Oh yeah your telling me! My job is nothing as to what it was.. Luckly I do Corporate travel so I work with large companies rather then walk-in or lesiure travel. However regardless everyone is cutting back including these compaines!
There is a major difference in using an agent compared to an online reservation system, honestly it depends where you are going! If the trip is Intl , use an agent! With the layovers and schedule changes personally I would use an agent. Travelocity and sites similar don't notify and/or reissue tickets. Instead you are left to find out at your own at the airport. The end results can be using losing value of your tickets... plus what you dont see if that you have to pay a service for the booking its just added into your taxes.
But! If you go within the u.s, I agree book it online! Its can be cheaper and you usually should not have many issues within the us... But if your curious on pricing you dont have to book with me, I can just look it up and let you what you should pay.. I can get the same fares.. It would make the searching process easier...
What a shitty agency! Sorry they did that too you! Let me know if I can ever help... Its the summer and I'm bored!!! | | Deep Freeze wrote: | | You know SR, a couple weeks ago I may have taken you up on that offer BUT I have recently had a very distasteful experience with my travel agent and have decided her services are no longer needed.
Whe the Princess and I went to San Francisco in April, everything was great. We used our same agent from past trips. Good service, fair price, nice hotel and some fun tours. All in all, a very pleasant trip. When we decided to go to San Diego a couple months later, I called the same agent and asked her to prepare a package. Almost three weeks later, I had still not received a return call!!!!! Finally, I contacted another agent (same company) and gave her my information. About three or four days later, she called and gave me a package to St. Thomas!!! I told her we did not (and could not) travel that far and she told me she had nothing "on the beach" in San Diego!
I decided to do the same thing I did with my upcoming Detroit trip and simply go online to Travelocity. Not only did I get a great deal, we got a FOUR star resort ON the beach, airfare AND transfers! I have decided that there is really no reason to utilize a travel agent when I can do the same thing myself and save a few bucks. Sadly, this is what things have come to in the travel industry. Apparently, the agent could not make enough money on the trip I requested and so I became insignificant. | | Sinner Rider wrote: | | I'm a Intl travel agent and work is very slow. I can help with travel if anyone needs it. |
