I'm pissed off at NZ Customs right now! My husband bought an electronic drum kit off eBay (a proper drum kit that is compatible with Rock Band - our Rock Band kit is broken LOL). Turns out cos it's worth over a certain amount my husband needed an customs client number to import it. Ok so we managed to sort out the necessary forms although he's in Afghanistan. I sent that off to FedEx at Auckland International Airport (where the drum kit is currently) and THEN the lady tells me customs charges goods and services tax (GST) on imported items worth over a certain amount. WTF?! It'll be another 12.5% AT LEAST of the total price of the kit plus postage (around $1500NZ) to pay customs, and could be more cos it's an electronic item. I'm gonna argue the toss about it being a musical instrument cos that may bring the cost down. But I am mighty pissed about that, sneaky blimmin fees that make no bloody sense Edited at: Wednesday, March 18, 2009 9:29:14 PM
