One of the problems about the Halford band's sound to me is that the sound of the guitars sounds too "Pantera - like" and it strays away from the old British heavy metal sound,I know Rob doesn't want to sound like Priest but to me its way too Panteraish. I think it would be cool if Halford changed the band name "Halford" into something totally kick ass whatever that may be and harken the sound a little bit towards Judas Priest and then write some totally kick as material like Painkiller and then forget about Judas Priest and let K.K. golf into retirement.
Its K.K.'s band, always has been and what he says goes and another studio LP simply aint gonna happen so we are unfortunately stuck with Halford if we want new material, not that the halford band is bad,its just not Judas Priest but at this point we'll take just about anything(sad). Another aspect of this hellrider is that if Halford would write more heavy shit like an album's worth of "quality" songs like Golgotha and Crucible an entire album's worth he may grab a better fan base because Made Of Metal is far under-par quality than the Crucible album.
Even the Ressurection album is better and I think that album is nowhere near Crucible. I don't know but what a frustrating year 2011 will be with nothing happening for Judas Priest except a farewell tour and probably a boring DVD of the live shows ect... Such a shame the greatest heavy metal band in the world is letting it's legacy drown down the fucking toilet. When metalheads in the future look at the discography and notice the "decline" of the band after AOR they are going to scratch thier heads and think : "What the fuck happened to them"??????
The METAL GOD HAS SOME REAL TOP NOTCH METAL THE PROBLEM HE HAS IN MY OPINION IS HE IS LACKING A LOYAL FAN BASE HE ALWAYS GETS FUC?ED.HE IS FORCED TO REACH OUT IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS ..

how so? you think halford (band) is as good as priest or that him touring with halford couldnt cause friction?

I was thinking about it today, and friction over Halford could well be the cause. too bad because without Glen, Ian, Kk and whichever drummer he has never managed to come close to matching the work he does with priest.

Anyone who knows me knows I'm as heartbroken and disappointed as anyone about the 'big news'. However, I believe in my heart that there are two reasons that JP is calling it quits. I have no proof to offer to back what I believe, but I believe none the less...
1. There are health issue(s).
2. Rob's solo project(s).
They're not kids anymore. They're teetering on 70 years old!! It already takes them 3-5 years to put out an album and with Rob insisting on taking time to do his solo work, that adds a couple of years. Those are very important years at that age group. If there's health issues (remember the start of the last tour??), that's just too much time in between.
Being a part of JP is a full time job, not part-time. If all 5 are not willing to put the time in, then I agree, what's the point. Not having a record deal or not having new material are certainly NOT reasons for the end of JP, far from it. Health and dedication are (IMHO) are why we are seeing the end the way we are seeing it.
A sad way to end the legacy of the greatest Heavy Metal band ever.
