BOTH OF THEM HAVE NO  GOOD MUSIC QUALITY.

Well, it didnt stop there... Ok, ok... Blink 182 are NOT punk, no matter what an average 12 year old girl says, but there were (and are) great bands after Sex Pistols and The Clash, and from all over the world, too (like the Dead Kennedys). And Ramones played some sort of punk when Johnny Rotten was still figuring out what exatcly is a microphone.

oh...uh...wait...are you serious???

no...I prefer to ommit my opinion about that...but I don't think heavy metal and crap (sorry...rap) would be friends...or get along...and I clearly said what I think about something related to punk in a previous thread...

no offense...but this thread is a dead end....

rap got it's name from the word c-rap, punk rock is just a bunch of noise from people who can't even play thier instruments, but don't get me wrong, I like bands like Pennywise, Agnostic Front(old shit) and Iggy Pop and the Stooges

RAP (and everything related to it) is CRAP...

METAL!!!!! rap is not music worth listening to. it is repetative, racist and sexist. Punk is much better but its all about standing on your own against the world. metal is about standing together!

What can I say man! Over the last 20 years, I`ve followed alot of different genres (Metal, Punk, Mainstream, Goth.........that was really bad in reflection)! Anyway, each and every band that I followed had a certain something that interested me at that time! I guess it`s what you make of it! In saying that, I have always loved metal and always will! Rock Hard, Ride Free Brother!!!!

Point well taken, Hellion. In fact, there is some punk I enjoy and we can all agree that there are good people in every walk of life. A bass player that was in a band of mine MANY years ago quit to go play punk in the 70's. I remember it well because he wanted to be a part of that movement, not the music. This guy was a bass virtuoso. He was able to play bass with the speed of a lead guitarist. Incredible! He chose to leave and be a part of that culture.

I agree with you Deep Freeze!
What they are selling is culture but talk to any hard core punk and they`re just like you and I!
They want what you and I want, to be accepted! And trust me when i say, there is alot of punk out there not worth listening to, but if you find the right band.............well who knows, you might just enjoy them! Rock Hard, Ride Free!

Well, not in the strictest sense anyway. They were sellling through music, but the product they offered was a movement, A lifestyle. A culture. As I mentioned, it is very similar to Rap in that there is not much there musically. As far as substance, the actual product is culture.

I agree. I guess they werent selling music,

Interesting comments, K2. It's funny but I don't think Punk was ever meant to be "good". Punk was more about the statement than it was the music. It was about the 'look", not the melody. In fact, I have heard it said that is why Punk did not last. It was never really about music. Punk bands were very  dismissive of bands that tried to blend musical ability with their sound. Fortunately, there were enough very talented people in early Punk to leave some kind of a decent legacy (the Clash, etc).

In many ways, I think rap suffers from the same problem. It is not about music or musical talent, it is about a "look" and a statement. It is cultural by its very nature and, therefore, subject to the whims of its supporters. What I mean is, there is nothing musically there that would allow it to transcend its cultural appeal. There is nothing else to it.

When i hear punk music i tend to scratch and lean more toward the belief that more practice is required,
and we are un the border line of No Musical talent. And that is a place to be avoided if you expect to be heard for any Substantail duration.
RAP is noise, self grandizing.

If anyone can get a hold of an album from The Lime Spiders (Sydney,Australia band) called Headcleaner, give it a listen! It`s Punk/Metal all in one! I don`t care for rap at all, in fact I think it`s mindless dribble from retards that have an I.Q. of 10! And that`s being generous!!!!
[mmmmmm] Friday, October 03, 2008 7:16:53 AM
I can't stand Rap--I mean no offense to those who do like it but it's just not my cup of tea
I prefer SINGING with my music & most rap is talking & rhyming
I do like the Ramones & the Clash & The Red Hot Chili Peppers are kinda of a punk rock band with some of their songs.
[devils_child] Friday, October 03, 2008 7:12:21 AM
*shudder*.... i prefer to think that neither exist...

The Ramones and The clash, there's a big difference
between them and later punk. Lightyears.

Rap - Hip Hop suck.

Punk is not very musical but certainly speaks loud. I like lots of "clasic" punk bands such as Sham 69, Rezillos, Dead Boys, Clash, Exploited, Dammed, GBH, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, English Dogs, Discharge, Circle Jerks, Minor Threat and Sex Pistols.

You like or not, punk had big influence in Metal specially in Thrash, Death and Grindcore.
