Yeah Steve Harris rocks in Def Leppard!
[Cooper Ryback] Monday, January 12, 2009 2:05:34 PM

Halford was gone for what...10 to12 years. They moved along just fine in my opinion so if Scott Travis or an Hill left I think they could survive that also.

Your thinking of Steve Clarke. Steve Harris is in Iron Maiden and is very important to their sound. He's also widely regarded as one of the best bass players in metal, if not the best. Blows Ian Hill away.

Like in any solid marriage, most times just knowing you're loved and needed needs to be followed up with an actual kiss and hug...

I did say ealier that Ian and Scott aren't given enough recognition, but they are certainly not a pivitoal or as important as Rob, KK and Glen.

Scott wasn't even in Priest in their so called "golden era"

Ian is certainly good bass player but he is not as central to Priest as other bass players ( like Steve Harris, Paul McCartney, Gene Simmons etc)

AGREED! WHEN I SAW PRIEST WITH RIPPER THEY SOUNDED GREAT, BUT THE PRESENCE, THE AURA OF HALFORD WAS MISSING.

I WAS AT THE HALFORD SHOW AT BB KINGS IN MANHATTAN WHEN HE ANNOUNCES THAT THE REMAINDER OF THE TOUR WOULD BE CANCELLED. I REMEMBER GETTING CHILLS. I JUST KNEW SOMETHING WAS UP WITH HIM GETTING BACK WITH PRIEST.  SOON AFTER THE ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE.  I WAS A 40 YEAR OLD WHO FELT LIKE A 5 YEAR OLD WAKING UP ON CHRISTMAS MORNING.

AND... AND THIS IS JUST MY OPINION, I THINK IAN AND SCOTTS PERSONALITIES ARE SUCH THAT THEY ARE HAPPY WITH WHAT THEY DO AND DO NOT WANT THE ATTENTION AS MUCH AS THE OTHERS.

ALL BANDS, TEAMS, GROUPS HAVE SIMILAR SITUATIONS WITH DIFFERENT PERSONALITIES, BUT ANY WAY YOU LOOK AT IT THEY HAVE BEEN THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD FOR ALMOST 40 YEARS.

PRIEST RULES!!!

You know.  When Rob left the band and Ripper came on as frontman the synergy was different.  No doubt Tim Owens has vocal skills; however, I for one was ecstatic when Rob returned to the fold!

Some may believe band members can be replaced.  But when replacement happens the overall package changes tremendously.  The foundation wouldn't be as solid, if either Travis or Hill were to leave.

Time has made it clear this is an effective combination!

I don't think there's doubt about it, and all of us being Priest fans we already know, don't you think?
there's no need to create a thread about it, we all know that Priest wouldn't be what it is today without Ian or Scott

I don't think so buddy,I woudn't Imagine Judas Priest without one of its members.
When Halford left many fans around the world felt they were gonna die.
Currently, when the members of a band with more than 30 years of life leave, the band starts breaking up little by little.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by jimmyjames from Tuesday, January 06, 2009 2:33:50 PM) Edited at: Tuesday, January 06, 2009 3:00:46 PM

Hill and Travis would be easily replaced.
[ladiesman] Tuesday, January 06, 2009 2:28:50 PM
We all know how important are the all the members of a band.
Nothing would be the same without them but why the topic???

Ian Hill and Scott Travis are spectacular on stage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There wouldn't be TOO much of an outcry I would think ya know? I mean I've never heard anyone play Painkiller quite like Scott does, the drums are always too thin or something with other people, or not turned up enough haha. They could definitly find someone that could do his job just as well though.

I would say that a lot of fans place more importance on the front three, especialy Rob.  note the if Rob leaves its not priest.
I agree they are all important, but there was a revolving door for the drummer spot, but no one cared.  I bet that if scott left, there would be no outcry that priest is dead.
[metalmaz] Tuesday, January 06, 2009 12:01:29 PM
A very valid point I totally agree.

It is very apparent from looking an concert footage or  Priest videos. The vast majority of the time the cameras show Rob, KK and Glen and very little of the rhythm section.  They do not seem to get the recognition they deserve.
