The R-N-R Hall of Fame is like trying to pettion the goverment to do something. They don't care how many names are on a pettiton they are only going to do what they want to do. It pisses me off that Rob Halford's Harley was displayed at the R-N-R Hall of Fame for some time, but the band is not inducted into the Hall of Fame? Blatant red tape and government type hipocisy. It's a shame and a sham all at the same time.

FOR YOU SPAPAD...

I thanks you for your observation...
I knew it that R-N-R Hall of Fame don't give a shit on people internet petitions, and the staff from R-N-R get other criteria to select the musicians for beeing inducted in the gallery,so my petition is just a symbolic gesture one,but also these internet petitions exist ,and that means these can be viewed and also peoples sign there these petitions and that means that could help the people from R-N-R Hall of Fame stop beeing such blind anymore to the real values and to start to open their eyes and recognise these real values such Judas Priest and Rob Halford, and that  NOW,not AFTER their death .
I thx. again for your observation.

Greetings from Romania,Arad

A great acheivement for the band members but I don't think they were after any sort of grammy, but obviously they will take it in honor.  I think it is a good thing I suppose, after all.......all the attention in the world of heavy metal goes to "Iron Maiden" anyways so yes this is a good thing. Not going on a Maiden bashing fest here, but I am tired of Iron Maiden towering over Judas Priest and its not Maiden's fault,it just is what it is but I'm tired of Maiden getting all the credit in the realm of heavy metal. If it wern't for Judas Priest there wouldn't even be an Iron maiden, not the same Maiden we all know.

ABOUT JUDAS PRIEST NOMINATION AT GRAMMY TITLE IN THE BEST METAL PERFORMANCE SECTION WITH THE DISSIDENT AGGRESOR SONG FROM TOUCH OF EVIL LIVE ALBUM,BUT ORIGINALY FROM SIN AFTER SIN ALBUM
ABOUT THE JUDAS PRIEST POSSIBLE NOMINATION INTO THE INTERNATIONAL ROCK ROLL HALL OF FAME AND WINNING THE TITLE INTO THE BEST HEAVY METAL BAND SECTION,AND ROB HALFORD INTO THE BEST METAL SINGER SECTION.

1.Related to the rules of nominations and the titles into Grammy:
I am very very sad cause the Judas Priest didn't got a Grammy title,in any other section, long long time ago,how they deserved, and just nominations and i am very very bad surprised about how the things go there at Grammy,i mean i don’t know who can vote there for nomination and if the peoples who vote are authorizated musicians or not, then on what criteria are the votes and how many votes is need for to win a title, etc.but certainly, speaking as a musician, not just as a fan,in my opinion, with sure exist there musicians which was nominated many many times, and others not even once,or musisicians  who win lots grammies, and others nothing, and some musicians which didn't deserved to win some so fast and others which won after lots years, and finnaly some musicians which didn’t deserved to win ever but I repet,I don’t know how exactly go the things there, its just my opinion, and I think the same for other titles such as Music Awards Title, and for Rock Roll Hall Of Fame titles, etc.

2.Related to their nomination and the title into Grammy:
I was very very happy when i red on the internet news about the Judas Priest nomination at the Grammy title,in the section of Best Metal Performance, and i was very very surprised when the news announced that they won the title, and i expected to see the entire show on Tv,where i saw how they were announced for the title and when Rob and Scott cames and picked the title finnaly and when Rob,in his....wooow,cool black costume, spoke so beautiful about their honour to pick this title, and about their thanks to their special peoples, and to their fans. For sure they already deserved to  win more many nominations already, and more many titles,in my opinion they deserved to be nominated not just for the old albums, and old songs, from which also I think they already deserved to win the title for British Steel album with the song Breaking The Law,which in my opinion,is one of their most  popular song, and for which they made the most interesting video, they going to a bank but not for steel money, but a title ,the title which they thought they already deserved at that period, but also even with some from Painkiller album, from which they already deserved to win the title with Painkiller song, and even from Angel Of Retribution album from where they deserved to win a title with Hellrider song, another king of Painkiller,in my opinion,a little hard one,and finnaly even from Nostradamus album from which they deserved to already win the title with Nostradamus song, another kind of Painkiller,a little symphonic one.
3.Related to their nomination and Rob Halford nomination and winning a title in Rock& Roll Hall of Fame :
I hope I will see finnaly and one day soon that Judas Priest will be inducted into the International Rock Roll Hall Of Fame as best heavy metal band, and ofcourse Rob Halford, into the best metal singer section, reason for which i already start a petition into Go Petition site and which i administer this for his induction in this, and which i invite you to look over,to read it,and finnaly if you are agree with it to sign it to put together hand by hand into a simple signature, which not cost us anything, just a minute from our time, for to help as that miracle to happen soon, now when he is still alive, and not after his death, how ussualy the things goes.

shame i never bother to watch the grammys...or any  hollywood red carpet kiss-ass session.
[PRIEST_HAMMER] Thursday, February 25, 2010 1:27:28 PM
I watched most of the Grammy's except the last fifteen minutes...I was giving up on whether they would televise the metal catagory. As last year they did not. I was pissed. I like all the nominees too and super glad that Priest beat them all. But on a serious note... the Grammy's are a waste of time.

Well jj, apparently I cannot answer your question to your satisfaction. I am not really all that certain that "everybody" is so happy. I do not plan to throw a parade anytime soon for this. Farce? Yeah, I suppose that is a decent definition. Rob seemed rather pleased, from what I could see.  Scott's little hippity hop walk was amusing.  Must "mean something" to them, in some way. Does it really mean anything in the "grand scheme"?..likely not.

I get your point, jj. I am no fan of the Grammys. I am no fan of the public, either. Its all a joke as far as the measure of musical talent goes. There are many, many acts that receive awards and I just do not see the attraction but, I am not the target audience. I am "happy" for Rob and the guys. If it makes them smile and Scott skip on television, I am happy for them. Other than that, it is what it is man.

Well, it may be a farce to you, but it obviously means something to them, who knows in what capacity, but I'm sure it does to a certain degree. Although if I was Priest I would be a bit tempted to give the grammys the middle finger salute after getting overlooked at possibly more appropriate times, i.e. Painkiller losing to Metallica covering Stone Cold Crazy.
I think (although I personally thought it was pretty cool they won) it's a bit too little too late for industry recognition for Priest, and AC/DC too. The music industry these days is so commercialised and about mass produced rubbish (I still have nightmares about driving around with my mum and her blasting her Lady GaGa CD, yuck yuck yuck, lol), and that's what gets rewarded in record sales and actual awards - that to me is what has made the grammys rather worthless. It's all about who's popular now to the masses, not what is actually good music. These awards prove time and time again that they know NOTHING about real rock and heavy metal, the handing out of the awards is a bit like pin the tail on the donkey, it's done blindly - like Eddie Truck so eloquently put it.
I had a girl at work the day before the first AC/DC concert try to convince me Lady GaGas CD is so awesome and totally not what you'd expect etc etc - I reiterated that I was about to go see AC/DC live, therefore my interest in that sort of rubbish is nil, lol.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by jimmyjames from Friday, February 05, 2010 3:26:07 PM) Edited at: Friday, February 05, 2010 4:08:51 PM

When Metal bands do something that finally the mainstream can no longer ignore, and they have to give a little nod to, that is a success.
So what if you don't believe in the grammys. They got a nod from the corporate supidasses that run the industry with a 30 some year old song. I respect that. If you can't J.J. then maybe you are just not looking at it from the right angle. In other words. Whatever.

So what is everybody so happy about? Congratulations guys on a new marketing tool? Congratulations guys on the acknowledgement by your peers Beyonce, The Blackeyed Peas and Jay Z? Congratulations guys on being part of a load of self indulgent nonsense? Congratulations guys now you can put a little sticker on your cd covers that says Grammy Winners? Gimme a break. This award is a farce.

I second all of what Freeze has said. The lack of value in the grammys is not in the acts who are nominated, necessarily, but the fact they so obviously don't care about the supposed 'minor' genres such as the metal performance category - which I agree JJ, is pretty bloody vague.
LMAO yeah that comment about Jay Z was good, I honestly could give a rats ass about that dipshit.

[Deep Freeze] Friday, February 05, 2010 7:47:23 AM

JJ, I agree with a large portion of what you say. I mean, the "powers that be" clearly do not know the genre or, at the very least, respect it. As far as the "value", it is as I mentioned before, there is a certain value in the recognition and marketing potential. Surely you understand that much, given that you are now getting exposure to radio. I believe you are "over-thinking" it, my friend.

When an act can put "Grammy Award Winning" in front of their name, it is a huge marketing tool. Just as the Academy Awards are important for actors and film industry types, the Grammys have a certain value to the music industry. The general public will always be nimrods. They have NO idea what is talent and what is not but they do buy albums. Whether we like it or not, Judas Priest make music for a living. It is their job. Just as we enjoy the advantages of various awards, certificates and other forms of recognition in our work world, a musical act will be able to make use, how ever slight, of a Grammy award in the same way... Marketing their wares. Further, it is an acknowledgement amongst their peers.

Do I believe Priest will have some significant jump in album sales as a direct result of this award..? No. They have accomplished more as a Metal act that most bands will ever know but they will have yet another milestone to add to their list of notables. There is some value there, at least as far as I can see.  As far as the Grammys themselves, it is just as Eddie Trunk said,  they are a lot of self-indulgent nonsense. They push the "pop" angle as hard as they can because that is what SELLS, and then they throw in things like a "Metal" category so that they appear to be legitimate. I love his comment, "God forbid they cut away from their multiple reaction shots of Jay Z just to televise Priest live.."  HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While I agree the grammy awards are shite at best, the fact that priest got some (minor) press out of it is good for them.  some publicity is beter than none.  one day (yeah right) the grammy awards might be about music.  nah, never hapen

Why the fuck is everyone so happy that Priest got this award that has absolutely no value whatsoever. Everyone seems to agree that the people who run the grammys have no idea what the fuck they are doing so that would make the award bullshit, which it is. Ushered in through the back door and given the award away from the eyes of the general public and then interviewed by some dwarf slut who didn't know who they were. It 's a fucking joke. Priest should have told them to get fucked when they were nominated. Yay we're finally being acknowledged by people who don't know who we are or care about our music and haven't listened to it. Even the category is vague, best metal performance or something, what does that mean? Live performance? Studio performance? Best performance on a live metal album? Can't be that because Megadeth were nominated for Headcrusher and that's not on any live albums. Did the fuckballs that vote for the grammys cruise around various metal gigs and watch the bands and then decide? You can't tell me that in a whole year Priests performance of their 33 year old song was the best metal performance by any metal band in any kind setting. If it was they'd have been nominated for best rock/ metal album. By accepting this award Priest are being ass kissers.
