I wouldn't classify this as southern rock, but it rocks so I'll post it here:

Badlands ruled. Ray Gillen had a great voice. The guitar player is Jake E. Lee from Ozzy Osbourne fame.

One of the Most underrated bands.
Great lyrics, sick guitar, and my favorite is the the huge bass background throughout the last 6 minutes or so.
