HB,
I'm not sure of the "proper" way to do it, I just find it funny that a few guys were probably working on that, and it got mispelled. Takes time to place the stencils, I would think. So, maybe the "leader" of the crew was an ass, and all the other guys knew he spelled it wrong, and just sat back and snickered amidst themselves. lol

Bud:
Yes, Bud I did spell  lessons wrong, HA!! I spell alot wrong without proof reading. I'm still the only dyslexic transcriptionist I know. LMAO!  Couldn't make it up if I tried! lol

In front of a school, you'd think someone would have caught that.((trying to) lol)
Hey! No offense, but I just noticed how you spelled lessons (leasons).
I guess we all do it. (no, not like on the discovery channel)

Aside from the minor spelling error, should it not stay on one side of the road?  the guy coming is leaving the shcool zone probably cant read it, and the people coming probably cant see it all.

Huh,well they both do something for me,its just that as i've said Defenders has 3 songs on it that don't do it for me while SFV has 2 songs that are under par so thats why I take SFV over Defenders but I sure as hell can see why people take Defenders over SFV,its a very difficult choice for me. I don't think that Defenders has one song that beats The Hellion/Electic Eye,that song alone makes SFV better lol! No worries, nobody can win this thread lol!

Defenders eh...haha yeah that album smokes. I Just don't like Rock Hard Ride Free,Eat Me Alive and Night Comes Down....never have, while Screaming For Vengeance the only 2 songs I don't like are Take These Chains and Fever. Yeah for you Defenders smokes SFV but for me SFV beats Defenders by a nose hair, its very close as both are excellent albums for sure. Now this I can see fans grabbing at both albums.

Thats how I feel about  "Night Comes Down"  off  Defenders Of The Faith but it didn't "ruin" the entire album for me. The Hellion/Electric Eye,Riding On The wind,Bloodstone,Pain And Pleasure,Screaming For Vengeance,You've Got Another Thing Comin',Devil's Child makes up 8 songs an album's worth of material that beats Defenders in my opinion however it is very close.

I prefer DOF to SFV, it's close but I prefer Defenders. Take these Chains ruins SFV, I actually like Fever. Not a bad song on DOF at least not in my opinion. AOR is great also, Revolution is a track I can sometimes get into. The rest of AOR is killer, to me again. Painkiller is another great album, British Steel and Stained Class also. Each with thier own sound and personalities. I think Sin after Sin is one of the most influental metal albums of all time, but some people do not agree with me that is the way it is. I love Freewheel Burning (I HATE THE VIDEO), some of you do not. If everyone agreed the board would suck. That is the way it is.

The best song on this album is the sentinal for me .
[J.D. DIAMOND] Monday, August 09, 2010 1:37:02 PM
The Freewheel Burning Video may not be thier best I agree but it beats the hell out of the Turbo Lover video by far haha! The song "Freewheel Burning" to me is a classic,it never bothered me at all and I still like the track, its "Rock Hard Ride Free,Eat Me Alive,Night Comes Down"...those 3 songs are "weak" and this is why I rate Angel Of Retribution over Defenders Of The Faith.

I'd take Revolution,Worth Fighting For and Angel over Rock Hard Ride Free,Eat Me Alive and Night Comes Down anyday.  Screaming For Vengeance is better as the only weak links on that album are Take These Chains and Fever.

DOTF songs Live. KICK ASS!
[ron h] Monday, August 09, 2010 4:04:36 AM

I do like DOTF, just not as much as most.  Also, when the songs are played live they truly kick ass!!  My not caring much for the album is really just that, the album itself (cover / production), but when they're on stage they even make the songs off Turbo rock.

[spapad] Sunday, August 08, 2010 3:55:08 PM
Never played Missile Command. Played lots of driving games, and way too much Ms. Pacman, but never that one. Still wouldn't change my mind.

Maybe if they had not scared me for life with the video, I could enjoy the song, but the vid is just plain awful! All I think about when I hear that song is how much I can't stand that Vid! I find "Don't Go" with all its strangeness a better video than Freewheel Burning.

The production isn't the best  on Defenders but the songs are great, Freewheel Burning is  classic JP  along with most of the other tracks..'Love Bites', 'Some Heads...' 'Jawbreaker' 'Night Comes Down' and 'Rock Hard Ride Free'. So although its not my favourite Priest album its def up there.
If the next JP album (if there is going to be be one) is as strong as Defenders then i would be well happy.

Thank you Spa for having the testicular fortitude to post what I couldn't, I don't like Freewheel Burning at all either!!  Some Heads are Gonna Roll, Heavy Duty, the anthem DOTF, Jawbreaker (we all know what that word means) they all do absolutely nothing for me.  I'm sorry folks, and this is just my personnal opinion, but DOTF took a step backwards from SFV, the start of a backwards spiral they didn't recover from until Painkiller.  That, or I ahem grew up lol

I hate that song, and I hate the video.   I'll put anything on SFV against Freewheel burning and it will sound better to  me.  I just hate that song. Why in the Hell did they make that a video? Love bites was much better.

heck makes eme wish for more poison.  HA!

I once heard all the whole SFV album on the radio, our local rock station used to play a whole album at midnight.  but other than that, the once a month obligatory priest on the radio is all you get here.  confined to the base three songs.

probably why I dont listen.

LOL, cock rock. SFV kicks arse, that album is never far away from my CD player in my car lol. At the moment though DOTF rules the roost, I love the dark overtones of the album as a whole. The Sentinel is awesome because the most violent and dark part of the song is also the slowest musically, it's very cool. I love both albums but agree that SFV is more accessible.

All of them, the album as a whole, SFV is way more upbeat and the songs a bit more accessible I think. DOTF is quite a menacing kind of album for want of a better word, Freewheel Burning, Jawbreaker, Rock Hard Ride Free, Love Bites, Some Heads Are Gonna Roll plus the ones you mentioned are just darker songs than those on SFV. SFV, with the exception of the title track and Bloodstone is the closest thing Priest have to cock rock apart from Turbo.

I might be a victim of living in the Chicago area which, unbelieveabley does not have a Metal radio staion (a few have come and gone quickly over the years), but the only song I've ever heard on the radio here off the SFV album is YGOTC.  Off DOTF, I've heard Freewheel Burning, Rock Hard Ride Free and Love Bites.  Maybe SFV sounds more commercial to you, but with the exception of the above mentioned song DOTF has experienced much more radio play than SFV.  I only have about 34 years of listening experience here, but it's a sad reality of no real Metal airplay in this area.  Priest actually, even today, gets more airplay off the British Steel album than any other in this area.  Green Manalishi is another staple on the LOOP (local rock sta.) more airplay than most.

Not one song off the first side of SFV gets airplay...period!  Fever and Devil's Child would be the only other candidates and it just doesn't happen.

Defender's, IMO, is way more commercial.  I really don't see where DOTF is a darker album.  What songs are you referring to and please don't say The Sentinel, Eat Me Alive or Heavy Duty.

We all have our opinions, but using words like heavier and darker, I just don't see it.

I'm not sure how you can consider DOTF the twin to SFV. I hear this a lot and disagree with it totally. Its like the standard opinion. No what I'm sayin? Defenders is total heavy metal while SFV has the pop sounding YGAC, Feaver, Take these chains, ect. Whatever. Don't get me wrong, I love SFV, just not as heavy as Defenders.    [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by spapad from Sunday, July 25, 2010 6:43:57 PM)

THe Production on "Screaming " was mind blowing. The record was a fine representation of Heavy Guitar Music. Any music fan Loved the Guitar sounds of "screaming. DOTF let me down at first. I thought the guitar sound was not as good. To much Low end. IMO. It took i little time but i love the power of the songs. I thought the Riffage was progressively superior to "Screaming". I love th Lyrics of Defenders. Live Defenders songs are Unstoppable.
Sworn To avenge.

I've thought the same thing... Defenders flows with no hesitation and keeps chuggin' on heavier and heavier. Screaming started strong and ended strong, but the middle was kind of missing something, the something that Defenders kept and should have been bigger than Screaming.

To me Defenders has always been better than Screaming, and also two different albums. The songs off of Defenders were much darker and heavier than what was on Screaming.Screaming to me had a lot of filler material, where every song on Defenders are kick ass. Both are excellent, but I prefer Defenders of the Faith.
[Mr. Dave Genocide] Sunday, July 25, 2010 9:41:07 PM
I agree. Turbo  and Ram It Down were very disappointing, esp. Ram It Down.  The one thing that sent it into a nosedive was the use of a drum machine. I've always wondered how it would've turned out with Scott Travis on drum duty! I'm sure everyone agree's that Painkiller sent them back on the right path.

I consider DOTF as the twin of Vengance, but not as good. It was good but not as good as Vengance.  I also agree with you that until pankiller came  out, they did nothting of note during that time. I like about 2 songs on turbo and about two on Ram it Dowm. Sorry, fans, just how I feel.  I was truely dissoulitioned with Ram it Down. Hurt my Metal heart.  It was OK, but not what I had come to expect.

Budred, don't get me wrong by my expressed disappointment as I do consider DOTF to be a good release.  The songs Rock Hard Ride Free, The Sentinel,  Love Bites and Eat Me Alive are good songs that I really enjoy, it's the rest of them that leave me wanting.  That, coupled with the album cover along with following such a great album in SFV, I expected something completely mind blowing.  Unfortunately for me, just the opposite happend.  Many of Priests' fans got hooked on them with the DOTF release, and I can certainly understand why.  I had been a fan of theirs for a number of years by that time and just felt let down (a lot like I was with Point of Entry).

I'm sure I'll get slammed for this but I was sort of disappointed with DOF.  The cover looked like Lego's (so UNmetal) and the music didn't evolve to a higher level from SFV and the lyrics took a step back from my age group.  It was at that point that I started to realize that the band wasn't going to mature with me (later verified by the Turbo release).

Not that I don't like DOF, but to me it was the first step towards a decline that they didn't really recover from until Painkiller.

[Mr. Dave Genocide] Friday, July 23, 2010 10:17:32 AM
'Defenders' definitely get's overlooked, sadly. And I can't understand why! From the fast-paced Freewheel Burning all the way thru the anthem title-track, it's completely solid! If anything it's practically better than 'Screaming', and I know a lot of you out there agree.  I completely adore this album, def. one of their Top albums ever.

Rising from darkness where hell hath no mercy and the screams of vengeance echo on forever,
only those who keep the faith shall escape the wrath of the metallian... Defenders of the Faith.

Judas Priest is the best heavy metal band ever! I just love their music so much.

With this video that I saw in 1985, I made myself a fan of Judas Priest forever.

Thanks, Life

Well, I think all of Priest's albums are truly awesome. But Defenders of the Faith is the greatest.

This album, 1984 Defenders of the Faith.. Is simply the greatest heavy metal album of all time! It's so powerful.
Freewheel Burning kicks some serious ass. Jawbreaker is a JAWBREAKER. Rock Hard Ride Free is mindblowing.
The Sentinel is a facemelter. Love Bites is love at first note. Eat Me Alive eats you alive. Some Heads Are Gonna Roll is truly AWESOME.
Night Comes Down is so beautiful. Heavy Duty/Defenders of the faith is heavier than heaviest.

I just had to write this. Judas Priest forever!
