Certainly there are "high hopes". There always are when a new man takes over the White House. Bush made promises, too. They all do. That is part of what they do. I do not believe the country is going to crumble or anything like that. We go on. We managed to get through Clinton so I see no reason to fear. I will say this, if Obama being president can make things better socially (race relations) then I am for that. There is still far too much hate in this country and I would like to see it dissolve.
As for the economy, I really doubt that he is able to do much about that. I mean, he does not have the experience to make those decisions. They will be made for him. Of course, he will take credit (as did Clinton and his supporters) but it will NOT be because Obama is some kind of great leader. The financial situation is being addressed and will right itself through the work of those that actually know what they are doing. The bailout money will not hurt! HA!!!!!!! I can assure you the machine has many wonderful parts and it will be fixed. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Head banger from Wednesday, November 05, 2008 7:21:46 AM)

well, I for one cant wait to see how it goes. Obama promised to reopen the free trade agreements with Canada and mexico, to ensure that they meet enviro and labour standards. most canadians think that we have higher enviro and labour standards. I dunno, never read the american ones. I do know that were I in charge f canada, I would bring the treaty that says we must supply the USA with oil along, and renegotiate both at the same time.
