Sorry, I had to delete that one. I was revealing a little too much. I'll just say thanks for the temptation to relive
some youthful experimentation.

Man, I have no idea what this has to do with "Farewell Priest" but I just tried it and.....arererahadfsasf...seizure! LOL!!!

Wasn't this what the little blond quaalude kid was watching with his brother on tv in the movie "Over the Edge?"
Come on, 1980 or so? Someone must remeber this movie and the reference.

Um. I was listening to Priest when I watched the film. <=There, back on track.

When I first read that they were calling it the 'Epitaph' tour I admit I actually smiled. Mostly because Epitaph is a great song by Priest and only Priest fans would "get it."  I feel out of sorts that they're hanging it up but I also feel satisfied because no one can take away they're influence on metal music.

I would love to see any of the following songs performed live, I've chosen ones that they rarely or never play:

Cheater
One for the Road
Never Satisfied
Let us Prey/ Call for the Priest
Starbreaker
White Heat Red Hot
Stained Class (sounded awesome on Halford's Live Insurrection)
Delivering the Goods
Killing Machine
Burning up
Solar Angels
Fever
Bloodstone
Some Heads are Gonna Roll
When the Night Comes Down
Heavy Duty/ Defenders of the Faith
Locked In
Out in the Cold
Reckless (the Turbo ones are good songs no matter what anyone says)
Ram it Down
Hard as Iron
Love you to Death
Blood red Skies
Leather Rebel
One shot at Glory
Bullet Train
Bloodstained
Subterfuge
Cyberface
Metal Messiah
Demonizer
Loch-ness (I love it)
Persecution
Alone
Nostradamus

I would obviously love to see the classics but if they worked any of these into their set, I would be very happy indeed.

hey all, haven't posted for a long time. Interesting to hear what you're all saying. I'm still loving the live cd from the British steel rerelease [ only weak performance Freewheel Burning]. Its just the best, gives me goosebumps every time. If that were the last thing they ever did , then thats sweet with me. However, not being a regular web browser, but just an occasional Priest/Metal watcher, I thought I might pass on what I had noted and what I predict.
Rob [ whose new cd I bought myself for Xmas today] has said several times recently that he and Ken and Glenn would get together over Xmas to decide what they were doing, He even said they might do a Painkiller tour Or new material. KK's website just yesterday [from a Novemebr post] talks about getting together again for yet another tour next year, no mention of it being the last.
So, methinks either Glenn or Ian has called it quits on the live front, probably the latter [ Satan bless him]. I only think this because although Glenn is I think the oldest , he looks the youngest of the older 4 and treats Priest like his baby. Good on them. One last big tour to bring in some dough for retirement [ I will happily give to this worthy cause ]. If it is the total end, I would be surprised. I suspect there will be one more studio album [ Epitaph ; anyone ?] as they have 6 months before the tour even starts, and it may run up to anywhere from 18months to 2 years. [ ref AC DC Black Ice and also Rob's comments it will run well into 2012]. They may even do further studio albums .So don't panic, enjoy. Try and see them, feel enriched by them as I do daily, and celebrate them. They have heaps left to give, remember the acoustic stuff that never came out on the Retribution tour ? There will be live DVDs/blu-rays , cds , re releases, documentary's - hell maybe even a movie. I will always be grateful I got to see them once [ and the mortgage it gave me !].
Would love to see a Priest/Motorhead/Slayer/Mastadon type arena/festival bill in Australasia early 2012.

Great picks Jeanine, except I would put All Fired Up in place of Hot Rockin'.  Also, I'd love to hear United or Take On The World.  Something other than the same ones we've heard live already.

I must also add, I would absolutely love to hear ANYTHING new from the guys.
[Jeanine] Saturday, December 18, 2010 12:48:12 AM

This list is kind of long but I would love it if they played ANY of the following (my favorite tracks including something from almost every album):

ROCKA ROLLA
DIAMOND & RUST
VICTIM OF CHANGES
EPITAPH
SINNER
DISSADENT AGRESSOR
STAINED CLASS
BEYOND THE REALMS OF DEATH
HEROES END
DELIVERING THE GOODS
HELL BENT FOR LEATHER
BURNING UP
BEFORE THE DAWN
RAPID FIRE
HOT ROCKIN'
HEADING OUT TO THE HIGHWAY
RIDING ON THE WIND
FEVER
FREEWHEEL BURNING

EAT ME ALIVE
TURBO LOVER
BLOOD RED SKIES
PAINKILLER
TOUCH OF EVIL
HELLRIDER
DEMONIZER
WORTH FIGHTING FOR
ANGEL
REVELATIONS
PERSECUTION
I woud think METAL GODS would be appropriate to close

All of these songs really rock or they are just plain beautiful. I think I would cry if they played "Here Come the Tears" which is a big favorite.

I know we can count on those songs being there because for many people that will go, that is about all they know. I guess I can deal with those, as long as the other hour and a half - and I do mean that I want a full 2 hour show this time around, has the songs that J.D. listed. Great list J.D., both of them!! God I'd love to hear Starbreaker live!! I'd also love to hear Blood Red Skies, Delivering the Goods, Cheater, Tyrant, Genocide, Exciter, Stained Class, Killing Machine, Hard as Iron, All Guns Blazing and I know they've done it recently but Devil's Child because it's one of my all time favorite tracks.

I agree, the tour should be the Songs We've Never Done tour!! THAT would kick ass!

Yeah Head Banger and Painkiller wouldn't  a set list like that kick balls or what? Ha ha nice try at the failed attempt to dog my set list Brian, eat your heart out as Dio says haha!!
Eulogy is an excellent Judas Priest classic track and its only a little over 2 minutes long, perfect haunting Sad Wings Of Destiny styled song.

Or if they would release a brand new album that was kick ass:

Brand new traditional quality heavy metal track
Winter
Tyrant
Genocide
Brand new metal track
Call For The Priest intro
Raw Deal
White Heat Red Hot
Brand new metal track
Running Wild
Grinder
Turning Circles
Screaming For Vengeance
Brand new metal track
Jawbreaker
Heavy Metal
Night Crawler
Demonizer
Brand new speed metal track!

The only albums that I didn't include were Turbo,Jugulator,Demolition and Nostradamus. Something like this would be totally awsome.... we could only wish.

Exactly.  What we needed was an album like Angel Of Retribution with other tracks either never before heard or just haven't heard in a long time. Imagine a set list in 2005 like this:

Judas Rising
Deep Freeze (K.K. solo intro)
Cheater
Island Of Domination
Deceiver
Deal With The Devil
Starbreaker
Invader
Hero's End
Demonizer
Killing Machine
Steeler
Wheels Of Fire
Solar Angels
Pain And Pleasure
Eulegy
Heavy Duty
Leather Rebel
Hellrider

That would be more interesting than the same ole' songs.

I can tell you right now what were gonna hear....

Breaking the Law
Living after Midnight
YGATC
Diamonds and rust
VOC........

In other words the same tired old tunes they have been doing each and every tour since they recorded the damned things!!   What I want to hear is something they either havent done in forever or never did live.  I'd love to hear Never Satisfied or Blood Red Skies Tyrant, Stained Class, Genocide.   They could do a NEVER DONE IT BEFORE tour!  Anything other than the aforementioned.  I probably will not go if its the same ole same ole.  The thing that has really turned me off to seeing them live is the very thing I mention here.  How many more times are they going to play Breaking the Law!!!  I guess ONE now...

HB, 4 hours would be kick ass!! BRING IT ON! But I'm realistic, so I'll hope for 2 hours with all their classic cuts, songs from every album and ones that I was not old enough to go to show and see live. I just really hope that their management makes this a celebration and looks at what other bands are doing out on the road. Look at OzzTV, that's a fantastic idea! Queensryche does a raffle for the fan club and you can win meet and greets, which is a party with all the guys milling around - not a 2 minute red carpet photo op, or you can also win the opportunity to be at their soundcheck. How COOL would that be? I've also heard of bands recording every show and you can buy that shows audio recording. There are SO MANY very cool things that they could do.

With the exception of the people on this noticeboard, I tend to think the majority of fans would rather not have the band plugging a new album on their final tour. I personally couldn't care less if they ever came out with another album. They have enough great material out there for me to enjoy for the rest of my life.
[MetalPixie] Thursday, December 16, 2010 12:51:21 PM
HeadBanger, I agree totally.
THIS is the place where details and explanations should be found ... not in one-member interviews on his solo tour or in snippets from other on-line heavy metal music news sources.

Do the guys "owe" us an explanation?  No.
Not anymore than Guido "owes" an explanation as to why he wears the shoes he wears.
(Sorry - Guido - had to pick on you a little bit).

Using the guise of a "big" announcement in December was pretty crummy though.

I don't fault the guys for wanting to retire ... I cannot imagine how hard it is to leave your families for months/years at a time ... BUT there was a better way to do it.  I imagine this is how it felt to get Rob's "fax" when he wanted to pursue his solo career (again ... that's the story of how he left - I'm not putting any real credence into it).

Nobody's self-sites are saying much either (obviously).

Unfortunately, I remember the JP site when Ripper was in the band ... and there was no love for Ms Andrews then either.  Heck - I don't even SEE any of those folks on this noticeboard...unless, of course, you're using aliases now.

Sad.  Still deeply saddened.

I joke about why my cover band broke up ("creative differences" ... I know, in a freakin' cover band?!) - but I wonder if there is some thread of that throughout the albums many of you gripe about.  You've got a writing team solidly built of 3 people - with different perspectives, interests, agendas (not meant in a bad way) and personalities.  Could that be why "we" aren't getting the exact music "we" think "we" want?  Do we really know how much input Ian and Scott have on the new songs?  How about the in-studio producers/engineers?  I love most of the stuff Rob has done on his own ... and Glenn too.  And I love the RacerX stuff Scott's done.  But not EVERY song is my favorite ... we've all just got different tastes.  I don't know - just a rambling.

Grieving.  We're all just grieving ...
[Head banger] Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:33:21 AM
At the end of the day we can only hope to see the boys again, pray for an album or 2 too apear magicly.  they have the right to retire, we have the right to wish they never did.  we can also express opinions on their past works, and the way their publicity team handled this.  if the thoughts on this website, with a few hundred at most fans posting is much of an influence, I am amazed.  these outstanding musicians have been plying their craft for decades, seeing the audience responce, which at any show outnumbers the members of the website would make me want to continue.  but I cant put myself in their shoes, dont know the cause, and probably we will never know.  its a shame though.

This is the same quote that I've seen in a few places. If this is really official, then why isn't it on their OFFICIAL website? You know, the place fans go to find out info??? Seems like everyone has a gag order on them and Rob is left hanging out to dry on this......

It would seem that touring a "farewell" tour with a brand new studio album that would be the band's last would be better marketing than touring a farewell tour of greatest hits(including some of  the 3 year old Nostradamus album) without a new album, but I guess Kiss did it for 10 years and the fans just kept showing up to hear the same tracks each year.  Even if by luck (and I know none of us are that lucky) the band comes out with a statement sometime next year of a new studio album we still should be either sad, pissed or confused by this news of the 'Epitaph" tour.

It just killed it for me because I haven't seen Judas Priest live since the 1988 Ram It Down tour. They didn't come here for the Painkiller tour and I missed both the reunion tour in 2004 and the Angel Of Retribution tour in 2005 which sucks. I was aching for this new studio album to be "normal" heavy metal so I could enjoy seeing them, and now its totally lame....I know its crazy  to those who are going because of the love for the band but it is what it is,I just can't see this band live without a studio album.I'm totally "butt hurt and bent" over this. I'm not as much of a fan as most on here, however the band is still my all time favorite.
Well if this is it then at least they can't unleash any more "bad news" for us to hear eh? Fuckin Priest anyways

Smile JP Management: Priest will keep going!!!

It's obviously offically: "This is the end of Judas Priest doing major world tours – but not the end of the band, thank Heaven." Those for Fans redeeming words said a speecher from the JP Management. The Band is just tired to do World Tours. Priest will keep going anyhow...

I heard in an interview that ozzy dosnt do back to back shows to protect his voice, and rob likes to do several nights straight to keep his voice in shape, that explains the headlining aditions.

I do agree with the in like a lion, out like a lamb thing.  but... what to do.  hope for a 4 hour set this tour?

Hey guys, don't sweat it too much, they just said it's the final world tour and nothing about future albums. Right? And even iif it does mean this is it and no more studio albums they can always come out of retirement and record a new cd and tour also.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Wednesday, December 15, 2010 3:43:19 PM
JT,Head Banger,HRMG and Metal Meltdown all have it right 100%. Especially Metal Meltdown: "In like a lion, out like a lamb".  As I keep saying the Nostradamus album is an incredible achievement and its a well rounded album of epic master piece even I can see that although I don't care for the album, its still a masterpiece and it looks like they busted thier asses creating it.

But its not "Judas Priest" its just not and why is it so hard for K.K. to accept this? The Nostradamus album is K.K.'s baby as he is the one that thought of this entire concept and that is a "fact" not an opinion. Rob and Glenn then jumped in and the rest is history.    This may be the "worst ending" of any band's career here guys.  Its left a bitter taste in my mouth and its left this forum saddened, angry and confused.

ALL of us and I mean "ALL" of us can handle that the band is retireing,it sucks but each and every one of us can deal with that, but we "ALL" were waiting on pins and needles for this next massive rush of power as Hellrider says with pride,we have all really been waiting for this since 3 weeks after the release of Nostradamus  for 2 and a half years and now just to read some shit "BIG NEWS" of the band doing a final world tour with NO ALBUM.

And do you like the way Jayne worded it: "However, the Priest will be going out strong playing all the songs that made them famous blah blah blah"ect...ect...  Going out strong? With the nostradamus album being thier last? "STRONG"? Who the fuck does she think she is fooling here?  They aint going out "strong" with a stadium full of fans that are half and half: Half of them will be excited to see them one last time and the other half is sad that they have no new album". I think it would be "better" if they just said "fuck the tour" and fuck the new album and the fans as well and just go home and golf for christ's sake. FUCK IT.

Ozzy's fans got a new album even though it sucks, they still got an album....Iron Maiden's fans got a new album,Motorhead's fans will have a new album in January,Saxon's fans will get one in March and if Dio didn't pass away he was working on "2" new Dio records and another Heaven & Hell studio album and was planning on recording into his 70's.

But Priest's fans get "nothing".  Yes we are all freaking glad that we have the past albums blah blah fucking blah but after 2 and a half years waiting for this next album with reading interviews of Glenn hinting about the next studio LP perhaps sounding "retro" and with Halford mentioning a possible new album a while ago....it gave us all hope and got our hopes up extremly high and now this shit. Judas Priest have turned into "Fun Vampiers" as they suck the fun out of everything lately.

I think that this shows you that Rob got himself an incredible management team! THIS is what they should be doing with Priest, but instead we have Jayne.... don't get me started. I don't think that the Halford band got in the way at all. I don't think Rob wants to sit around and do nothing, he just isn't that kind of guy. He gets bored. The other guys obviously want their downtime, which is perfectly fine. Looking at how Halfords touring went this year, he only committed to the summer. I think he was waiting to see what Priest was going to do. When it was clear they wouldn't be doing anything, he then booked with Ozzy and during this tour is also doing headline shows. If Halford was his main focus, I think he would have booked dates next year as well. I could be totally off base though, who really knows? I just think that Rob has a lot more music to share with the world before he is done and it looks like the rest of Priest doesn't feel the same way. Sad they are going out this way...... Just like you said, in like a lion and out like a lamb! And it sucks and it just isn't the way it should be!

I agree 100% JD. In like a lion and out like a lamb!  I am disappointed that there will not be another album.  I also agree that there should have been at least 2 more hell raisers in the footsteps of AOR.  Instead we get our "Saucy Jack" or Nost to lead us out.   I havent listened to that recording since the 2nd week I had it!!

I am thinking that maybe Halford, his band and recording is getting in the way of Priest.  If he has the commitments that it looks like he does then HE may not have the time to mess with Priest.  I get fucking emails from the Halford camp every day sometimes twice a day about a show or a sale or whatever.  I got tired of getting them and cancelled the email alerts!! I am thinking now that that has been the problem all along.   God knows he was doing shows and recording in tandem with Priest.

Who knows!  I wish it were different. I wish they would come back and melt every speaker I have with another Painkiller.  But I guess not.....

I pretty much said the same thing earlier, but in a different way. I don't feel that they owe their fans anything because they have already given us so much. I think they should do it FOR THEMSELVES! I have been a Priest fan for 28 years and I never in a million years thought they would go out this way. If I were asked by someone who didn't know Judas Priest at all to give them an album that would show them who Priest was, it wouldn't be Nostradamus. I love Nostradamus for what it is but I certainly don't consider it their greatest achievement. It's absolutely sad to me that this is being handled the way it is. The Scorpions are going out in style! They gave their fans one last album that sounded like the Scorpions of old and their fans loved it! They are touring for 2 years, including only a track or two from the new album and playing all their greatest songs. They are doing meet and greets and pre-show parties with giveaways. Now THAT's how you do it! THIS is UNWORTHY of Priest! But their management SUCKS and has for a very long time. I'm sure this final tour will be promoted like any other tour. You would think that Priest would want to go out with all guns blazing...... I guess not.

J.D., yes, I'll go to as many shows as I can and enjoy them. But I will be sick to my stomach at the same time. This should be a CELEBRATION of all that Priest has accomplished in their 40 years. They should end it with an album that wraps up their careers. But like you said, if it's not in their hearts to do it, then they shouldn't because it won't be our Priest...

I don't blame any fan for being angry I must say, I am let down tremendously I agree with everything you say JD. I love Nostradamus but come on people Priest are heavy metal, we should be getting the gut wrenching riffs with rip roaring double bass drumming and screaming vocals. The stuff that got us hooked on Priest to start with. What really pisses me off is when things like this crop up: http://guitarinternational.com/wpmu/2010/12/01/rob-halford-it%E2%80%99s-all-about-being-fearless/ (for some reason my mac won't let me add hyperlinks) Halford is asked a direct question about a 'next Priest album' and all we get is more ambiguity in the response. There is a hint that another album could be on the cards but never certain. Why can't they tell their suffering fans the truth? Seriously. I got straight on to kkdowning.net (steel mill) and asked him a direct question about Priest and if they are splitting up for good or just finishing touring, as of yet no response and I can guess there won't be one. I've also read interesting things about Jayne Andrews and I'm starting to agree maybe she is making some utterly terrible and very selfish career choices on behalf of Priest and their fans. GIVE US 1 MORE CRACKING METAL ALBUM FOR FUCK'S SAKE, THAT IS ALL I ASK! These guys are my idols and I look up to them dearly I just wish they would read these responses and respond to us.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Wednesday, December 15, 2010 4:04:12 AM
I'm not sure what you are talking about. The name "Judas Priest" is about what the band has established and that is bone crunching heavy metal and I see the greatness in Nostradamus as an epic album but its not my thing and its not 95% of old school Judas Priest fan's thing either.

The band are not little kids they are big boys and should be able to handle critisism.   What did they expect?  Did they  expect every fan and rivit headed heavy metal maniac that has been grinding thier souls on albums like Hell Bent For Leather,Unleashed In The East, British Steel,Screaming For Vengeance,Defenders Of The Faith,Ram It Down,Painkiller,Angel Of Retribution to suddenly drop thier metal cravings and learn to like the 22 song Nostradamus album that is almost an hour and a half long with over half of it soft tracks?

If they wanted to do the Nostradamus album in my opinion they should of done  it after they retired Judas Priest and call the band name something else and don't bother to tour it,like a side project. Even those who LOVE the album I've heard say they still want one last heavy metal record that can stand up to albums like Painkiller or British Steel.

well, youc can thankl all the moaning so called priest fans for the epitaph, seeing as most priest fans slated the nostrodamus album, its no wonder the boys are calling it a day.if all you want to listen to is speed metal albums instead of a genius of an album like nostro, then if i was one of the priest members i would say bollocks to you lot as well.i am in mourning at the moment that i am not going to see priest anymore after next year.so i hope you are all pleased with yourselves for slagging off thier albums.now i suppose those of you who dont like nostradamus will go off and slag some other groups albums and thinks its funny.got nothing better to do eh.i have loved priests music ever since i listened to unleashed and i cant understand why people have to moan.i would just like to thank rob and the boys for giving us some very memorable concerts over the years.oh and one other thing now i know why tim owens left as well, cause the same people moaned about him as well.instead of enjoying what they were doing.they made brill albums with tim but you didnt like them albums either because it wasnt rob.well boo hoo to you.
    hope you are happy now.

[J.D. DIAMOND] Wednesday, December 15, 2010 3:36:36 AM
Yes spapad HRMG's post is 100% "TRUE".   I think however that many that go to concerts regularly should attend these last Priest shows even if I'm butt hurt and won't go,that doesn't mean that everybody should feel the same but we should all be either sad or pissed off at this crap statement in December. Spa you said it best....."Big news in December"?  Christ not in a million years did I think that an "Epitaph" tour a final tour without an album would be the "big news"???  We all know what this band is capable of,for gods sake they still play "Painkiller" live ( yeah I know its not very good live anymore but the music is still heavy ) so why can't they produce that energy in the studio?

Maybe someone should create a thread for the band members to read and perhaps we should all tell the band that we demand another album, they have always said without "us" there is no "them" so we should have some kind of say in this right? Yeah I know we don't but work with me here.  Its just frustrating and if anything one of the band members MUST have seen Hellrider's post throughout these last 3 years demanding a blistering heavy metal album for that alone they should make one! I can't accept this and I "have to" .  This really "sucks" guys.

And I agree with HRMG ....(even though I know she will go and enjoy the last Priest concert) they release news about a final world tour with no new album and we are supposed to jump up and down excited because we are getting one last tour without a new LP?   This would of been so much easier to accept if they mentioned that in 2008 the new album"Nostradamus" will be the band's last album and tour ect...it would of been so much better but when we get hints and news that a new album could be in the works and then only to find out the joke is on us,that really is a let down.

It let down the fans,it let down the excitment about a new "real" heavy metal album and it let down this entire forum. We should be talking about a new track and album cover right now,but nope. Perhaps the guys in Priest will get an ear full this next year, maybe they will make one more to shut up people, but thier hearts have to be in it,and if its not then we won't get a good album. So I guess the guys in Priest have wasted too much time since Rob came back.  "SIGH". What a bitch this is guys.

This band has so much potential left in them but they refuse to use it. WOW.

HRMG, you hit the nail on the head.
It's been my feelings in the past week, but I pretty much kept them to myself and a couple of friends after my initial shock and pissed offedness about it.

Why say big news is coming in December? Big news is........guess what, Judas Priest is going into the studio this spring to record a new CD! THAT is big news!
Big News is NOT: By the way, We are retiring and are going to do Another greatest hits CD to tour with, THAT is not Big News, it's a Big Blow to the gut!

I can't help but wonder what happened? Wish we could get the Big picture, but chances are no one will know till after the Epitaph tour.

J.D. you have every right to feel slighted. I think we all do to an extent. This past weeks announcement was not expected, and we were all expecting ONE last killer CD.

They kinda caught us with a "W" style "shock and awe"
[HOT ROCKIN' METAL GODDESS] Tuesday, December 14, 2010 5:29:43 PM
After a week now since the big announcement, all I can think about is the piss poor way that this was all handled! Hey fans, there will be a BIG announcement in December...... did they really think we were all going to jump for joy about this??? Then the announcement itself - left us with many unanswered questions like: is this just the end of their touring or is it the end of Priest all together? They had to have heard the puplic outcry and KNOW that we all desperately want another kick ass METAL MONSTER album for them to hang their hats on, but we get no response. There is some "spokesperson" that states it's not the end of Priest, leading us to believe that there is still hope. But we get nothing official from Priest management to know whether or not that statement is true. FFS, isn't it MANAGEMENT'S JOB to be monitoring the response to this announcement? Shouldn't they put an end to rumors and misunderstandings and tell us what is actually going on??? That's what makes me think it really is over, otherwise they would say something. Then of course, there is the TIMING of this big announcement - during HALFORD's tour, on a day that he is performing! He is the only one available for comment while everyone else sits back and ignores the questions. It leaves me wondering, who did Rob piss off?

Some answers would be nice. But knowing Priest's management, we won't get any until the band tells us in an interview....

I agree with many on this board that believe that they just seem to be throwing it all away if they don't record another album. We all know that they have it in them. Hell, don't even do the songs live - just give us one last kick ass album that we can hold up and say, now THIS IS METAL! As mighty as Priest is, you would think they would want to end their careers on a KILLER BRITISH HEAVY METAL ALBUM!!

Good post Anders.  And it just pisses me the fuck off Guido, this band has all the cards, all the talet much more than Saxon and Iron Maiden put together but they aren't using it? It just pisses me off to see this,we should of had 3 normal heavy metal albums from this band after the release of Angel Of Retribution, after the last tour they should of done Nostradamus with no tour heading into retirement...it just sickens my stomach to see this band go out like this.

Coulda, shoulda woulda. I know,I know. Yes I do not care for the Nostradamus LP,but even I can see the "greatness" in the album, its just that if we had 4 killer studio album from 2005 - 2011 with Rob,then they toured thier final tour ect...then if they would of put out Nostradamus with no tour,I and even maybe Hellrider (maybe not hellrider lol!) may have accepted Nostradamus a little bit more?

It just doesn't set well with me to have the name "Judas Priest" end a career with the Nostradamus LP,if they would put out one more like Retribution/Painkiller it would make Nostradamus better for me. But Nooooooooooooo. Wheres my Belushi piicture? lol!

This is a sad moment for us all. For a long time now I have understod that the flame of Priest had not been burning as intense as before. I saw that they was feed and done for life when it came to doing Priest. I do not know why because they have much more to give. I hope they are not fighting amongst eachother - I do not think so.

It is a little bit strange. Judas Priest has been the best thing in their lives, I´m shure and why would they like to split now?

Of course one has to respect and accept their decission and off course they have thought this through. Still one must wonder anyway.

I can tell you how I am personally: I am not someone that wants to quit anything good. I do not like retirements. Retirements are like death! It like saying goodbye forever to a big part of your life - and you will ever see that again!

It is sad! We are all heartbrooken by this and I just wish they will keep on doing music in other forms again, some of the guys have done solo-things and that is good. However - understand this: it will no be the same thing as Priest!

What are they going to do for the remaining parts of their lives????

Sit in front of a warm fire in a house in the middlands somewhere??? Perhaps ziiipping on a whiskey, looking out on the dark landscape out there, remembering their young years as travelling metalmen!?
With sadness and dispair in their dead, lonely eyes, lost for the world - ever to rise again!

What will they do all this future years? Will the waste them, loose the meaning in the streams of forgotten times!??

Rob might want to keep on going...Who wanted out - how many of them where dead tired of their youthfull lives and wanted to kill of their carrer and say goodbye forever!?

I am sad today and it will never be the same again! Maybe this is a kind of end of my own childhood also - a time I never can return to!

Goodbye to Judas Priest and to my past life!

I've still got the rest of December to rant my frustrations with this once great band and thats not too far off of what member Rob Ward had said Meltdown, just a little harsher. I agree with Rob Ward to a point here. THis is not aimed at you Meltdown but although I respect other member's opinions and the fact that they want to see Priest live one last time I get that, but for me no fuckin way. Are you kidding me here?

They take 3 and a half long years just to create Nostradamus,an album that is anything but "Judas Priest" and then since they couldn't cash in on the tour because the album sucked that much they pull a switcheroo and strike up a 30 year old album and tour it for a year and a half? And then 3 years after the Nostradamus LP they talk shit here and there about possibly making another studio LP just to pull a "Nah....we've decided to do another carbon copy tour again with no album" crap? And we are supposed to jump for fuckin joy because they are going out on tour again? AGAIN?

Rob came back and did a reunion tour, the Angel Of Retribution tour, the 6 week Nostradamus tour because it sucked that bad,the British Steel reunion tour and now a fuckin farewell Epitaph tour? And alls this band really has to show for it is the 2005's Angel Of Retribution album in which ironically the biggest Priest fan of them all(Hellrider) hates it!  I however love the album, but they could of done way better, but thats the only thing that has come from this 7 years with Rob being back, and I for one think it "sucks". I think it sucks "big time".

Judas Priest will always be the Godfathers of heavy metal but they have not upheld that title at all,not even close. The last 20 years has only 2 albums worth a shit,Painkiller and Angel of Retribution, they had a huge opportunity when Rob came back, they should of had a blistering album out after Angel Of retribution for 2007,should of had another one out in 2009 and we should of been waiting for the final LP in 2011 and like John Belushi always said: "But Nooooooooooooooo" we ain't got "shit" and we are supposed to jump up and down because they decided to tour again with no LP? Bullshit.

Priest will always be the masters of heavy metal and the Godfathers of heavy metal but they are anything but defenders of the faith, not even close. Since Motorhead isn't really heavy metal and how Iron Maiden sucks as bad as they do(yes Brian, they fucking SUCK!) Saxon have been the band that upholds "consistancy" because thier last 7 studio LPs are great and consistant, they actually blow away Judas Priest and Iron Maiden put together and it shouldn't be like this even though I like Saxon,it should of been Judas Priest who should of had the last 7 studio albums top notch, but they did this to themselves. What a sad ending to a once great band. Priest SUCKS for not giving thier fans a real heavy metal album to go out on,they will be forever looked at as this end of thier career fizzling out like a dud firecracker, its fucking "sad".

They redeemed themselves with Painkiller after Turbo, returned to what I refer to as their swagger. Cd's like British Steel, SFV, Defenders, Painkiller, Unleashed in the East, ect. contained this swagger. They can redeem themselves again and return to that metal (Painkiller) swagger with a new cd and go out on top. I don't really care if they are the biggest or most respected and all that, just crank out solid metal and I'll be happy. I don't care if they don't tour again, just give me a one more cd with that old swagger to kick back and listen to in the comfort of my home any time I want. lol

Forgot about that shit!!  I dont study maiden!  BUT they did not lighten the load, change the formula, record their "Turbo".  Dont get me wrong, I am not ragging Priest.  There is great things in everthing they have done even turbo had some moments.  It boils down to consistancy.  I do wish they would have taken SFV and Defenders and increased the intensity of those till now.  Painkiller should have followed Defenders and it should have been gut wrenching metal on each following.  It should be Judas Priest and Tipton or Downing on every young aspiring guitar players lips instead of that no talent Kirk Hamett from Metallica who couldnt hold a candle to either.

I think in the mid 80's with the inception of, dare I say, Jayne Andrews is where it all changed.  They changed their look with adding big hair and flashier stage wear and they took a mainstream approach to their tunes trying to capitalize on the popularity of the hair bands here in the US instead of staying with the formula.  Turbo, even with its moments, would be more believeable as a Ratt album.  THey finally figured it out with replacing Holland with Travis and put out what Priest should have been putting out all along but then they shot themselves in the foot with the ripper era albums by making themselves sound every guitar chuggin drop d nu-metal band out there and we all know that Priest is NOT a nu-metal band.......

Priest is my band and I love 'em but I say these things because thats the way I now see it.  They could have been the biggest band in the world and were well on track of being just that by taking what Sabbath started and doing it right........

I get that they had one good album.  after that its all down hill, to the point where they release the farce that is chinese democracy.  actualy to use "they" with chinese is a streach.  its just axle.

I guess I love the variety of priest, more than the sameness of maiden.  supose that puts me in the minority

Ever heard of Blaze Bayley? He replaced  Bruce Dickenson who left Maiden from 1993 to 1999. They recorded 2 cd'c with Baily. They also lost guitarist Adrien Smith at the same time. Drummer Clive Burr left after Number of The Beast. So Maiden have had their setbacks just like Priest but continued to crank out quality metal cd's over the years.

GNR had the biggest selling debut album of all time. 18 million in the US alone. They were the biggest band in the world back in the early 90s. Up there with the likes of U2 and Pink Floyd. It's not going to be hard for them to sell 20000 tix today. Priest have never had anything more than mid level success and it's not down to Gull records. It's down to the fact that they have been inconsistant to the extent of alienating some of their fans and not sticking to their guns the way the likes of Maiden and AC/DC have.

I get that consistancy is the best sales formula, and it works for maiden and acdc.  I dont get GNR selling a ton of tix this year.  I get also that rob left, and that hurt, they had either 2 albums in 12 years or none, depending on how you count it.

even touring painkiller with megadeath and testament they didnt sell out here.  ok, testament was fairly unknown then, and the tour got fuck all for promo, but still.  maiden sold out that year, and every tour I can think of since, except the final frontier, which was close to a sell out.

I guess their consistancy is the downfall.  I personaly lay some of it at Gull records door.  the fact that you could go to a store every week, find a different cover or name, only to find you already had every song there three times over pissed me off.
[METAL MELTDOWN] Monday, December 13, 2010 3:08:08 PM
HB....Maiden sells out because Maiden has stuck to the same formula.  Maiden drives it home with each recording and thats what the fans expect and want.  You see a lot of bands that have stuck to their guns that will still fill up an arena.   When Halford left way back when I lost interest.  I was totally turned off by the Ripper era and although I regained interest in this band when Halford came back I can see and understand how a lot of people would not or the interest would be lackluster.  Maiden never lost Dickenson or anyone else and never went through a dry or slient spell like Priest did.  If these things never happened to Priest then Maiden would be opening up for them!!

I like that fact that there is diversity in Priest recordings and its taught me to be diverse in my own music but if they want to sell out shows then they should have been emulated what was done on Painkiller with every recording since.   Nost was their, IMO, spinal tap moment and its a shame they cant do one more to top or try to top Painkiller.  THey DID approach it with AOR......   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Head banger from Saturday, December 11, 2010 2:54:50 PM)

Ha ha haha! I'm going to be singing that in the morning.
Yes'sir! I will be careful sir! Lol I love this ride but havent done it in a while so I will be extra cautious but I'm still going to go flat out in the safe bits.

Well.. I'd be worried about the baby blue but they're good shoes!

"OOOOVER THE MOUNTAIN" <===sorry, had to break into song. lol

I have a pair of New Balance. NBx or something. I know them because of the laces more than anything else. They are wavy so they don't untie themselves. I have never run a race in them. Either I am worried that they are too mushy or because they are baby blue. HAAAAA!!!!

Careful on that bikeride, now. Even though I get a sadistic chuckle whenever I see one of those "dumbest moves" shows about some fool flipping off a mountain or forgetting their parachute when they jump out of a plane, I don't want to see you that way. M'kay?

Oh yeah, and tell your friend to get better shoes (or even better SOCKS!).

I'm doing cross training now and we've started running. My partner has the meanest blisters on his ankles/achilles tendon area from NIkes. Really messing up our cardio so we're going over the mountain tomorrow at dawn on our mean mountain bikes lol. I've taken off my clip pedals and put old fashion ones on so that if I lose balance I can put my foot down faster and prevent a fall. Been a very long time since I tackled the mountain so it will be a hectic ride but the first real training ride of my season. I will be going over in my trusty New Balance trainers lol.

Nope. I was wearing Pearl Izumis. My running shoes eventually become my walking shoes (then mowing the grass shoes..heh). I usually run on Mizunos or Asics Gel Nimbus. lol!
Can anyone tell that I was actually thinking of my wardrobe that day? PICTURE DAY (right before GD shoved me off my chair).

Oh ... for the opportunity to meet many of you on the upcoming tour ...
you all sound like you have had a blast hanging out together -
I'm envious.

I still cannot get over all the negativity from some of you.
So the Priest released "experimental" albums ...
that's what being innovative, creative, and leaders in something means!!
It means you aren't afraid to try something new-ish while staying grounded in your roots.

These 5 gentlemen have poured heart, soul and sweat into giving us AWESOME music and concert experiences for DECADES!  Heck ... ANYONE who's EVER been lucky enough to be in this band is part of that legacy.

If you're ready to move on from this band - do it.  It just leaves more room for us truly appreciative fans to show them what we're made of!

Can I say I've honestly only listened to Nostradamus once all the way through? I've tried time and time again in the past, but always get bored during the FIRST disc... It's just not Priest material.. I'd probably prefer it over Parental Guidance though...  More like British Steel - Vengeance - Defenders - Painkiller - Retribution kind of material I'm wanting - NEEDING - to hear from these guys, and a lot of people feel the same way! Please, oh please, at least one more album for us Priest fans!

You never know how people will react to criticism. Some might not care for it, others might take it a little too seriously.
