In a normal job yes, it would be hard to swallow. But in the US, with certain occupations like truck driving, different rules apply and a paycheck isn't just about getting paid by the hour and have your taxes and insurance taken out. Unfortunately that is how it is, depending on the companies, and most trucking companies carry more bullshit than they carry freight. If you don't believe me, take a look at the truck driver forums on the web. Working and owing the company you work for because you're forced to ask for money in advance to pay the bills just doesn't cut it. Thank god the nightmare is over.

My post was an exageration, and an attempt at humor to be honest. However they did take alot of money out of my wifes 1st paycheck, and to be honest...I've made more money in tips one night than she did on a three day paycheck.
Your story, if true, is a bit much to swallow. Yeah, I'd be getting a good lawyer, and seeing what could be done legally also. Hope it goes well.

I'm expecting a certain (bleeped) company to have a class action lawsuit against them sometime in the future.
Does a $-850 paycheck make sense to you? I have lived that way for years. There is far worse out there too.

1st paychecks piss me off!
1. 3 days of training = $134
2. State tax = ridulous amount subtracted.
3. Federal tax = ridiculous amount subtracted.
4. FICA & SS = ridiculous amount subtracted.
5. Uniform cost = $15 subracted.
The final result = ridiculous amount in debt...must wait another 2 weeks, before one actually makes any money! Edited at: Tuesday, August 26, 2008 9:19:45 AM |
