[the highway terror] Monday, December 27, 2010 11:37:23 PM
STARZ  were very popular back in the late 70's
albums like Violation and Attention Shoppers sold pretty good
they had a live set called Coliseum Rock that was popular too
they were managed by Bill Aucoin who handled KISS back in the day
STARZ got back together again a couple of years ago for some reunion shows you can check them out on youtube

they are known as hair metal?    is that a new one?
[flashrockinman] Monday, December 28, 2009 7:12:35 AM
dam, i didn't know what to call that?  . what about the band  Y&T ?   what do you that about that band?
[Craig Wagenhoffer] Saturday, December 19, 2009 6:39:54 AM
Here's an excerpt of one of Nitro's videos. Completely over the top:

This stuff makes me cringe.
[Craig Wagenhoffer] Saturday, December 19, 2009 6:31:46 AM
That band Tigertailz is an embarassment. They play pop songs with a hard edge. They remind me of Nitro. Seduce looks like a glam band, but they actually play very decent heavy/speed metal. Check out that song I posted in my previous message. It doesn't sound like glam at all.

The most over the top glam metal band are actually a band from Wales called Tygertailz. Check them out on  youtube, they're a crackup. Their cd was called Berzerk I think.

the band  STARZ ever heard of this glam band?  i had one album, and to tell you the truth, they were below avg.  as far as michigan, my brother lives near pontiac
[guidogodoy] Thursday, December 03, 2009 2:51:11 AM
HAAA!!! I've seen Seduce a number of times at the local Metal club in Detroit. Harpo's....right down the street.
Not the greatest but far from the worst.

Seduce from Detroit. I recently discovered this obscure 1980's band. This is the heaviest glam metal I've ever heard. This stuff is heavy and fast. Awesome!

hey, it's a fiat, you have to expect electrical problems.  on the other hand, i installed a jvc disc player and some klipsh speakers.  i got the box set, and i rock totally.  i mix in the jerky boys CD once in a while.   funnier than hell.
[hellrider 31038] Saturday, November 07, 2009 7:10:54 PM
yeah flashrockinman the problem you got with the car running is the ignition coil has constant power going to it.when the car turns off and you put that 4 way flasher back in the coil is getting power.yeah pick up one of those pen looking electical testers i was telling you about before.maybe you can splice a wire posibly from the alternator or where ever that lights up the tester as soon as you turn the key half way and turns off when the ignition is off.or you can run a switch inside the car using the exsisting wire.oh another thing dont let that timing belt snap or engine will blow and if you replace the belt yourself some time make sure to  properly alined ALL the pulley including that  pulley under the intake manifold .i am telling you this from experience.lol.i did not aline that pulley under the intake manifold properly i did not think it mattered started up the car hear all this noise and then i blew a hole out the side of my dads engine block .lol.good thing we had a extra engine out of a 80 fiat brava.lol

how is the oil is it brown or grey and does it smoke.if so possible head gasket leak.sound to me like someone must have done there own wirering job on it.get a electrical tester the one that looks kind of like a pen with a light at the top and has a wire with a alegator clip on the end.attach the allagator clip to a good ground engine or inside the engine compartment and touch the conection on the coil with it with the key on and then key off.if light stays on witch it sound like it will maybe run a wire in the car for a switch.i remember we had some sort of problem with the ignition switch once and we wired it up so the car would not start with the ignition switch you had to turn the ignition on and we wired up a push button starter switch inside the car so just push the button and it starts.we wired up a swich inside the car for the fan to.to be able to turn the fan on and off when ever needed .

ah yes, the fiat. so far so good. it seems to use alittle oil every 500 miles. and antifreeze.  it doesn't leak it, it must be a small leak when it's hot and sprays a fine mist.  also, sometimes when you turn the key to off, and pull it out. the car still runs.  it's getting power somehow to the ignition though the alternator.  i even disconnected the battery. and it still runs with no key.  now here's the kicker.  if i disconnect the four way flasher, it turns off.  you gotta love a fiat.
[hellrider 31038] Thursday, October 29, 2009 11:11:34 PM
hey flashrockinman fiat spyder awesome man.my dad had a 79 and a 74 awesome cars man.i have a lot of experience fixing them exspecially mechanical so if you ever have any problem with it let me know i should be able to help you out.hey not to scare you but on my dads 79 the front frame broke while he was driving due to metal fatique so if posible you might want to get it checked out by a professional.the tire went sideways .definatly not something you want happening on the highway

Darth_Painkiller_0870 !!! Thanks man,its great to hear from you again my friend!   I think that this attitude belongs with metal to the fullest. All metal bands should have an imgage in the ball park of Judas Priest to Saxon to old Metallica somewhere in there, this helps the metal music in so many ways. Not that they have to wear this image back stage after a show,or at home or in the studio of course not but when in CD booklets,in magazine photos, band promo pictures,on stage...ect..where ever the "band" is seen then yes, they should be supporting this image, otherwise somehow the "music" suffers, don't ask me how but it does.

Iron miden does not really wear spikes and leather but they used to wear this image and it is implanted in thier minds.  Sometimes they still have a little denim & leather though.  But for up starting bands that want to play "metal" music,I believe that they must have a traditional "metal image".  Kids like this site's own "Metal Maniac"......"Justin Swift"(Where the hell are you! lol!) understand loud and clear the importance of this philosophy. Anyone who says that image is not important when it comes to "metal" music is delusional and knows absolutely nothing about metal music.

... some days I wish I could turn down my mind's eye!  Getting a visual.  I bear witness that you look really handsome in a suit, Freeze   Throw in the element of appearing onstage in a 'Priest tribute band, hm?!  I s'pose you could throw on a leather tie, tuck gaunlets up your sleeve, and wear a belt with a skull buckle!    I think I've discovered what I wanna be when I grow up ; ) Back to image consulting - This has been a productive visit!!!

Cheers ... all in good fun, Freeze, all in good fun

Its funny that there is so much talk about attitude and look. I agree, to a point. I mean, I would not like to see a "Metal" band that goes on stage wearing pajamas but, I really think the vocal style means the most. Old school, to ME, is about the ability to sing with a rock and roll edge yet hold the notes and stay in key. The growling and screaming stuff of today's "metal" just does nothing for me at all.

Guys like Rob, Bruce Dickinson and even Ozzy actually have to know how to sing. There are many, many more but I think that is what sets them apart from what passes as Metal now. I have often wondered what kind of reaction I would get if I went on stage in a  suit and did Priest tunes..HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

J.D.!  Great to see you back!

I have to chime in and agree with y'all on this.  I think metal is all about "attitude".  To me, that attitude should include denim & leather.  Why?  Because it's different from the mainstream, and last I checked, Metal wasn't exactly mainstream.  I don't particularly mind when bands come on stage in jeans, though it takes away from the "attitude" and stage presence a band should give off when they play live.

Hey thats cool dude. And yes long hair is also the metal trademark, but to those who have no hair as myself (lol) can still support it's image when needed! Rob Halford is the perfect example!
I don't think that it's important for fans to dress metal 24 hours a day 7 days a week but when going to a metal show it should be denim & leather!!

You know I gotta chime in here, since it's the "real" JD and all - lol  (promise, I won't throw daisies atcha)

Agreed with the whole denim & leather bit.  A show is a show, and metal is about attitude.

BUT, as I became more about the metal attitude, I adopted my own style ... Nothing like walking into a throng of metalheads, wearing denim, leather, and lace or velvet to femme it up

I'm glad you said "most metaheads" I know quite a few people who get around dressed in denim and leather. I have my own Denim Vest w/patches (wish i could afford a good leather jacket ) and i wear it out, fitted jeans and band shirts are a must. And of course the spiked / studded wrist bands/ belts. I grew up around people who wore this stuff as well, so it's natural to me.
One thing i will say.... I want to see more metalheads with long hair!!!

USURPER       2005       United States

Here is an image from an "old school period" that most modern metal heads that are young and starting new bands have forgotten these days.
This gives them an idea of the right image to uphold when starting a "METAL BAND".   Hats, baggy pants,shorts..ect....is just plain right out what is known as "Tunnel Hat".
I am 100% against the "Tunnel Hat" image of so-called "metal bands" if thats what they call themselves. Dress what ever the hell they want outside of the "band"...but when
onstage,in magazine photos,in CD booklets....where ever the band is promoted..then yes they should have a metal image, just like Judas Priest  does. This is very important for metal.

I wish I could go to as many shows nowadays as I did back in the day...but it seemed there was a great show every week back then, unlike now where there's only a few really 'must see' a year (if that)...I still get jittery when my ticket gets scanned and looking for my seat, the anticipation of what's about to happen, makes me feel like a 16 yr. old again...the only thing different today is that I am better 'prepared' for a show...

Buying beer at an event, or Disney world or any such place that cost and arm and a leg to go to these days, makes me feel like this:

I go to the store, purchase my favorite beer for 7, 8 bucks. The clerk puts it in one of those see through flimsy plastic bags and on my way to the car the "bag" completely busts and all my favorite beer bottles break EXCEPT ONE! And that is the feeling I have each time I have to pay that much money for ONE beer. LOL

there was always a pre-game before any concert.  passing a bottle of wine, that's before we got there. than the six-packs.............ahhhh   and when you got in your seat the smell of herb................dam i'm hungry.  since we were poor college students, we'd sneak in a fifth of cherry brandy and mix it with coke.  (cola)  we couldn't afford the 5 dollar plastic draft.  but we always got a shirt.......................

Ahhh.... Bev.... the good ole days?:) I was quite the little groupie back in the day...at times.... too young to be hanging around hotel lobbys waitiing for bands to walk in...Only one sticky situation, but otherwise, I always had things pretty much under control. I actually partied with Priest in 1983 as a teen, but I doubt they remember ANYTHING from that time!!! Geez.... a couple of wild Wisconsin evenings that involved a drive out into the country to make a "purchase" with one band member who shall remain anonymous and my Priest roadie "date". There was also golfing involved and beers at the "Shuffle Inn". It will forever be etched into my memory as the time that I learned that Rob was NOT into the ladies!!!!  So, are we all older and wiser now? Any other oldtimes wanna share any wild tales?

[Bev] Monday, February 16, 2009 3:45:30 PM
LOL ... I s'pose it looks that way, huh, flash?!  I usually happened to be in the right place at the right time (by advantage of career), or I knew the right people.  I also auditioned for a couple of acts, was invited onstage (local clubs) as a guest, was close with local DJ(s) and club owners.  I partied sometimes with local acts, a couple of times with big names (usually I was too shy to even get involved on that level.  The stories some of the girls used to tell alone scare the daylights out of me ... )  Did I follow acts from town to town, hang-out backstage or in the audience waiting to be singled out by crew, etc.  No.

Excellent memory! Good times. I once dated a double kick drummer myself and what he lacked in overall, what I would call hot looks,
he more than made up for in vitallity and just great fun to be around. Plus he had a killer body! DM, if you ever read this board, Susan
still thinks about ya! LOL Tell Vilesilenser I said hello.

LOL  He was a demon on the drums ... I remember him throwing sticks out into the audience, breaking down a portion of his kit, and doing a solo w/ hands.  But gentle as a kitten beyond the stage.  Cool cat.  Glen Toma.  This band was out of Colorado, at the time.

I was in art school in the early eighties and did a couple logos for a couple local to area bands,
but while they were good the middle of VA is not a place to hope to get discovered, although, I did have a good enough rock
club to haul in the recently fallen stars live Joan Jett, Zebra, etc..... stuff of the like I dont even remember the names of the bands.
