KK has left the band, end of story. The fact he's done it on the eve of their final tour and that fans who've already bought tickets will be dissapointed means he's probably not going to change his mind. No point getting all bitter about it. Either go and see them or stay at home. I've supported the band myself since the 1970s and would have liked to see him play once more, but there you go...
Priest pioneered the twin guitar lead, true, but many bands have adopted the style since and are very good at it. Faulkner must be up to the task or they wouldn't have hired him. He's not some busker dragged in from the street, (mind you a lot of them are excellent musicians too !!!). If the tour had been cancelled there'd have been hell on from most fans, a lot would have been directed at KK I reckon too for not seeing it through. Continuing the tour is the best option for all concerned, and had KK Downing been injured or ill this is what most would have wanted and Faulkner would have been the man who saved the day, and his praises would have been sung, although the connoisseurs and musicians amongst you will say they can notice the difference in playing or simply say "but it's not KK". Personally for instance If I were to go and see Dio's band touring this year I would notice that it is Ripper Owens & Toby Jepson (ex Little Angels) on vocals before I'd notice craig Goldy was playing guitar & not Doug Aldridge, much as I like them both.
Nobody is indespensable, the world carries on.
