Don't laugh (unless it's hysterically) I always loved the musical Cats by Andrew Lloyd (why is there a double ll) Webber. I have always loved cats... I have always had cats as pets... I see myself as a pensioner as the real life version of the crazy cat lady from the Simpsons.... I thought this was normal... then I had writers block and stayed up late and saw this documentary on Discovery where they said that if you have a severe love for cats you might have toxoplasmosis... lol
I look at my kitties in a different light now lol

I've seen The Drunken Chaperone while I was in NYC three years ago. Funny as heck! I've also seen West Side Story (not the movie) and the Lion King. It was strange and awkward seeing the latter at first. And I saw Wicked on a bootleg! HA!!

If you like the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda you might like it.

I saw a news special where they did a behind a scenes segment on it. They show the lead singer (who playes the Wicked Witch) and how she "flies" while singing. It was basically a modified cherry picker draped in black fabric that would pick her up during the climax of the song. It was cool to see.

Truth be told, I love a good musical. Saw Brigadoon, Starlight Express, Cats, Hello Dolly...good stuff.

Nope. Can't say that I am familiar with "Wicked."

Nothing better than special effects and musicals, right? Takes alot of creativity to make the performance seem out of this world.

Are you familiar with the musical Wicked?

Can you tell I saw it in Spain the first time? California twice after. I got to go behind the scenes to see the "people movers" after the show. REALLY cool. All the trap doors and lights to have the singers make their jumps and not kill themselves in the process.

Nostra is one of the worst Halford fronted Priest albums. Perhaps only Ram It down sucks more. They have (thankfully) failed to proceed with the horrendous idea of playing it all live, despite claiming after it's release they would. It almost 2 years since Nostra, so it doesn't look like that will happen. Instead they went with an album released 30 years ago. Says it all doesn't it. I like Angel Of Retribution (apart form Lochness). Priest should stick to what they play best. Bone crunching metal. Leave the poncey rock opera to Andrew Llyod Webber   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by hellrider 31038 from Thursday, April 08, 2010 8:52:50 PM)

Hey, great to see so many Nostra fans

I missed this thread on previous visits to the board.

Yeah, Vegetas, I agree fully with you:  Nostra is one of the great masterpieces of rock !  To my mind, all considered - concept, lyrics, music, musicianship, expression, production & graphics - only comparable to Floyd's The Wall, Dream Theater's Scenes From A Memory, and a few other masterpieces.

You must also be about my age (55), judging from your post.

What's behind your alias, Vegetasrevenge ?  Are you a vegetarian, like me ?

And I liked your wrap-up: "All Hail Judas Priest, seasoned veterans of metal, laying down the law and always breaking it!"

I love the Nostradamus album. It is like a rock opera on par with Superstar. A metal opera, unlike anything unleashed on the public ever before. I hope and pray that they tour with this album, I won't miss it. My first concert was Jesus Christ Superstar, I was about 10 or 11 years old. The operatic format has always struck me as a great way to get a message across.

Hey Spapad and Becks! how are you guys doing...i stop in now and again to read some posts, but don't chit chat like i use too....still playing Nostradamus a time or two a week, still love the record...everyday i get some Priest on, i have been on a 'live' kick lately and have been playing the live albums, and rare recordings i have!  waiting for the deluxe edition of British Steel!!!!! anyways, just wanted to say 'hey'!  take care!
[spapad] Friday, April 09, 2010 4:53:27 PM
This whole Nos thing reminds me of what happened when Point of Entry followed British Steel. Alot of hard core fans hated P.O.E. I didn't dislike the album as a whole, of course there are some songs on that CD that I still hit skip on to this day (we all know the ones!) So you had heavy fans complaining, and people who where more into mainstream music going, hey that's not that bad!  Which to a hardcore fan makes you want to cring when a mainstreamer says that.

Then, Screaming for Vengeance came out and moved the bar up for all bands as to what would pass for true heavy metal. SFV became an 80's gold standard to Heavy Metal.
That said, I do anticipate the next JP new release will once again raise that bar and apply a new standard to the genre of Heavy Metal, and I for one can't wait to hear it! The only time this progression of  music seemed to truely falter in all these years was the release of Turbo followed up by Ram it Down. Ram it Down as not a good LP, it really wasn't! I was very disheartened with that LP.  True it has some good songs on it but it lacks the cohhesive quality that is Judas Priest.
Just my two cents on a long debated issue.
