I don't know enough of this music to debate that list. Metallion keeps mentioning black metal so I decided to check it out. I saw that on youtube and figured that was the quickest way to check some of this out. I probably shouldn't have generalized every band with this list. It was my first listen and I commented when I probably should have explored more of it first. IMMORTAL - ONE BY ONE(Sons Of Northern Darkness album 2002) Budred listen to this opening track#1,not that this makes a difference as to weather you like it or not but Halford has this album and absolutely loves it,so do I. One By One is definately in the top 5 best Immortal songs of all time. Think Painkiller style but Norwegian black metal. Don't give up on the track with first listen.....listen at the 1:01 mark and the rest of the track,fuckin killer head banging material,just excellent in my books. Those are not or should not be the top 10 black metal bands in my opinion.  Metallian likes far more many black metal bands than I do,everybody has thier opinion.The only  2 worthy bands out of all 10 are Immortal and Gorgoroth,but I only like Gorgoroth's first album "Pentagram" not any other albums,Immortal I love 3 albums,2 others are "ok" but the other 8 bands listed there I can't get into and spanks of a poor idea of the "top ten". My top 10 black metal bands:   1.Venom (1980 - 1985)  (1996 Cast In Stone and also year 2000 Resurection album)   2.Mercyful Fate (Melissa album and Don't Break The Oath album)   3.Bathory (first 4 albums in the 80's)   4.Celtic Frost (first 2 albums only)   5.Mayhem (only with Dead and Euronymous and De Mysteriis album only)   6.Darkthrone (early 90's)   7.Emperor (early 90's)   8.Immortal (Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism,Pure Holocaust,Sons Of Northren Darkness albums)   9.Abigor (first 3 albums only) 10.Graveland  (1993 - 2002) Listen to these band's albums and you should hear a difference rather you like them or not.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Budred from Friday, April 22, 2011 11:21:53 AM)   Budred wrote:   I was reading your post about how bad Priest is and how you love Black Metal and how great it is. Hey Budred! This stuff is not for everyone i will agree with u that is for sure!! I too a couple of years ago felt the same as u,and then,last summer,got bored of the same ol Priest,Maiden,Sabbath etc etc stuff over and over for 25+ years.I needed a change. Then i bought 2 Immortal albums cause i remember JD's post from a few years back,and that was that! Glad u gave it a listen tho,most people right from the get go call it shit without trying it! U are an honest person and at least open to give it a try! I have no idea why this appeals to me,i think it is cause my brain is always going a 1000 miles an hour and this balances it out and relaxes me,believe it or not! LOL! Oh, lord. That was all but painful. Yeah, parts of the song were fine but it seemed all disjointed. Couple of cool riffs here and there but even the fine "listen" by Screechy Clown were destroyed by the overdubbed "listen, listen." Blargh. Right down to the terrible end. I am surprised that someone in the band didn't just stop him and say, look Screechy, that just sucks...please stop! LOL!

I like some old Mercyful Fate too Guido but let me tell you what I don't like and never liked: This 4 track "EP" except for the "Doomed By The Living Dead" song which is tolerable. But this dumb track "Corpse Without Soul" has got the be the worst freaking song ever, yes the music itself is cooI  but I "HATE" King's vocals here which ruins the music,it spanks of irritating crap I can't stand and never could. lol!
