Who's Alonso? Who's Ferrari?
[TIMBONI] Wednesday, September 30, 2009 1:18:48 PM

Fernando Alonso will drive for Ferrari in 2010 with Kimi Raikkonen leaving the team.

The two-time former World Champion has agreed a three-year deal with the Maranello marque.

He will partner Felipe Massa, currently recovering from serious injury. Giancarlo Fisichella, who recently signed for the team as a stand-in for Massa, will take the role of reserve driver.

That means Raikkonen, World Champion in 2007, is left looking for another team

Alonso set to sign five-year deal with Ferrari  !

Fernando Alonso will sign a five-year contract with Ferrari worth €25 million (£23 million), according to Spanish media.

Media reports claim that Ferrari will make an announcement on Thursday and team boss Stefano Domenicali has all but confirmed the deal saying: "As soon as we are ready we will let you know. We don't want to wait too long."

Speculation is rife that Alonso's departure will lead to Kimi Raikkonen returning to McLaren while BMW driver Robert Kubica is expected partner Romain Grosjean at Renault next year.

Here's the latest   !  !  !

ROME (AP) -- Seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher is making a comeback for Ferrari to replace injured driver Felipe Massa.

Ferrari said Wednesday in a statement that the German had agreed to get back in the cockpit until Massa is fit to return. The next race is the European Grand Prix on Aug. 21-23 in Valencia, Spain.

Not for the first time - and PF1 seriously doubts if it will be for the last time either - Ferrari have denied signing Fernando Alonso.

Earlier this week, Diario AS reported that Fernando Alonso would be heading to Ferrari next season, having signed a five-year contract.

The Spanish daily even went as far as to say that the Scuderia would be confirming the Spaniard on the Friday of the Italian GP weekend and would be including him in their post-season parties.

Ferrari, though, have denied the report.

[TIMBONI] Tuesday, June 30, 2009 10:23:44 AM

Ferrari will reportedly confirm the signing of Fernando Alonso at their home race, the Italian Grand Prix.

Rumours of his pending move to Ferrari have dogged Alonso for the past three years, however, instead of joining the Italian marque he spent the 2007 season at McLaren before returning to Renault.

But his days at Renault are reportedly numbered.

Spanish daily Diario AS is claiming that on the Friday of the Italian Grand Prix, Ferrari will confirm that Alonso will be joining them next season, having signed a five-year contract.

But wait    .      .      .     .   there's more !

McLaren face being hauled before the World Motor Sport Council for the third time in under two years following their deception in the furore surrounding the Australian Grand Prix.

Sporting director Dave Ryan was made the sacrificial lamb by the team as he has been suspended for deliberately misleading race stewards investigating the chaos that unfolded last Sunday.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) -- Defending Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton was disqualified from the Australian Grand Prix on Thursday for giving misleading evidence to race stewards.

The McLaren driver was awarded third place after the season-opening race in Melbourne last weekend when stewards ruled Toyota's Jarno Trulli breached regulations by passing Hamilton during a safety car period.

Trulli was reinstated to his original third-place finish, while Hamilton and McLaren were excluded from the results and receive no points.

Just seven (!!) cars have used KERS in the race!!
Both Brawn GP's, both Ferraris, both Williams
and one BMW (Quick Nick)!!

KERS is a new pursuit system that works for
a max of 6.6 seconds with a power of 80PS!!
It's a electric system that lives from a battery.
After 6.6 seconds the battery is low and needs
energy supply. Every time the pilots useing
their brakes KERS get enough energy back to
work again in the next lap for 6.6 seconds again.

[_strat_] Tuesday, March 10, 2009 2:26:27 AM
IDK... Barichello has been in F1 for... what? 15 years? Maybe even more than that. Same with Fisichella, and Trulli is a veteran too. IDK, maybe one of them gets lucky and finaly wins, or at least comes close to winning the World Cup, but I dont think that will be so. I think that this year will be much like the last one. Hamilton, Alonso, Raikonnen, maybe Massa... They will be the main pretenders. Well, we will see, in any case.

Hats off to Hamilton.  He had a great season and was solid throughout.  I do find it ironic that Ferrari wins the Constructor's Championship and from my point of view they are the ones that cost Massa the Driver's Championship.  Between engine reliability ( or lack of ) and that stupid lighted release system for pit stops I can come up with at least 3 potential victories lost that had nothing to do with Massa himself.

Alonso: If I can help Massa I will

Monday 13th October 2008

Fernando Alonso has vowed to help Felipe Massa beat his former McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton to this year's World title.

Last season Alonso, then driving for McLaren, was the one involved in a title battle with Hamilton, which led to a great deal of rivalry and animosity within the team and Alonso's subsequent departure after just one year.

This year, though, it's Massa whose locked in the title race with Hamilton, with Alonso vowing to do all he can to help the Ferrari driver beat his former team-mate.

"Yes, no doubt, if I can help, I will help Massa," Alonso told AS newspaper.

MARANELLO, Italy (AP) -- Formula One's 10 teams created an association Tuesday to safeguard their interests in response to rule changes proposed by motor sports' governing body.

Ferrari said in a statement that the meeting at its headquarters had produced a unanimous decision to establish a new "Formula 1 Teams Association" to work with the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) "to agree upon regulations and commercial conditions which will provide a framework for a strong and dynamic sport."

[TIMBONI] Friday, July 25, 2008 9:30:04 PM
Oh, and let me add this  .  .  .  maybe if they raced like men and stopped all this etiquette bullshit, they might actually get the American following that they used to have and have been trying to regain for years.  I have to admit that I'm a huge fan of the lack of traction control.  I wish they would get rid of the tire rule to use both compounds and just let them use the tire that works best for them.  I'd also like to see "real" qualifying.  Nobody watches qualifying live in any form of racing.  Why does Bernie think his stands should be full for it ?  I like the knock out format, but kill the "race fuel load" rule in the last round.
[TIMBONI] Friday, July 25, 2008 9:16:44 PM
I say let them cry.  Nobody passed Schumi like that unless they earned it or his car was injured and he was hanging on for points.  A couple of "fouls" and the field would think twice about charging up on him.  Look at Coulthard, Barichello or Trulli.  They fight hard, but they don't "foul".  They just take everything they can until the blue flag is practically thrown into the cockpit.

sadly that killer instinct  that you say is punished by the stewards these days its a chance for the hard done by to cry foul. i miss the days when it was a real fight. to a certain extent massa didnt have the pace to fight lewis anyway , so risk a shunt and no points. in my veiw massa did the smart move and took what was realy there to grab.kimi fell asleep.
[TIMBONI] Friday, July 25, 2008 7:36:30 PM
That's where my heart is, but Hamilton has been so dominant the past two races that it's hard to stay positive.  I'd like to see a little more "killer instinct" from Massa too.  He practically pulled over and let Hamilton pass.

First  .  .  . going well thanks.  Sounds like things are great for you right now.  Second  .  .  .  I really hope you are wrong about Ferrari, but I think you are right.  The car seems to have plenty of speed since, even having a horrible finish, Kimi was super fast in the speed trap.  I think they don't have the handling down.

Hungary will again favour Mclaren, but from then on I will play "NOSTRADAMUS " and predict Ferrari will come back.
Third....Got to work for Judas Preist yesterday here in Vancouver Canada. SHIT PILES OF FUN!!!! Worked with the stage mgr on the whole thing, stage, and backline.
Backline is term for band gear , I am a drummer for as long as I could walk so setting up Scott Travis's drum kit was a thrill for me. If there is any stepping up to be done it will be done by Massa.  As usual, the "number two" Ferrari driver is showing he's nobody's bitch.  Given the right car, almost any of these guys could kick ass.  Given a Ferrari, I think Massa is putting Kimi on notice.  He's the Ferrari numero uno.  Unfortunately, there is more to the story that involves one of my most hated drivers on the planet.  The arrogant gun for hire Fernando Alonso.  Rumor has it, that if Kimi were to retire, Alonso would go to Ferrari.  Why would they want him ?  God forbid the Ferrari fall behind a Force India.  Alonso would probably jump ship to them the very next year.  I hope it's not true.  I'd love to see Trulli in that role.

Schumi will allways be the king.I miss him alot.Hamilton's fate lay with Mclaren's ability to find more time in the car coz its not fast enough to beat Ferrari at the moment. His talent is there , that is for shure. As for BMW they are in the same boat , the car and kubica are good , but not enough yet.No matter how you look at it this year has bein a good fight and will continue to be. thanx for the chat , see you again at the races........cheers

I certainly hope lady luck will befriend Massa, but we can't forget about Hamilton.  He's shown himself to be extremely talented, but even more emotional than Trulli which breeds mistakes.  That's what made Schumi so great.  He was able to become a machine in the cockpit.  It wasn't until the end when emotions got into the cockpit with him that he decided to retire.

[TIMBONI] Friday, June 27, 2008 8:31:49 PM

I would love for Massa to win the Championship.  He's a great driver, a great personality ( not enough of those in F1 ) and I think he's somewhat offended by being second to Raikonnen after doing his time behind Schumacher.  Personally, I'd like to see Massa in first seat and Trulli in second at Ferrari.  I believe that Trulli can be a very irratic and emotional driver, but has never really had the gear under him to show his true potential.  Even during his time at Renault, it was very obvious he was second as constrained by team orders.

HAMILTON HAS GOT TO PENALIZED.    AN ALTERNATING FLASHING RED LIGHT AS BLANTANT AS A RAILROAD CROSSING AND TWO CARS STOPPED AHEAD OF YOU, WHAT A MORON !

I like it the way it is:)

Should be interesting, with Raikonnen so close, and Hamilton back on the top of the championship.
