Where do you find Priest books?

Thanks for your response Tasnam - point taken.  Perhaps we will agree to disagree.

I read THE DIRT back when it came out years ago, and it's a good book, but if you're a Crue fan you'd know most of it already, so no big surprises in my opinion ... Tommy Lee's book is as much fun as THE DIRT I think :o)
Havent read any books on Priest, must consider it ...

Senior Rocker,

I can respect your feeling.

I would add though, that the Dirt book is unique because I do not think you would have to be a fan of Crue to get into the book.

The Defender book, I believe after reading it that if you were not a fan most (80%?) of the book would bore the heck out of you.  It is more about the band that we already know and is the "public story".
Find me a Preist book that is TRULY behind the scenes.

The Dirt is like an XXX rated "behind the music".

Not trying push Crue - Priest is my #1.   Period.

But regardless of someones feeling about the band The Dirt is a good READ.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Senior Rocker from Wednesday, March 04, 2009 1:52:01 AM)

Priest need to give their full cooperation to an authorised biography done by someone like Malcom Dome (who did an excellent biography on Iron Maiden).

Any book, a incarcerated Dave Holland writes a assumed letter to said author when the author himself was not sure of his location, which means anyone who knows anything about priest could have wrote this letter. Anyway the supposed author of said letter said he had every intention to release "his" story when he gets out. You can imagine what a load of shit that will be.

One thing to say about this book. While it has truth in it, it also has alot of half truths and possible downright lies in it from sources who have a chip on their shoulder. The end.

So many pages full of tour dates-if you don't mind that then it's O.K.I would recommend "Heavy Metal Painkillers" if you haven't bought it already.

Thanks everyone for your input.  I checked on this book when it 1st came out but thought it was too expensive & just forgot about it until I saw it in a book shop sale recently.  I think you need to have some initial interest in a band & perhaps go & see them before buying a book & for this reason Tasnam despite your glowing report re the Motley Crue book, as a band I have never been a fan of them or their music, so don't think I would bother personally..
[tasnam1] Tuesday, March 03, 2009 5:42:45 PM
I have the book and passed it along to another Priest fan.

I would say it is 'ok'.

I give it a 6 out of 10.

Reason:   Alot of the info in the book is recycled stories that all of us have heard from various sources.

Yes there is some new material and pics.
And some accurate info to fill in blanks.
But also some ( a handful or two) of errors.

I would recommend borrowing from someone instead of buying.

Now here's the deal folks.

I am a True Priest fan 100% through and through.

BUT I must say the BEST - Hands Down - BEST book that I just finished reading is Motley Crue's 'The DIRT'.

I am not trying to take attention from my all time favorite band on this site, but there is NOT even a comparison in the two books.

If I would give Defenders a 6/10 MC Dirt is 15/10 it is that good.  It is 450 pages + PICs and I was so involved I read it on a East coast/west coast flight in the U.S.
It gives the 'truth' according to each members perspective.  The same story may be completely different depending on which band members eyes is speaking.

It  touches on A LOT of X rated stuff - so be warned.  (Yes X rated stories with many Hollywood names)

I do not believe too many bands (of course there were some) acted they way these guys acted over their careers.

Spend your hard earned dollars on this book!!!!
After you read it post your thoughts - I am sure you will agree.
