Yup, no alcohol at Munn anymore. So now instead of keeping all the partying students and alumni in one place, they are doing it all over. Nothing like that next to parents with their little kids! STUPID! They thought it would put an end to things? YEAH RIGHT! Now they are just doing it in groups in the regular lots. I loved the trash can parties! WOO HOO, nothing like that at 8am to get a body going!
I went to witness the riot at Cedar Village in '90. Wow, those people burned everything. Broke into peoples apartments and tossed their furniture off the balcony and then lit it on fire. They burned all the fences and poles.... we got out of there before it got really crazy.
Never closed when I was there the bastards! Can't say I miss walking across the frozen tundra to my 8am class. But you always had the one dude that walked around BAREFOOT all winter long! It is when they banned "alcohol SOURCES" from Munn (yeah, for those that don't know, it is the HOCKEY arena name too!!).
Biggest riots after Cedarfest. Riot for the ability to have kegs. Gotta love it! Only thing that was better in my mind was when the students protested all night in front of the President's house because it was too cold to go to class. Out at 3am protesting because of the cold? BWWWAAAAHAAAAAA!!!! It worked too!
NO alcohol at Munn now, eh? That is news to me. | | HOT ROCKIN' METAL GODDESS wrote: | | You are absolutely right Guido - there is NOTHING better!! Tailgating at Munn field.... watching all the idiots light their couches on fire. People used to bring their ENTIRE living rooms, just packed it up in pick-up trucks and then set it out on the grass. Man, what a PARTY!! Now they turned Munn field DRY!! Can you believe that? NO ALCOHOL!!? At least then you had all the drunks contained within the fence - and we didn't hurt anyone. It was sort of like being in the zoo, people would pass by and look at us . And then we'd all go to the game and sit in the student section and have a BLAST! Nothing like it that's for sure!
Have a great time Ron, I KNOW you will!! | | guidogodoy wrote: | | Oh I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree! Nothing makes me sadder at this time of year than not being able to attend a Big 10 game having done it at MSU for so many years. While I should despise them, I really have a soft spot for the University of Michigan (except when they play MSU) as my big sister took me to many a game at "The Big House." 100,000 people?! Come on! Ali Haji Sheikh?! What a shoeless wonder! Heck, I have even been to see quite a few Notre Dame games with Touchdown Jesus when I lived in Indiana.
Come on, Pam, help me out. NOTHING better than rushing the field at MSU before they dropped the field making this joy now life-threatening. Pulling down the goalposts? When is the last time you have seen that one? I used to "camp" where I thought the post would land so as to make a grab for the flag at the top. "Passing people up?" Ho ho! What fun (except for that ugly buisness when some girl was kicking everyone at U of M and they just chucked her off the top to her death....anyone remember that?).
Ah....I am weepy with nostalgia. Have a blast, Ron. Nothing like it. | | Deep Freeze wrote: | | Oh MAN!!!! Ron, you are in for the time of your life!!! What a wonderful experience! College football is unlike anything you will ever experience. NOTHING like a Pro game! I much prefer the college games, man. Such passion and tradition. Spent so much of my time at games while in school. LOVED it. You'll see what I mean when you get there. I cannot tell you how much I envy you right now. College football (at a REAL school) is probably the very BEST sporting event you can attend! Have fun, my friend! | | ron h wrote: | | Good morning/day fellow Metalheads
Sue, glad you had a wonderful birthday yesterday (ahem...I know you have it in you to keep it going through the weekend ).
Becks, good luck with Starbreaker...a classic Priest tune!!
HEEELLLLLLLRRRRIIIIDDDDDEEEEERRRRRRRR, KEEP THE FISTS PUMPIN' BRO!!!
Well, it's been another interesting week, among other things...a worker strike at a plant in India has caused Ford to shut down yesterday in Chicago and for all of next week...arrrrrrggghhhh!!!! Just when things are starting to roll, ya know?! Ford DID post a profit again for the second straight quarter!!
On a lighter side, one of my brothers is taking me to South Bend to see Notre Dame host Navy today...50 yard line and about a 3rd of the way up on the Notre Dame side of the stadium. Never been to a college football game before, but I think I'm gonna enjoy seeing the campus, Touchdown Jesus, and to experience the general atmosphere of it all!!! |
