Well Becks if JJ misses it, then he does. Sorry to hear.

I really don't care who goes and who does not. I know what I saw, and enjoyed it to the max.

As far as everyone talking about the tour either for or against................just to be expected. It is the band's fan page afterall. No opinion will ever be right will all concerned.

If they do make it down this way JJ won't be there.
I find all this arguing over how on or off the band is tiresome. It happens every tour;  I can't really comment because I've never seen them live, but I hope I get to - as I seem to say constantly, lol! From the videos I have seen it looked like the shows in general were great and I have enjoyed what I have seen.

I agree, Halford doesn't have the high range anymore. Anyone who says he does didn't see him in the early days to be able to make a good comparison. He still does a pretty good job though with his mid and low range voice. I would say he was at his best live in the late 70's.

Wow, that's a little harsh Jimmy. I was at the Hammond show and I've been going to shows since SFV tour. Rob was better at the Hammond show than I had ever heard him live.  His stage presence was just as good as the SFV and Deffenders years. Rob's never been a big mover and shaker. That show at Hammond was fabulous. The show the next night in Detroit did not disapoint either.   I think your assessment of guido enjoying rob taking a shit is just plain insulting, and probably meant to be that way. Your usual smart ass approach, but the proof was right there for all to hear that night and I hope they make it down your way so you may have to eat those words.  I'm sure you'd be glad to eat those words if you could get that kind of show.

I disagree Jimmy. I've been talking to Guido since January 1st 2005 and these last 7 years he hasn't been a "fanboy",not even close...there are many things about Priest Guido has critisized.  I think your thinking everyone is saying Halford is ontop his game every night this tour, thats not true but I've heard from sources outside this forum that on a few shows he is better than he has been in years. Perhaps there will be a bootleg of one of these shows.

That's because if Halford recorded himself taking a shit you'd say it sounded fantastic.

I first Priest in 1982 on the SRV tour, and may times since then. They have alwaysbeen one of the tightest bands I have ever seen. Not every time was perfect, but it was always good. Rob`s vocals this time around were strong and accurate. I was quite amazed at how well he sounded just last October. the equipment issues aside last  that night I saw them, was a damn good show. They might be as young as many of these excuse for bands we have these days, but Priest  still sets the bar mighty damn high!

All a bit harsh, I would say. I first saw Priest in 1983 at the Hammersmith Odeon, and have seen them 17 times, all in, since.

Certainly, the 1983, 1988 (Ram It Down) & 1991 (Painkiller) shows were excellent, but then again we're talking up to 30 years ago and the band were all much younger, so of course they were going to be a lot more energetic.

I've heard plenty of bootlegs from the 70's & 80's where Rob's live vocals have been all over the place, so that's nothing new really.

Yes, age does take it's toll sadly, but, if you can, then we all have to make allowances for that.

What I will say though, is that these Epitaph shows, for me anyway, have been some of the best in Priest's recent past.

I saw them on the 2005 Angel Of Retribution tour & the 2008 / 2009 Priest Feast tour, and they were good (they're never bad), but on this tour they certainly seem to be giving that bit extra - whether it's bcause it's the last "world" tour, or maybe it's the "new blood" input of Richie Faulkner, I'm not sure.

Rob, however is really giving it his best shot with his vocals - Victim Of Changes in Bournemouth (the last time I saw them in 2011) was jaw-droppingly good.

I've seen them with Ripper & now I've seen them with Richie... & it's still Judas f#ckin' Priest!

Personally speaking, I'd have loved to see them in the 70's, but that ain't ever going to happen, so I'm making the most of them while I still can... & I suggest everyone does the same too.

Keep the faith!

I didnt see them in the 80's  I did see the painkiller tour, and this set was at least as good as that one, IMO

Jimmy is probably right when he says they are not as good live nowadays as they were in the 80's,I have not seen the band live since 1988 so I can't judge this tour live but from what I've seen on youtube I'd say Jimmy is pretty much right, however I do think there are shows when he is off and on....probably more shows when he is off for sure but I belive there is a small percentage of shows when he is on his game. I heard the Seattle show he struggled a bit but was still a great show but other shows I've heard he was on the mark.

I couldn't go this tour my stomach was totally wasted and just now recovering from the aftermath of it all ect...but had I not been sick I would of gone for the spirit of Judas Priest....I really don't care if I am standing there live and how loud it is if he is off ,the shock value of it all makes up for it. Like Budred said how disappointed he was in the live show...I couldn't have that feeling because of my likings for the spirit of the band in my own way. My passion is in the studio albums over live shows.

You left me out of that statement, JJ. I have been around and watching Priest / Halford since JD and Bud and I couldn't disagree more. The Priest concert in Hammond, IL (Chicago) was one of the most earth-shaking performances of any band I have seen. Halford claims to have given up smoking and I say that he has never been stronger. Only thing close was Painkiller Tour, IMO. Adding Richie to the mix, while not KK, was a genuine treat.

"Energetic" is a subjective term but, damn, were they on top of their game in Hammond. "Halford can hardly walk" is WAY off the mark. IMHO, at least. I just hope some bootleg will surface from that show to help prove the point.

But you have nothing to compare their live performance to Vail. The only time you've seen them has been in the last few years. Ask guys like JD and Budred who saw them in the 80s when they were at their peak and they'll tell you that this band is in decline and anyone who tells you Halfords voice is as good as ever is just lying. His high vocals are completely shot to hell. He doesn't scream any more, he screeches. And if you call Priests performance "energetic" then I'd hate to see a band who you thought were lethargic. Halford can hardly walk now, hobbling around, hunched over the mike trying to read the teleprompter and screeching two cats stapled together. They've got nothing left. They were once my favourite band but over the last few years I just can't be bothered.

Oh!

And I really hope they release a live DVD of their next tour. Maybe they can release a new album/live DVD combo or something!
[Vaillant 3.0] Sunday, January 08, 2012 11:22:00 AM
Hey, it could be worse. The band could've made an album with Lou Reed.

I do agree with JD in that JP is misusing their time somewhat, as they could've done a new album first and then do their final tour. However, I don't agree with JJ nor Budred about the live performances. Judas Priest have been nothing short of incredible as far as live acts go. Nobody that I've seen live so far has delivered a performance as energetic, aesthetically pleasing, professional, and complex as JP has. In fact, I wish they could continue touring even if Rob ends up in a wheelchair. At least it would be decorated with spikes and skulls and shoot flames from the back. Plus they have Richie now. New blood=new ideas=higher possibility of a kickass album.

And this is one of the reasons i have given up on listenin to Priest!
Sure i liked Nostar and Angel, but now it is 2012 and all we had was 2 albums since Rob returned in July 2003,almost 9 years!
And they don't released old stuff, live stuff from the archives, just more stupid greatest hits!
In 2010 i simply gave up,and then after Idol i took all me Priest cd's and moved them a storage area where cd's that never get played hang out!
Kind of like the island for misfit toys!LOL!
I even stopped wearing my Priest tshirts too after that Idol thing!
I was embarassed and still is!

I have moved onto other styles of metal music that feed my metal hunger!
And Priest have been left behind!
I only come in here time to time to see how u guys are doing etc!

I will not buy a live Eptiaph album,no way!
Not even sure i would buy a new studio album either seein it would just not get played!

Rock Hard Ride Free!

the only thing that was not as good was the opening acts.  Black label is a waste of my time, and thin lizzy never was that good, now they sure arent.  in hindsight should have skipped the oppeners, not often I say that.

back in the day the painkiller tour turned me on to testament, and megadeath kicks ass live....

I agree about the compilations.  especialy in this day of digital music I fail to see the point.

but I dont agree with your view on the live performance.  the show I saw was easily as good as the painkiller tour, and better than anything I have seen since.  Painkiller was my first tour, but I thought they kicked ass then, and kicked ass this tour.

personaly I want a new album, and then a new tour.....

Sorry to say but I agree.
It seems as though you're the only one bold enough to post the truth.
I do it in subtle ways at times but you just put it out there. I still love them but only because of what they've done not
what they're doing and, I know I'll get ripped for this, but they're not on top of their game live anymore either. They were
good but far removed from what I've seen in the past. All these freakin' compilations and live albums drive me crazy also.
Most here hate (don't like) Ripper but at least with him they were working. Since Rob's comeback it's been all downhill.
One (good) album in ten years. WTF.

They are boring these days in my opinion because they do not have new material. I was ready for new non-experimental material in 2007, 2 years after Angel Of Retribution and the band still haven't delivered anything yet besides an over produced watered down  rock opera LP in 2008 that sucks.

And now 4 years later they are touring instead of working on new material. They should of canceled the epitaph tour altogether after K.K.'s departure and did the new album first and then hit the world tour. Because they chose to do this Epitaph tour, this 'new album" will NOT be released this year,we will get a title for the album and all track titles,an album cover and 1 sample but I'll bet the album doesn't come out till January 2013. Sad.

They have misused thier time since Rob has come back. They should have 4 studio albums....2005,2007 which should of been Nostradamus...2009 they should of had a killer album out and 2011 another one,it pisses me off big time!
