I think the album is lacking in good solid lyrics. Why continue the Unforgiven? Some of it seems very good, but there are too many substandard moments in it for me. James has seemed to have lost that edge, and kicking Jason Newsted out of the band was a huge mistake. No offense to Robert Trujillo b/c he's a much better bassist. However, Jason has a good growl and a stronger edge to his voice that James has seemingly lost. |

i do like the song "All Nightmare Long" --my 1 complaint is the too long instrumentals at the beginning of most of the songs--I want them just to play--not drawl the song out |

I am not happy it has power but every song starts off the same and that is not a good thing what they need to do is dig deep and return to kill'em all. Edited at: Friday, October 31, 2008 9:46:27 PM |

I think with age their music has aged. It is much much better than the last few and should be
kick ass live. Cyanide, Apocalyspe, Nightmare and The End of the Line are the best
on here for me. Nice to see a little edge come back to a great Metal band.
NOT THE GREATEST THOUGH ! Long Live the Metal Gods |

It definately grew on me, I really like Cyanide and All Nightmare Long.
Cant believe how fast tickets in Manchester went- I actually cried on the way back from the box office.
I think I'm just not destined to ever see them live. |

(Broken, Beat and Scarred) The rhythm is too broken, the drums have that goddam awful sound like the skins are loose. I find the sound as a whole is rather shallow. Vocals sound good. But the song isn't even halfway through and I'm bored of it already... Fast forward... guitar..hmm...getting faster, less broken up. Rather good overall though the first half of the tune I could live without.
Listening from Metallica.com
My Apocalypse rhymes with loose paperclips. |

This album gets better with every listen for me, i've probably listened to it about 10 - 12 times now and its really good, some of the songs on it are going to be insane live, I'd recommend to anyone whose ever been a fan of the band to give it a chance. |

Not a great fan of the album, had it since released and only listened to it about 4 times. Atleast it's a step forward from St. Anger but that's not hard |

I just bought the album and I actually like it! LOL! Hetfield's voice has aged, but other than that... The riffs, the sound, the drums and the solos are all great! Old-school Metallica with a modern touch. It's metal and it's definitely the best Metallica album since 1991! |

I listened to it just a few minutes ago. Unfortunately, I only enjoyed part of it. There's something missing ... their soul maybe ? |

Its good, its their best since the black album, hetfield still sounds a little whiney on some songs, that echoy snare drum sounds a bit irritating but on the whole a return to form for metallica, hope they tour down under next year. |

I'm seeing them at the 02 in London on Monday 15 September. Really excited now!. |

I haven't cared for the last couple cds they put out--I'm all for a band to spread their wings ,so to speak & try new things but here of late their songs just haven't done it for me
Just my opinion. |

If you told me it sounded like Master/Kill'em All/Ride the Lightning I would have been a tad more interested as
I'm still a skeptic with Metallica's albums since the 1990s but will go see Metallica play if the chance arises. It's a guaranteed good show.
Probably won't be able to but, hey, c'est la vie, n'est-ce pas? I just end to listen it, not really impressed, I mean it looks like they forced his sound to sound like oldschool but failed in the half, it feels...forced....sounds like a blend of master of puppets, st.anger, load and the black album, with touches of ...and justice for all, but it fails to have any of the particular sound of any of those albums, songs are too long for my taste, none of them are less than 6 minutes!!, and the instrumental song...what's that for?? I mena is a boring instrumental, none innovation, boring, lack of feeling, I give this album a 6/10 just because is a poorely return to his former glory and because it is the best Metallica has gave us all in years, this is a no shame nor glory return, maybe for the next album. |

I'm gonna buy it for sure, if they fuck it up again like they did with St Anger I think that'll be it for me with Metallica. I'd be happy with an album the same in quality as load, having Rick Rubin at the desk has got to be worth giving metallica another chance. |
