Either way

A little girl asked her father, "Daddy? Do all Fairy Tales begin with 'Once Upon A Time?'"

And he replied, "No, there is a whole series of Fairy Tales that begin with 'If Elected I promise...'"

same principles most good interviewers use to hire people, which in reality is what your doing in an election.

In today's global economy, trade policy is a key issue for working families.  We need a dramatic change from current policies, which are tilted towards multinational corporations and their desire to move jobs across borders as easily as possible, without regard for workers, communities and the environment.
McCain voted for NAFTA and still thinks it was "a good idea".  He supported Bush's CAFTA treaty, along with the US-Korea Free Trade Agreement, even though it puts tens of thousands of US auto jobs at risk.
Obama on NAFTA: "We should use the hammer of a potential opt-out as leverage to ensure that we actually get labor and environmental standards that are enforced".  He opposed CAFTA and the US-Korea FTA, and he doesn't believe in tax breaks for companies that send jobs overseas.

Depends on what channel you watch, seriously.  That is why I vote according to how the candidates voted.  Talk is cheap, I look to their actions, the past doesn't lie.

By the way, I will not get involved in any discussions on race and things like that.  I think stuff like that is a distraction from what I think are the real issues.  I never disrespected McCain, I know he seved our country, I served in the US Marines myself.  I was/am willing to give my life defending this country as much as anyone else, and I backed it up by signing on the dotted line.

Since GW Bush took office in 2001, the US has lost 3,000,000 manufacuring jobs.

Manufactoring jobs, which one is going to protect us?  McCain: "Some of the jobs that have left...are not coming back.  They are not".
OBama: "We need to make sure our automakers are ready to build these next-generation vehicles right here in the US, which is exactly what my energy plan will do".

I don't want to start a political war here, and as long as things stay cool, I'll stay a part of this discussion.
Keep in mind when you're reading my posts that I am wrtiting from primarily a pro labor point of view.  It doesn't matter union/anti union, labor is labor.
One big problem labor has is the NLRB.  The NLRB is suppose to protect the NLRA and enforce worker's right.  The labor board is made up of appointees made by the President.  Labor has suffered as a result of changes in law that favor management and make it more difficult to hold them accountable for labor rights violations.

Everything i just read below this post is fact. Ron you are one of the first friends i made here and i do not wish to damage that friendship. But really, do you think the media is fair to both parties? Just answer this one easy basic question.
[Painkiller1990] Tuesday, September 23, 2008 10:14:39 PM
Really, Ron?  Based on what exactly? What exactly has Obama done for unions? What has McCain done to hurt them?
Right now, people like me, the WORKING class could care less about the Union I'm in, rather, we care more about not having a racist, anti American in the oval office.  See, we actually have a problem voting for someone who chooses to be close friends and colleagues with unrepentant domestic terrorists, and attend Churches for twenty years where they teach black liberation theology and how evil the White Man is. See, I disagree with Obama's Pastor when he says evil White people invented the AIDS virus in order to wipe out the black race.
Not to mention I have no desire to see my taxes go up so Obama can pay for a trilliion dollars worth of social programs while gutting the military. And.... most recently, I also have a problem with Obama wanting to give 50 billion dollars a year to the UN so they can give it to poor countries in an effort to end poverty.

Nope!   NOBAMA 09.     I'll be voting for the real American Hero in this race, a Man who gave everything for his country, a true American hero.
The only one running in this election who actually did fight for you.
And from the looks of it, he's going to clean Obama's clock big time

Can someone point me to an interview where Obama is asked some really tough questions? How about an interview with someone who opposes him? Bill O'Rielly doesn't count,(fence sitter) he's a bitch for both parties. Or maybe a skit on Obama or Biden, on Saturday Night Live? No? I didn't think so...THE GREAT REVEREND WRIGHT WILL BRING HIM DOWN... I wouldn't vote for someone who hates blacks, would you vote for someone who hates whites?

In a Democratic system, there are no truths. Only lies. Thank you very much indeed, Tony Blair,  for all the truths that you lied to us about!

As a Union leader (UAW Unit Chairman and Bargaining Committee Chairman), we need to vote for OBAMA!!!  There are many reasons for this.  Among them are the many Labor related issues that need to be addressed.  I'm not saying that I am blindly supporting ALL Dems and the GOP is ALL bad, I vote for candidates by their voting history, and based on that alone, this WORKING CLASS country can not afford to have this  particular Republican candidate in office!!!
