The power metal one called Forever Young, I am writing lyrics for. Its for my kids. I have the melody for it together already.....I have sparked interest by Jim, the drummer. I am waiting for him to get back to me..... I finally listened to the new material over on AP, with an ear towards doing some of it this time but I find I may need MM with me to do this right. I mean, I have some tremendous inspiration from the music and I did hum a few bars of melody and start some lyrics but the breaks need to be changed or something. It is very difficult to do without Phil here.
I figure I can get a basic melody written and do some lyrics but I do not know if we can get it refined enough in the time I am there. Let's hope so! | | Head banger wrote: | | the original is definatly worthy of remembering. a couple of original peices on the new one please. |

You're forgetting the original!! Our "signature" intro to the now classic album. HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some superstar YOU turned out to be! HAHAHAHAHAHAA!! And yes, we did talk about the speed of Nostradamus. Probably a bit too ambitious anyway. I do like Killing Machine. That is a good one. |

Killing Machine I would like to do.. The last one we did....

Hellion/Electric eye
Tyrant
Worth Fighting for
Green Manalishi
Steeler
The Ripper
Rapid Fire
Damn I swear I am forgetting something and I recorded the damned thing!!!
As far as Nostradamus..I wouldnt mind doing Alone. I have taken a deep liking to that song.... [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Vaillant 3.0 from Tuesday, October 07, 2008 3:24:18 PM) | | Vaillant 3.0 wrote: | | WOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's great news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know what songs you guys did in the last album, but I'll ask anyway....can you guys do Starbreaker? And Let us Pray/Call for Priest? And Killing Machine? Do you guys plan to do songs from the Nostradamus album? I know, too many questions, but I'm getting excited over the idea that you guys might make two albums!!!!! | | Deep Freeze wrote: | | Well gang, the time has come! I spoke with MM on the phone this past weekend and we have decided to move forward with the new album. I am planning to fly to NY and do the vocals for about twenty to twenty five Priest songs. Our hope is that we can record enough material for TWO albums and then put them out at different times. We plan to have the same band members so you can expect the same sound. Then again, I do hope to improve on our last endeavor!!!
ANYWAY, we are discussing which songs to record and we would like your participation just as we did last time. We want a wide variety and NOTHING is "off limits", just try to remember my vocal limitations!!! So, let's get posting! Give us your suggestions. The Princess has blessed my trip!!!! I will be in NY in early November or December, depending on air fare. The new album should be ready for release after the New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I`m with you on mic`d cabs, especially with Celestions. Direct ,you miss the interaction of the amp with the speakers unless your right on top of your amp. the crowd misses out as well. There is something to be said about running direct. I have done it in the past with bands but have always wound up mic'ing to get the feel of the celestions, when I had cabs with them. There is something about celestions and a mic that sounds so good and warm. The sound I got running direct seemed too brittle and harsh with no warmth. For recording, I think its great. But you would need good cabinet simulators on processors to acheive a good tone. I tried my old Tube Works head running direct for this recording and it sounded like total shit with a hum and all. I like this ME50. It does a good job. | | guitardude wrote: | | MM
You know, several years ago a friends band was doing a gig and they had a issue with a mic for the guitar and they had no spares,so we ran him direct from his head a vinatge Randall RG 100 thru a 412 with the Randall Jaguar spkrs. decent tone for sure, but by going direct his distortion was so in your face intense,he swore to always go direct from there on out. He and the other guitarist started using those Hughes and Kettner red boxes instead of mics. The other guitarist was using a Peavey Triumph 120 head thru Peavey cabs, but I don`t know what type of spkrs were in those. |

My software has some distortion effects on it. I will try it to see what it sounds like. I dont want to muddy it up though. What I am playing thru is my Boss ME50 as a stand alone direct into the sound card. I actually cut back quite a bit in the Boss because of too much mud! I will check it out and let you know how it come out..... [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by guitardude from Monday, September 22, 2008 12:32:02 PM) | | guitardude wrote: | | MM
That`s some intense distortion!! Have you thought of adding a traditonal overdrive to what you allready have?
Please don`t misunderstand me here,I really like what you have ,but with an old style overdrive focusing on the lower frequenies,it will thicken it up nicely. Giving you something to play off of when you add a bass guitar. | | METAL MELTDOWN wrote: | | I have one that I will, maybe, get on by the end of the week with an even faster tempo that that one! Heres an upgrade to the last recording I posted. I bumped up the tempo but there is an annoying click when you hear the bass drum in spots!! maybe its my computer, I dont know. No bass on either or vocals. Freeze has to write some lyrics for both of these!!!.....

I wanted to let you all know, those who advised me about a year ago to just pick up and go with my heart, I will tell you it worked and thank you so much. My wife and three kids came out to Phoenix, AZ, no job lined up and our lives packed up in a Honda minivan and Corolla. We stayed with my parents until we could got situated. I also have my wife to thank because she was the driving force behind it all.
My status now is that I've had a job for two months and we are all settled in living in Mesa, AZ, so if anyone lives in the area, holla at me. Along with this new chapter in my life, also came this superb album that I can relate to in so many ways. Not only has the music been able to ground me and help me through some stressful moments, it has also allowed me to connect with songs like, Exile, Alone, Peace, Sands of time etc..
CROSS OVER THE MOUNTAINS
AND VALLEYS SO WIDE
I WALK AS I WONDER
WITH HOPE BY MY SIDE
ALL MY FRIENDS ARE FAR AWAY
HOW I MISS MY HOME
WHERE DO I FIND PEACE OF MIND
GUIDE ME AS I ROAM
I CRY FOR YOU
These lyrics say it all. Now that I am here, hopefully I can find out where Rob hangs out, since he lives somewhere in the valley.
If anyone has any info on how their performance was and the set list, please let me know, I would appreciate it. Keep the Faith!

Not that I could play any of it but, you know, perhaps you could spice it up a bit? Certainly a bass could help out here to get a "thicker" sound and also fill in a couple of gaps. Loved the tone of the guitar, btw.
I only mention the above about the chorus because you asked for some opinions. Constructive criticism, if you will. However, overall did I liked it! More power to ya' bro. Wish I had half your talent. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to hear the finished product.

Well, I spent some money on recording gizmos and software. I have a test track that I have sent to Freeze for him to put some words to. I would like your opinion on this tune.
Please keep in mind that this is not a finished track. the solos need to be re-done and they were just one takers to establish where vocals should go. there is no bass on here as well. The drums are FL Studio "Fruty Loops" and not a real drummer. Sounds good though!!
