I don't think you can compare Maiden and Priest because they have a totally different sound.
I agree that Priest riffs are more true to the Metal sound - fairly straightforward and simple - Black Sabbath influenced.
Maiden's are more complex and varied - Led Zeppelin, Wishbone Ash influenced
Both bands are brilliant, but both very different

I think that Priest`s riffs are a more traditonal style of Metal. Deep and powerful and repetitve for what the song calls for. And for me ,that is what makes them so much better.
Maiden are all over the place with their riffs(not that it is a bad thing),just that they loose some of the power that way. They are doing more harmonies than Glenn and Ken,but they can with 3 guitarist`s. It affords them the room to expand on what they are doing.
The galloping horse from Harris,while entertaining,does get old after a while. I prefer Ian`s approach to laying down the line of the song .
Don`t get me wrong here,I enjoy Maiden greatly. But Priest is where it`s at for me.

Who's has the better riffs and what differences are there between them. With Priest. I feel like I am on a motorbike and listening to the engin rev up. Also I think that Priest's riffs are more funky in a mettalic way.
Maiden riffs are good to. I feel like I am on a Horse and the riffs gallops more than JP.
