To avoid the extorsionate taxes! The British Government is tax crazy! Gordon Brown would put a tax on kleenex if he could justify it! I don't blame them one bit for protecting their assests. They worked hard for them.
As for being Knighted, that is a great honor that is bestowed on so few. I feel proud the crown recognized his great accomplishments over his life time.
