Gotta remember at the time that Painkiller was one of there biggest failures commercially, but ironically, 20 years later it's considered one of the best metal albums period. Weird.

I hope they do the full Nostradamus album too...but overall I'm just happy they are coming back this summer!

No he couldn't. You can imagine though what it'd be like if he could.Too bad they didn't do that back in 1991.

I would have to agree, that's why British Steel is the best choice. And perfect timing because of the anniversary.
[DelivererofEvil] Monday, March 30, 2009 4:12:13 PM
I don't think that would be feasible... I doubt Rob can pull an entire concert of Painkiller tension to his voice...

Like Screaming4Priest said before, if 'Priest played the entire Painkiller album on any tour...I would pee my pants

well said Mara, I agree it's too long and won't keep
the audience attention. I'm stoked to be able to see
British Steel this summer!! Can't wait to get my tix!

Perfectly said Deliverer of E....You made excellent points on all the reasons why they are doing what they are doing this tour.  I am pretty sure Nostradamus in its entirety will NOT happen...It's not gonna bring in the fans and fans = revenue. Artistically, it will not appeal to the core Priest fanbase, both young and older.Too long... and unfortunately for most of today's media consumers, we don't have the attention span to sit through 2 CD's worth of concept. I mean, most people think that a 2 hour movie is too long....British Steel contains songs that are "anthemic", and yes, we can all sing along.! It's FUN.... nothing wrong with that... I, personally really really like Nostradamus...but it's more like a film sountrack not a soundbite!  And we attention deficit consumers like the soundbites, don't we.?

People, there are several reasons why doing a British Steel tour is a better idea than pulling off a Nostradamus tour.

1- British Steel is one of the indisputable classics, EVEN though it isn't (and by far in my opinion) their best album.

2- A tour of Nostradamus, and here I'll speak for Europe, would be a flop because general interest to see the whole album played live (as in, a Priest show with no classics and no Painkiller) is well below encouraging.

3- While Rocka Rolla is a great record, Rob can't reach half the songs he sang in there anymore, my friends, and we have to accept it. And singing Run of the Mill without thoser god like screeches at the end would be murdering a fine masterpiece in my opinion.

4- On the same note as the previous point, British Steel is WAY easier to sing overall, and is more adaptable to Rob's current voice. Besides, it's an album that'll have the crowd singing along, and then there'll still be time to put in something else from the classics and even a couple of tunes off Nostradamus!

That said, I think the Nostradamus tour will be delayed ad aeternum. Some dreams are just meant to be dreams, I am a huge fan of the album but I have to admit it wouldn't do them any good to insist on touring the whole of it.

And yes, Priest are still planning the Nostradamus tour and production. It is not cancelled and WILL happen.

The band does enjoy Rocka Rolla, they just hate the production. I got the "remastered" Rocka Rolla with Diamonds and Rust as a bonus track and it all sounds grea to me.

If I have a chance to see Priest again this summer I will. It is great to see the mighty Priest any time but why play British Steel? I have been a fan since the early 70s. I have heard enough of it. Bring on NOSTRADAMUS!!!! It is a great album.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Wednesday, March 18, 2009 4:28:31 PM
I don't think the band likes Rocka Rolla...its us fans that do.Thats what it seems like though. I wish they would do some songs from Rocka Rolla though.

WOULDN'T BE EVEN BETTER IF THEY DID A 35TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR OF ROCKA ROLLA? RUN OF THE MILL, DYING TO MEET YOU, CHEATER. OR IN 2 YEARS A 35TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR OF SAD WINGS OF DESTINY? DREAMER DECEIVER, EPITAPH, ISLAND OF DONIMATION.

I CAN DREAM CAN'T I??

....wouldnt it be great if they left out Breakin the Law & Living after Midnight from the setlist?

I hear about Judas Priest doing British Steel US Tour This Year In Summer 2009 with Whitesnake it is Ture?
[Screamin' Demon] Wednesday, March 18, 2009 4:20:51 AM
It did only say though that all of British Steel will be played on the US tour. Maybe that's just it. And then hopefully Nostradamus tour. It'd be stupid if they give up Nostradamus tour. I think a lot of fans who have been looking forward to this for so long would be pissed off, including myself. Hopefully this full British Steel shows will be for US tour only and then Nostradamus tour in August/September like they said...at the back of summer which is about that time.

It seems to me like theyre giving up on the Nostradamus album now, TBH
Which is a shame, i love the album and would love to see a full performance of it
