I remember my first Judas Priest mix CD. When I first got into them I asked for a copy of AOR from a friend (because I was poor as heck), and then my niece showed me how to use Limewire (I know...it's illegal...I'm sorry!! I was dumb...I'm buying the remasters like I should). Anyway, after hearing several selected albums, I made my first compilation two summers ago, and it went a little something like this.:
Rock Hard, Ride Free
Demonizer
The Green Manalishi (with the Two-Pronged Crown)
Electric Eye
Painkiller
Worth Fighting For
Judas Rising
Lving After Midnight
Deal with the Devil
You've Got Another Thing Coming
Angel
Sinner
A Touch of Evil
Victim of Changes
Hellrider |

In my earlier teens I listened to a wide variety of music, pretty much influenced by my peers. When I reached year senior in high school I met a really cool teacher, (who's is now is very good friend of mine) that introduced me to some rock music - mainly British stuff, so I started listening to that. But I know all the Metal bands where still there in the back of my mind from when i was a child. On the occassional road trip my mum would put Unleashed in the East or Vengeance in the CD player so i'd sit there staring out the window and listen. I'm very greatful that 1. My Mum has an exceptional taste in music and 2. She was able to sucussfully pass that on to me and my brother. I haven't looked back since, I'm still exploring the genre and being on this noticeboard has given me ideas as to who i may listen too next. I picked up some Scorpions the other week and am currently enjoying listening to that..![](/FCKeditorNEW/editor/images/smiley/fun/music.gif) [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Darth_Painkiller_0870 from Tuesday, December 02, 2008 4:20:12 AM) | ![](1.gif) | Darth_Painkiller_0870 wrote: | | That's pretty cool DC! Awesome, I know my Brother loves AOR, First album I got him was SFV... He loves the 82' concert DVD so that's why i got him SFV first. He has about half the collection now after i gave him a heap of JP cd's and all the dvd's for his birthday today. He's one happy boy at the moment.
First JP I purchased was actually their 82' Vengeance concert DVD, that's how i fell in love with the music.... I don't know of many people who would buy a live dvd as their first purchase for a particular band.

I had heard Priest before, but the first CD i actually brought was the Essentials one.... Got it for $10, wasn't going to pass up on such variety at that price. It has a good mix of songs, helped guide me as to what albums I should purchase next. Now that i have all of them, I would say that getting a compilation is a great place to start, especially with a band such as Priest due to the varying styles between all their albums. And having such a large back catalogue..... it's gotta be 2 disc

In all seriousness I did one for my brother before I went and purchased a heap of Priest CD's for him. List goes as follows.
(Not in exact order)
Hellion/Electric Eye
Exciter
Hell Bent For Leather
Green Manalishi
Metal Gods
Desert Plains
Painkiller
Between The Hammer And The Anvil
Touch Of Evil
Sinner
Better By You, Better Than Me
Devil's Child
Deal With The Devil
Judas Rising
Hot Rockin'
Breaking The Law
The Sentinel
(Keep In mind he was suggesting to me what he wanted on the disc. If i was doing a disc for someone who had never listened to Priest before it would be different. Probably would make 2 discs and include something from every album.) |
