Sorry, I grew up 20 years before you and three streets away from where they set up the sandbags and machine guns.

Read a little, kid. Malcolm X was also a key player in the movement in Michigan. Read his autobiography someday. Perhaps you'll understand that "not all rap is crap."

Open your mind, buddy.

As "Out of the Gutter" was a bad Social Distortion tune, I substitute with a song from the classic "Out of the Cellar" by Ratt! LOL!!!!!!

[guidogodoy] Sunday, December 27, 2009 9:40:30 PM
It was released in 2004. I have it.

Depends on the site (they played various) but it was either a three or four song set. All freely available on the internet if you know where to look. I have:

> Living After Midnight [02:22]

> The Green Manalishi [03:42]

> You've Got Another Thing Coming [03:37] (cuts to commercials)

> commercial break

> (.. back to ..) You've Got Another Thing Coming [02:50]

Thanks man. Its not Metal by any stretch but I really enjoyed the "departure", as it were. Always fun to try something new, vocally. Kind of put my own "spin" on the genre. If nothing else, it certainly helped give me some more exposure and I am always thankful for that!

NP  JP:  Angel

I'm completely bowled over by Rob's singing on this one

Actually I'm always enraptured by Rob's singing

Who else in metal has so much expression in his voice ?  Geoff Tate, Russ Allen, Eddie Vedder, maybe one or two more

Of course, depends on ones genre taste too.

I go for progmetal, and whether you guys like it or not, Priest have become a very progressive lot

Nicky.

One of my fave Priest pieces. Has something of the same mood as Zep's Kashmir

And of course Percy and Rob are brothers

altho not lovers

Thanks to you too, Guido

Yes, you were right:  I switched to Firefox and got both the paragraph change and typo options. Great ! So now I can start emoting too

My smear, two posts ago, was due to my missing the paragraph thingy ... but it looks like my new friends made their way thru. Thanks

Now I hope that I don't start losing friends by admitting that I really dig

NP  Trivium:  Shogun

Fabulous album, if ya can take some growl; lotta melody and excitement, and challenging lyrics.

I don't really enjoy their first two albums, but somewhere between Ascendancy and Shogun they got it right

Nicky, just got a point as a hearty welcome from me as well.

Second is that I run a Mac lab. Word of warning, you REALLY have to tweak the settings to get Safari to play nice with the smileys here. You won't even be able to see them with a standard install if you are using that browser. I am beginning to sound like a broken record here but switch to Firefox (www.firefox.com). No need to uninstall Safari but the Smileys will pop right up with Firefox. /Guido

Thanks for the points and friendships, guys - very much appreciated !!!

I wrote that "the rock scene in Denmark is pretty miserable", but we actually have some fine metal groups here - not Priest and Dream Theater class, but promising - like

NP (Now Playing) Anubis Gate: Purification

Actually quite close to Priest in style.

It's just sad that these excellent Danish groups are never played in the media, which is filled with the aforementioned and Idol-crap - fun for kids, but insufferable for us rock veterans.

Edit: OK, I got the trick of using the "Standard version". Now I just have to find the typographic options and smileys on my fiancee's Mac.

Thank you, Kirb. I really appreciate that. I honestly believe that singing is a gift. Not everyone can do it and I understand that. I feel very lucky that I can, although I do not think I am much more than a journeyman. I enjoy it. I have passion for it and I try to make sure it shows when I do it.

Hi Nicky! Sands of Time/Pestilence and Plague are my favorites on Nostradamus! I just felt something the first time I heard those two and just kept hitting repeat! I hope your friends like it. I'm glad you were welcomed warmly and I too gave you the only point I have control over. Spread the word and Keep the Faith

WOW, I'm overwhelmed, thanks sooo much for the warm welcome, guys. I'v never been welcomed so warmly before on any chatforum, and I'v been on many, tellya. And I can already see from the posts here that the regulars are decent and cultured people. So this sure is propitious. I spent three years on the Arena board The Shattered Room. (Anyone here know of Arena ?) That was great and I got to know lots of fantastic music thru those guys. Lately, several of the active posters there left, and I became the main poster, the daily entertainer. I got tired of this one-sidedness, and over the years I'v also become more metal, so I think I'l feel more at home here on the Priest Noticeboard. Man, there's so much going on here !!! The worst experience I had was on the Neverboard, the official Nevermore board - avoid that forum, guys ! Pity, cause I really like Nevermore, and Jeff's soloalbum is a bomb. (Any other Nevermore fans here ?) The Neverboard is guarded by a tiny cabal of incredibly nasty people who don't in the least restrain themselves in insulting newcomers. Whooo, I still shudder at the thought. So I fully understand the filters set up by the administrators of the Priest Board. I know that there are a lotta offensive people around in Cyberworld. Yup, I feel really great here with nice people like you guys who seem to know masses about rock, and it's like an adventure reading all the exciting posts here. OK, on-topic: I'm listening to, whilst I'm burning, a "Starters Kit For Prog" that I'm making as a Christmas present for my friends. And guess what: There are three tracks from Nostradamus on it: Sands Of Time, Pestilence And Plague, and Lost Love. The rock scene in Denmark is pretty miserable. In the radio they play hiphop, r'n'b and sentimental stuff like Beatles and Queen - and worst of all: That's what my friends think is rock ! So therefore the Starters Kit (also including nice stuff by Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, Queensrche and other great groups). And I'd think that this lengthy post should give me at least three respect points. I would also like to welcome you Niki. I think we, or at least I, have been remiss in our responsibilities as "regulars" to make sure that newcomers know they are very welcome here and encouraged to stay and contribute.

While no system is "perfect" or "fool proof", I believe Murray (webmaster) has done what he can to at least slow-up those that would come here strictly to cause trouble. And there are many. Conversely, there are many very good people here. Friends. If there is anything I can encourage you as a newbie to do, it would be to make friends. That is what is most important, in my mind. That is why most of the regulars are here and why we have stayed over the years regardless of the idiots that seek to breakdown what they cannot ever really have.  Friends.

You will find that there are some great people here and you may even be lucky enough, some day, to actually meet a few of us..maybe even attend a Priest show together, as so many of us have done these past couple years. Heck, you may even make some Priest music together. We have done that as well!!!!

Hi Nicky007, welcome to the board! Click on the information tab and then the link that says All new members read this first. It explains the respect points. You are restricted to the new members topics for the first month and then you will be allowed to post in all topics after that. It's a way to keep the bad apples away (or at least slow them down). I hope you enjoy your time here!

You need at least 50 Respect Points, and you just need to post, make friends, and stay out of trouble. It's supposed to help hinder any potential troublemakers. Don't worry, man. Before you know it, you'll be able to post anywhere.

And while not the biggest fan of Lost Love, I do enjoy giving all of Nostra a spin before going to bed every once in a while. It's like watching a late-night movie.

OK, so we have to collect "respect points" before we can talk with the big guys. I'm wondering how much, and maybe even what, one has to post before getting there. But iac here's a beginning.

I listen to Nostradamus every day. Lost Love is my fave these days. The melody is sooo catchy, and Rob sings sooo shatteringly on that one. I simply can't get enuff of that song, and I can't get enuff of Nostradamus, I'm addicted to it. When I'm not playing it, I'm humming the melodies for myself.

Else Jeff Loomis' Zero Order Phase and Dream Theaters's Black Clouds are spun a lot here, fabulous albums too.

Nicky.
