My mother is from Kempten (I think that is near Munich). My grandmother (Rosa Barnsteiner) is from Berlin. My grandfather is from Berlin as well, I think. His last name is Schumacher. I don't know if I'm related to Michael and Ralf. My mother will not tell me very much about my heritage as well - looks like its the current trend with relocated German people to not want to talk about the past.
I am planning a trip to Germany for Oktoberfest in Munich. Maybe next year. Maybe my mom will give up some information before then, so I can contact any relatives.
