AGREE! 100%!!!!
My example of Slayer (not a band I have ever exactly loved but had some good tunes...seen them countless times in concert) trying to take on Dissident Agressor! Vocals just SUCK! Heavier band taking on Priest?! Never! They have to use a guitar to hit Rob's high notes? What about the end? Absent. The beginning? No "build" to come CLOSE to Priest!
Absolutely right HB - Priest can cover a song and make it better by putting their own spin on it. If you can't improve the song, then don't cover it when you are an established band, IMO. Halestorm taking a song played by 2 awesome guitarists, and playing it with one mediocre guitarist is just a bad decision.

I have liked a few song by them I hear on the radio. why they tried this one I have no idea. that vid is a little beter at least. Some bands should not cover some songs. Killswitch covered a dio tune (holy diver), and just sound bad doing it.
At least Priest could cover a song and make it their own version.

Huh. With a review that bad, I had to listen for myself. While Lzzy (damn, spell your name LIZZY!) didn't exactly massacre the vocals here, the guitar is pitiful.
Funny thing is that she STILL seems to have to to sing at a lower register than Rob! Certainly doesn't come close to his emotion.
Hell, I hated Slayer's version and I'd peg this version a notch higher. NOT to be confused with me actually enjoying either.....

Mark went to see Halestorm last night. I missed it because I took our son to football practice. Turns out that I'm glad I missed it! Halestorm is doing a cover of Dissident Aggressor. Mark taped it and I almost puked on the computer screen . On a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being the worst cover of a song, I give their version a 20. It completely SUCKS and should NEVER EVER be released!! The guitar solo? Sounded absolulely nothing like KKs solo. No surprise there because Joe is no where near talented enough to pull that off. I thought their version of the Lita Ford/Ozzy deut of Close My Eyes Forever was bad, but this was so much worse.
