| I very much like the new slayer record. Ya see to me Slayer is a personal preference. I know people will disagree with this but I think that alot of there records have to do with what songs and albums as a whole standout to you yourself. Like to me for example Motorhead doesn't have any bad records. At least the records I've heard(good luck ever hearing all 5000 of them haha). Granted I like them all but I can say that I like Kiss Of Death more than I like Motorizer because the songs on Kiss Of Death do more for me not to say i'm putting down Motorizer because I think thats a fine little record. So with that said the new slayer record sounds like bread and butter slayer but I think it's there best since Seasons because I really think that Dave Lombardo makes a big difference. You want him on your slayer records and in no way am I dissing Paul Bostaph(rock on TESTAMENT!!) or John Dette but Lombardo is the drummer for slayer. Christ Illusion was to me the best since Seasons at the time especially once again with the return of Lombardo but world painted blood to me was a tad bit more thought out, the songs STANDOUT more to me, and this record is also alot shorter than Christ Illusion. I think slayer records are better when they are shorter. This record has a little bit more of a classic feel to it than the last few. Plus I dig the lyrics on this one. I'm much more a fan of Araya and Hannemen writings than I am Kerry King. Ironically enough the weakest songs on the record to me are the Kerry King self penned tunes. This however is just my opinion. |

Well,I guess I'm too picky with my "Slayer". I first heard Slayer in 1984 when I was 14 my friend bought the "Haunting The Chapel" tape and the first track I ever heard was "Chemical Warfare" and ect....then I bought the "Show No Mercy" album, then I bought "Hell Awaits" in 1985,and "Reign In Blood" in 1986. When "South Of Heaven" came out in 88' I was extremly disappointed although its hailed as one of the band's best by some fans out there,I just thought it sucked apart from the awsome "Dissident Aggressor" cover track by our one and only. Seasons In The Abyss was half cool and half boring to me,and the rest ....I just can't handle thier sound/image/flavor after Reign In Blood,so maybe I'm not that valid of a Slayer fan,I just love thier first 4 albums I've mentioned and thats it,it just stops for me lol! But I can see your points of view though,right on. I will say that the new Slayer album is the first album since Reign In Blood that "sounds" like "Slayer" to me and again I'm only a fan of the first 4 LPs.

I loved the cover of divine intervention so much I was 100 bucks short from getting
it tattooed on my head when I was 17. If I ever go bald that's what I'm doing!! |

guitars but they've always kept their own style. I know a few people who

| Yeah they kinda went back to a uptuned guitar approach which is what they should be doing,but to me the song writting is lacking,but much better than the shit album" God Hates Us All" and the terrible "Chirst Illusion" and pretty much everything they did before that dating back to Seasons In The Abyss. Slayer sold out on South Of Heaven and Seasons In The Abyss and the albums after that are lame. They are finished in my eyes but I must say that this new album "sounds" like "Slayer" should "sound"....I fucking hate bands that down-tune thier guitars to fit in with Ozzfest bands like Godsmack,Disturbed and Slipnot,its a fuckin joke and Slayer was no exception. They still are a bunch of tunnel hat sell outs to me,but I can see why you guys may enjoy the new Slayer because they are at least trying to harken back thier original sound,its just too late for me. |

Saw Slayer live a month ago and they were awesome. Definately still a force to be reckoned with live. Have listened to WPB a couple of times, it's ok but I don't think it's amazing or anything. Gonna give it a few more listens before I really decide what I think of it. |

After Christ illusion was released I was kinda bummed out thinking
slayer had finally done it. Started to get boring with lackluster songs and
repetative lyrics. Listening to the new album made me think again. World
Painted Blood kicks ass, it's almost up there with god hates us all. Songs
like hate worldwide, human strain and not of this god fucking rule!! They still got it!!
