Yes, Dale. I have noticed as well. This is something which I have lamented for a long time. I have written several posts about it as well. I could not agree with you more. There are, of course, many VERY talented musicians still but, by and large, the material that passes for music is nothing more than computerized garbage. Worse yet are the people that actually BUY this stuff AND support the people that spew it by attending their..*ahem* "concerts".
I find the same disturbing trend in what used to be called "playing a record on a turntable". Now, for reasons I cannot comprehend, it has been labled "being a DJ" and suddenly it is some kind of magical, incredible, awe inspiring talent...?? People actually think it is something that only the "talented" can do correctly. *UGH* I just cannot grasp the concept. I mean, it takes NO special gift to turn on a record player and play an album. Maybe it is the ability to hold one side of your headphones to your ear while staring at the record as it goes round and round? Perhaps moving around to the beat of the music while playing a particulary popular song has some how been elevated to a status we simply will never understand? These are just a few examples. Clearly, whomever it is that finds this particular ability so amazing is the same person or persons that will tell you Lady Gaga is an "musician"..? | | Dale T. wrote: | | Has anyone noticed almost all types of music these days besides real music like Judas Priest, Iron maiden, Metallica, Slayer etc. shoot!! they end up with no talent what so ever, its all computer work, whats the point of making music if you dont play an instrument anymore?
