Hell Bent For Leather definately, British Steel is a landmark album, however Hell Bent is just heavier better riffs better drums better vocals.
Hell Bent For METAL! FOR EVER!

British Steel, my favourite heavy metal album... Every song on album is at least good, but most of them are pure symbols of heavy metal. But respect for Hell Bent, an amazing album...\m/

I want to say British Steel...but I still love Green Manalishi. Running Wild and Hell Bent...don't know if it's enough to sway my vote - depends on how my day went!

They're both extremely good albums. I'll say British Steel, but only narrowly.

British steel is definately a better album and I listen to it a lot more than hell bent, but that doesn't mean that hell bent was bad. Both have some really classic priest tracks but I think the style they were going with on British steel really started to define what priest was all about.

British Steel is the more acessable of the two but Hell Bent / Killing Machine is equally great.

Myself I vote for Stained Class as their absolute best studio recording

I think British Steel really defines what Priest have always been about since it was the first MAJOR evolution for the band. They've evolved so many times since then that it's just expected by this point, but British Steel was the starting point. The change revitalized the band, something I think they became addicted to as time went on. :)

However, Hell Bent For Leather (the title track) is one of the best Priest songs ever and was basically the culmination of their gradual evolution through the 70's. So it's just as much of a milestone as British Steel was.

Um - 'Hell Bent...' is called 'Killing Machine' ty - british band, british title...and i think it peed over the commerciality of 'British Steel'
